Well, I never know exactly how I'm going to rate a drama until I watch it. Anyway, I did drop it in the mid 30s, but I felt so strongly in my opinion that I felt compelled to go back & finish it so that I can write an informed review. The length of a drama doesn't faze me if the story is good. I did have a look at 'My Daughter Soyoung', but I didn't get the urge to watch it after reading the synopsis and some of the reviews. I'm likely to give Reply 1997 a go before MDS. By the way, do you have any plans to watch Rich Man, Poor Woman? I know you don't like the arrogant type of heroes, but Toru Hyuga is an enigma. I like him even though I'm convinced he's bipolar. He and the heroine have some mad chemistry. Recently they released a special and I was so excited to see them again that I watched it without subs.
Now I have seen it and it was great, Shun and Satomi played well together, so well that they got me to start thinking…
It does. Thanks!

By the way, to answer your question regarding Nine. I'm looking into it. It looks like a show I might be interested in watching. I'll wait until it finishes airing and see what the general consensus is like.

OCD - obsessive, compulsive disorder.
My taste is in a class of its own so I wouldn't decide what not to watch based on my drop list. Most of the time I hate dramas that everyone else loves & love dramas everyone else hates.
LOL I haven't found a K-drama as of yet that I completely love 100%. I've been more lucky with j-dramas. I really enjoyed Pride, Buzzer Beat, Brother Beat & a few others.

Both are good.
Keep in mind that Chunhyang is narrated like a pantomime of sorts. Don't let that faze you. It's a beautiful story. And the male lead is serious eye candy.
The Servant is a more mature retelling of the same story, with a few twists here and there. I honestly can't say which one I like best. I think I love them both equally, but for different reasons.
The male lead, Bang-ja, in The Servant is my kind of man.
Watch anyone you want first.

Hi. Saw your review of the Rich Man, Poor Woman special. I'm really dying to see this. Can you tell me how long was it when you watched it on TV? Did it show like a full length movie or will there be several episodes? Thx!

No, I watch movies from everywhere as long as they're good.
Some japanese dramas I like are Orange Days, Pride, Brother Beat and Buzzer Beat. Mostly oldies, but goodies. I also liked Rich Man, Poor Woman from last year. Looking forward to the special that aired recently.
I haven't seen Mother, but I hear it's good. I might watch it one day.

Hey fun question since you're on a Western drama binge. What, in your opinion, are some of the major differences between Asian & Western dramas?
Have you seen The Wire?

I'm originally from the States (New York), but have lived in Europe for many years. What are some of your all time favourite dramas? I still haven't found one K-drama that I absolutely love without reservation. I've found many that I liked, but not loved. On the other hand I've found a couple J-dramas that are real favs. I never expected that. I started out not liking j-dramas so much, but I find they're more true to life & less melodramatic than k-dramas. What do you think?

Which season of GoT are you on?
First season is veeeeeery slow to build because of world building and there are sooo many characters to introduce. As it draws to a close, though, it gets epic! I almost dropped it, but I'm glad I didn't!
I've heard rave reviews about Dexter, but haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

Me too! I loved the after work gatherings. Sometimes it was a bit weird being the only girl because you know men ... they go off talking about the oddest of things. Things that did not interest me at all. For the most part though they were a wild bunch. Literally. After working at the company for sometime I found out that my team leader was an alcoholic, who admits that he's an alcoholic & needs help, but point blank refuses to stop drinking. And many of the other guys were often so high on cocaine they were almost bouncing off the walls. At the time I didn't understand why they were so high strung, but I found out soon enough. Coming from a big place like NY I shouldn't be this naive, but I was shocked at how prevalent drug use is in the professional world in the UK!

Yeah, I know how it is in the City. I took a part of my MBA course at the Uni of Bath & after I finished I got my first job at an ad agency at London Bridge. I was the only female member of staff for like several months. It wasn't bad. My immediate colleagues treated me well, but the boss was a really weird guy. Would never greet or speak directly to any of the junior staff & when he was forced to speak to you he wouldn't look you in the eye. He had a very pompous air about him that spoke of a spoiled, privileged background. He was very dismissive, as if you were mere a mere servant underfoot (in some ways I guess we were since we all worked for him). When I started at the company I had a little crush on him, but by the time I left I disliked him immensely.

Oh, I'm the opposite. I have a very soft heart & cry easily at everything. People normally tell me how tough I am & blah blah. If only they knew. I project a tough front because I have to. You don't inspire confidence in people by being a crybaby. I'm very good at controlling my emotions in public, but when I'm alone I'm usually overwhelmed by them if I'm out of balance. If I didn't feel like I'd die if I wasn't making films or trying to make films, I would never be in this profession. But I love it so much that I can't not do it. I have a MBA that my parents thought 'I'd put to good use', but I quit my corporate job to make films because I was totally miserable putting up with all the usual abuses you face in the corporate world. What's ironic is that the film world is 3x harder, and it stresses the hell out of me, but when I come home at night I feel exhilarated instead of exhausted.
I thought he and Natsoki were already official. Sigh ...
