Wow, you went to Japan? How was it? Are the men as cute as we see in dramas? ;)
I want to go there, but I think I want to go to Korea first.

I've seen AGD, Queen In Hyun's Man & Autumn's Concerto. They're acceptable. That's the type of physical interaction I want to see. Something real, if not completely natural looking. Hehe

I watched half of the 1st episode of Saranghæ. Couldn't finish it. How did you rate it & why? I might give it a go later. I'm going to check out the rest. I think I already have Time Between Wolf and Dog on my list. Thx so much for the rec! :)

I know exactly what you mean. It's the same with me. My mom's Jamaican while my dad is American. I spent a lot of time in both countries while growing up because my mom didn't want me to assimilate too much into American culture. She thinks it's a bad influence on the young. But to Jamaicans, I'm still very American & to Americans I'm very Jamaican. LOL
I've stopped trying to please everyone and just try to please myself. Gives me less headache. :)

The thing with k-dramas is that they'll acknowledge sex only if they need to use it as a plot device, but aside from that it seems to be a big no no.

What k-dramas have you seen with a more mature outlook? Please tell me because I can't bear to watch those dramas where sex & any form of physical interaction is such a big deal.

I get what you're saying about the Koreans, their language, culture & humour. I feel the SAME! I love them so much I've actually started learning Korean. I also think the Koreans come across as a more approachable people than the Japanese. There's a certain mystique about the Japanese.

I hung out with a lot of Koreans while at Uni. They were pretty cool even though back then I wasn't so interested in their culture so I missed out on making friends with them. The Japanese on the other hand always stuck to themselves.

Which one have you seen 4 eps of? Woman who wants to marry or I Need Romance?

It's spring here too and it's sooo nice to have warmer weather. The ice is also melting away so you can actually walk without fear of falling & breaking your neck.

As for j-dramas oh no ... they can & do do romance, sometimes better than the Koreans in my opinion. Ok, they have a lot of those boring frozen kisses too, but at least the Japanese aren't afraid to acknowledge that their characters are sexual beings! In most Korean dramas the characters' sexuality is like a big pink elephant in the room & no one wants to acknowledge it. Aside from all the cliches it's the one thing I hate the most about K-dramas. Anyway, I haven't watched that many J-dramas, but I loved Buzzer Beat (similar to Pride) and Orange Days! Brother Beat was also amazing. The kissing was horrible, but the romance was sweet. Check these out & see if you like them! :)

Ayegoo, now I know 100% that we're drama twins! I feel the SAME way about UY. Jæ Yong had me in stitches. Absolutely loved him! Don't know how he managed with Yi Sook, tho. The whole wide-eyed innocence thing was cute in the beginning but after a while it got on my nerves. I mean she's not 12!

Mal Sook, omg, that girl. Her only comeuppance is that this relationship with Se-Gwang will probably blow up in her face. It's clear that Se-Gwang doesn't love her as much as she loves him so I have a very bad feeling. Don't think they're going to have a happy ending after he comes back from the army, if that last scene of him at the base is anything to go by.

My biggest disappointment with this drama was Yoon-hee. I get what the makers were trying to do, but they dropped the ball somehow. Yoon-hee came across as very selfish to me & it was hard to sympathize with her.

OMG, I've found my MDL twin! Couldn't have said it better. That's how I felt too! I wanted to kill Ryu Soo Young for staying in that house with that beastly woman and her awful mother. Christ, what a nightmare.

It's funny you should say that you wanted to sympathize with her, but couldn't. I felt the same way. I just finished Unexpected You & the heroine is normally my kind of woman, but I ended up hating her for similar reasons.

I was planning to watch Smile, You soon, then I heard she's in it & shelved it. I'll get to it eventually, but I don't want to see her so soon after Bad Couple. By the way, do NOT see Bad Couple, if you really dislike her. She'll literally make you fling your computer out the window!

As for Pride, OMO, I way too old & HE'S way too old, but I fangirl over KT like crazy. I love him. I love him. I love him!

Morning Edinaa. I enjoyed those k-dramas I mentioned a lot. Of the 4 Padam Padam was the best all around (but it didn't have a happy ending).
I'd definitely recommend that you see all of them. AGD and Coffee Prince are relatively popular and really nice dramas. A lot of people didn't like Lie To Me, but it was okay for me. There's some pretty hot kissing scenes in it. ;)

Hey! I'm great, thx. How are things in Turkey?
I haven't seen the I Need Romance series & I don't know if I ever will. I tend not to like Sex & the City type shows, but we'll see. I might change my mind later. I'll have a look at The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry. Thx for the rec! :)
Are you watching anything right now? I noticed you started Brother Beat the other day. Was it for you or did you not like it?

Thx. My dad's a cool guy so I hope he sticks around another 100 yrs or so. My mom, she can gladly stay another 200 yrs.

When I lived in London I couldn't afford to get my own place. I always had to share which I hated. When it comes to housing you get more & better for your money in Oslo. Right now the flat that I live in (all by my lonesome, although my yobo is sometimes a permanent fixture) cost the same as what I paid in a flatshare in Clapham Junction. Aside from that, tho, everything else is cheaper in London, especially if you're receiving Norwegian funds. Entertainment, travel, food ... everything. The same comparison is true for Oslo & NY too.

I too am mixed culture & mixed race so I'm a mutt in every way. Haha. I find that I'm liberal about many things, but conversative in others. I think that's due to my mixed nationality upbringing.

Choi Jung Yoon, OMFG! Her voice is soooo annoying! It's the thing I hate most about her. What drama did she ruin for you? If it wasn't for her Ojakgyo Brothers would have been a 10 for me. I really really hated her character in that drama. She made me end up hating Ryu Soo Young too (Ryu Soo Young who I otherwise adore!!!). I disliked HJW the first time I saw her in 100 Days with Mr. Arrogant, then I saw her in a couple more movies & realized that I had to write her off. I didn't mind her in Closer to Heaven, probably because the story was so heartbreaking I didn't have time to focus too much on her horrible facial expressions.

You're so lucky to have your parents close by! My mom visited me twice in the last 2.5 yrs & my dad once. My dad can't travel too much or too far because he's sickly. I miss my mom & her cooking so much I want to cry just thinking about it.

Wow, it's so cool that you're from Hong Kong. I've heard it's a bit expensive there (in comparison to Mainland China, that is). Would you agree? I have not yet visited a city that's more expensive than Oslo. NYC is expensive, but that's just for housing. To go out, shop & eat is manageable. Here in Oslo EVERYthing is expensive. On a moderate night out you can easily spend £300 or more if you're not careful. I'm kind of sick of it. I miss London because it was so much cheaper to live day to day (though housing costs are high).

Ok, you've convinced me. I'm going to start Reply 1997 tonight when I get home. :)

As for flight points, I have accumulated a few, but I'm really bad at taking advantage of them. Over here if you don't use up your points within the same year that you got them, you lose half of them if they're transferred to the next year (or something like that). I'm an entrepreneur so I don't always have the luxury to travel as often as I did before and to long distances where the points come in handy. What about you? I imagine you have great flight points plans in Canada? I know that FPPs available in the States are much better deals than the ones offered here in Norway.

Hi. Sorry for late reply. Somehow I missed seeing your post when it first came in. Luckily I'm one to scroll down my wall at least once a day so that's how I discovered your post.
I'm not watching any dramas right now, but I'm about to start one. Which, I don't exactly know yet. I'm hankering for something Japanese, but it has to be the right kind of drama that fits my current mood. I've been recommended Reply 1997 & I'm eyeing The World That They Live In just for the sake of Hyun Bin, who I have yet to meet officially. What about you? Watching anything good?

As for how I travel, it all depends on my wallet! But a rule of thumb is that if it's a low cost destination then I'll go in-season, if not I'll go off-season. I don't like super low cost travel. I need to have a few basic creature comforts like privacy (so no hostels) & internet connection so I can watch my dramas! :)

Was in a bad mood when I came home last night so I started watching romcom Unstoppable Marriage. Wanted to watch something light-hearted and funny, but I fell asleep in the middle of it. Not sure if its because I was tired or if the movie was just plain boring, but I'll give it another try before writing it off completely. I'm not watching any dramas right now. Trying to decide between Reply 1997 or The World that They Live In. Leaning slightly more toward the latter since Hyun Bin is in it. Which one would you choose? Or if you have a completely different rec I'd welcome it. Yes, maybe one day I'll decide to watch Secret Garden, but probably not within this decade.

Haha, it's funny you should say KHN looks like Ha Ji Won. Now that I consider it you're absolutely right! No wonder I started disliking them both at the same time. What's your reason for not liking HJW? For me it's just her facial expressions & body language that I find unbearable to look at.

Either really busy or broke! lol
I usually visit home once a year, but since I started my company in 2010 I've had to down prioritize long distance travel. Being an entrepreneur ain't easy. All the luxuries you enjoyed when someone else was paying you to work gets shelved. My mom and dad has been over to visit me in that time though. So its more like extended family and friends who are hankering to see me (and I them). If my movie gets in at Busan, then I'll have a good reason to go to SK and maybe my company will cover the expenses for the trip. I'll have to sweet talk the accountant. I soooo want to go though. I hear that SK is a great country. While I'm there I also want to visit Jeju Island & Japan!

Did you find out about MDL in Florida? Florida is like my second hometown! Miss it so much!

Hey, did you start Pride & or RMPW?

I know. I think that's why when I became aware of them I wasn't in a rush to seek out their work, especially Lee's, because fangirls always lead me astray.

I've never been to Asia! I've had many opportunities in the past to go there and shoot, but I passed on them because I wasn't really interested in the region & because I hear many Asians don't care for foreigners, esp if you aren't white.

Now that I have an incentive to go, nothing is gonna stop me! I want to show one of my films at the Busan International Film Festival in Oct, but I don't know yet if I'll be able to make the trip, even if my film gets in. I haven't been back home to the States or the Caribbean in years & my family is dying to see me. So I don't know if I can afford 2 big trips in one year. We'll see.

I was shocked because I wasn't expecting anything so explicit when I decided to see the film. Also Ryu Soo Young seems a bit too refined for such a role so yeah, definitely shocked, but again ... ain't complaining. At all! I doubt I'm ever going to see his nekkid butt again on screen. Honestly, I really need to move to Soeul. LOL

You know, I still haven't met Lee Min Ho or the famous Hyun Bin. I was thinking of starting The World They Live In just to see him (Binnie). On second thought I'll probably watch Last Autumn since the time investment is just 2hrs. I really need to find out what all the fuss is about with these two. Though obviously I can see that they're very attractive.

And hey, Lee Min Ho is still young. Maybe he might want to do edgier roles as he gets older. If all else fails you can move to Soeul with me & we can stalk our crushes together! hahaha
