Have you ever been in a relationship? Nobody is ever happy, 24/7, 365 days a year in a relationship. Relationships are constantly experiencing ups and downs - this month you may be happy, the next month you may be not - either due to something personal within yourself, something within the relationship or something outside of the relationship. Fairy tales of constant happiness do not exist. So if having a bout of unhappiness in a relationship is reason to justify cheating ... well ... I guess that explains why the world is so f'ed up.

i love that this drama has almost no romance involved because the romance aspect almost always ruins the drama.
In your opinion.

I'm not really happy about your review because everyone knows this drama is all about student and teacher romance…
Don't try to talk reasonably with people on this site. MDL attracts a lot of otakus who shun living in the real world. Many are from very conservative cultures and have never had a relationship so they live vicariously thru drama. These people are so sheltered and immature they'll jump on you just because you didn't like a show they loved or if you criticize the poor acting of their favourite idols. This is why I deleted my friend's list on here 2 yrs ago. Too many weirdos!

No, it means the drama was complete trash and most viewers with a bit of discernment can easily see that. Not all criticism is about 'hate'. Some criticisms are valid and right on the money. The only reason Heirs had such an undeservedly high rating at one point was because of crazed LMH and PSH fangirls. It wouldn't be the first or the last time this happens on this site.

Title High Society
Rather underwhelming treatise on the lust and greed that drives modern society. I agree with both reviews above and those below ... the movie suffered an identity crisis, the script didn't quite come together ... and personally I didn't really like the big reveal by Soo Æ's character toward the end (although I get why it had to be done). Something about it felt too ... skeevy, esp with the husband right there, for my sensibilities. Nah, this movie was unfortunately ... shit. For a much better experience dealing with the same themes, I'd recommend The Taste Of Money any day over High Society. Interestingly, Kim Kang Woo stars in both and plays eerily similar characters.

Yup, very true! It's just a value they live by in their society, I guess. As are many of the other cliches we often see in dramas and movies.

It does ... but it's kind of a weird one. It won't leave you with any warm fuzzy feelings. It is a revenge movie, afterall.

I mean, I think it's just personal preference. Jennifer Lawrence generated HUGE hype in the states a few years…
Jennifer Lawrence does actually have some acting chops though. In my opinion, at least. Her breakout role in Winter's Bone, for eg, was quite good (it's the role that made her famous). And she's had some pretty decent roles subsequently ... my favourites being Mother! and American Hustle.

The issue I have is not so much with her personally, but the fact that she became overexposed very fast & for too long. There was a point when you couldn't turn your TV on without some talk show host gushing over and about her. She was literally EVERYWHERE and people were like "Can we please get a break from all this fawning over this chick so we can actually appreciate her works and not be force fed all this media hype about her?!!" So because of this overexposure a lot of people got sick of seeing and hearing about her 24/7 and started questioning is she THAT good to be getting soooo much praise and accolades??? Nah. She's good, she has talent ... but she's no icon. At least not yet, not at this stage of her career.

In terms of Yang Mi, I guess I don't mind her but she is kind of a one note actress. She plays every role the exact same way, and doesn't seem to push herself too far out of what she's comfortable doing. That's when you kind of know that it's all about the commercial benefits for her and not for love of the art and craft of acting.

Haha, I had to laugh when you said you wanted to shoot yourself. Man, I totally get you. I really didn't enjoy WAML, but Temptation truly takes the cake for the world's most horrible drama! I have never hated a drama (or a ML) so much, before or since. And that says a lot, because usually I'm very forgiving of MLs, even when other viewers love to hate on them. But in Temptation, I literally wanted to crawl through the screen and murder that guy! I watched that drama over 3, 4 years ago and my passions against it still have not waned. So yeah ... it sure did leave an impression! lol

Anyway, you're very welcome! Happy to have helped! :)

I have to say that I skipped alllllll the business parts (and I love business shit, like Life, Stranger, Incomplete…
Hehe ... your brother is ... not quite right, though, imo, because there's a huge difference between fantasy that takes place in a made up world vs one that takes place in the real world. In the made up world, anything is possible, as the entire world building is dependent on the writer's imagination and creativity. Here the writers have to make sure their world building is magical and interesting enough to fascinate an audience, and they have to stick to the rules of the world they built. That's what I would deem as 'good' fantasy in this category. Game of Thrones for eg would fall here.

On the other hand, if the world building is weak & the writers start breaking their own rules out of convenience or desperation, that's when my perception of quality starts going downhill. GoT does well because on both fronts (world building & sticking to predesigned rules), the writing is top notch. That's why its so popular all across the world.

Then you have fantasy that takes place in the human world. If the fantastical aspects are interwoven into the human world, then they must adjust to human conditions, otherwise they become illogical and unbelievable.

This is the trouble I think I Am Not A Robot had. The fantastical aspects didn't fit well into the human world (because without any explanation as to why they can't, humans would very quickly be able to tell the girl really isn't a robot). The writer obviously didn't think things through. S/he simply required the viewer to burn their brain cells and just follow along. Something I find very hard to do when the fallacies are so blatant ...

Having said that, I actually could have lived with the less than perfect fantasy aspects, if there was something else to grab my attention, but the romance was super slow to build and rather bland once it started (we didn't even get one decent kiss! :/), the comedy was lacklustre and the business parts lacked intensity. So for me, it was just one huge waste of time. :-(

Hi. I was wondering if you could please tell me if the cheating husband ends up with his wife at the end of the…
Believe me, I hate dramas about cheating too (mostly if they're romance, but in general ... infidelity is not a favourite theme of mine to watch as entertainment). But since this was mostly a mystery/thriller and not really a romance, the show did a great job of keeping me engaged and focused on the whodunit aspect of the drama. The cheating became somewhat of a non-issue, since it wasn't used as a driver of the plot. These people had bigger fish to fry, so to speak, and as the viewers, so did we.

Now if we were talking about dramas like Temptation and When A Man Loves ... where cheating is central to the plot, I'd advice you to stay FAR FAR FAR away. Those two dramas, esp the first one (had the most hateful & hated - by me - ML E.V.E.R), were total and utter trash. They infuriated me so much, I wanted to gouge my own eyes out for watching them.

This drama, however? Super fun, and woven into all the WTF craziness, was actually something of substance. A commentary on married life and how easily we push our partners away because of a lack of communication & our own selfishness. If you do get around to watching it, I do hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did. Promise to write and let me know! It's a quick watch ... only 9 eps and they go by very fast! :-)

Well, on that we can certainly agree ... he was definitely a bit (probably a lot) delusional if he couldn't tell the difference between a human and a robot. But, yes, he was also a very sympathetic character (and the actor did a good job portraying him) . I think that's why I continued watching to the end even though I was bored out of my scull. He led such a lonely, isolated life ... I wanted to see him have a happy ending.

Hi. I was wondering if you could please tell me if the cheating husband ends up with his wife at the end of the…
The husband starts out really unlikable ... besides the cheating he engages in other really f'ed up behaviour that makes you want to bitch slap him upside the head. However, he does redeem himself and soon we realize that he's not as bad as we first thought and perhaps his wife is not so good as she first appears.

All in all, the drama does a good job of showing the characters good and bad sides, and the reason why they behave the way they do. Neither one of them is perfect and they both make mistakes that cause their marriage to deteriorate, but in some strange, warped way ... they still kinda love each other? LOL, this drama and this couple is totally wack!

Besides all the epic twists and turns, it's really just a satirical portrayal of married life and how impossible it can be to live in peace with another human being, with their flaws and selfishness, day in, day out.

The twist at the end is related to the reason why the couple butted heads in the first place, at the beginning of the drama. Though they reconciled, the show leaves you to wonder if they truly reconciled out of love for each other or if one or both of them have ulterior motives. So basically, it's kind of up to you to decide if it's a real happy ending or not.

I loved the drama because there's literally never a dull moment. Just when you think you have stuff figured out the writers throw you a curve ball straight out of left field. You can never really predict what's going to happen, episode by episode. It's thrilling and has lots of WTF moments that will make your jaw hang off your face! LOL If you like these type of shows, then I'd say you definitely have to give this a try!

No, just absolutely NO! lol He touched her hand and her face! Didn't he feel flesh ... and bone? How would he explain a robot having flesh and bones?!?! Moreover, the warmth that radiates from the human body is not the same as the warmth from an electronic device. Come on, son! Are you kidding me?! Hahaha.
I have no problem suspending belief (in general I actually quite enjoy fantasy dramas - Nine, Man From The Stars, Oh My Ghostess etc), but it has to be within the scope of reason. It has to make sense to my logical mind. If it doesn't, it just pulls me out of the drama because I get distracted by all the illogical plot holes.

The term 'it didn't have romance, and that's the best thing' is becoming so cliche on this site! I mean seriously ... we get that the silly romcoms are a bit of a bother, esp for non-romance lovers, but do y'all have to say this line every time you discuss a non-romance drama? Why do people even get so excited when there's no romance in a non-romance drama anyway ...? :/
Do you expect to taste salt in ice cream? Makes no sense!
Otherwise, nice article, OP! I'll be checking a few of these out!
