Yanxi palace was good, people around me wouldn't stop yapping about it until I caved. After watching legend of Zhen Huan later on, I realized the plots of the two were carbon copy just that SOYP removed everything I didn't like and spiced things up a bit, so it was surprising to see that their DB scores were far apart. But Wei Ying Luo isn't an anti hero and her fights were limited to the harem (I don't want Qing dynasty, too biased against women), being an empress there basically means better treatment and resources, getting into politics is difficult, that's probably why they decided to stop where they stopped ( or the fact that if they had moved a little further on the timeline we'd have gotten a sad ending).
If Yang Mi had more freedom to settle down and choose a project, an instant hit would be the role of a villainous empress who schemed her way to the top and later enters power struggles as dowager empress with the emperor not like the brainless politicking used to increase screen time, it would need a good screenwriter. I liked the interpretation of Wu Ze Tian in palace of desire wish she could get something like that 🤔
It's a weird thing really, why do I feel Zi Zan and Di Xu have better chemistry than Ti Lan and Di Xu. For the latter it's like two corpses making do with each other.

My thoughts exactly, everytime they show HS×FZ or ZL×ZY my enthusiasm rises, then they show DX×TL three times as much and I'm tempted to break my no FFing rule🙄 goodness at this point I'm wishing TL would just die and end this CP.

What a disappointing climax to villains that took much more time to set up, the political plotline of this drama is too weak, -0.5 for me.
