For the ratings I guess this drama bears the same polarized views as in Legend of Fuyao, some extremely love it while some just can't. There are more people on both sides of the extreme than those standing in the center. Excuse me while I go hike my rating by 0.5😊
I think she sometimes makes good points about the technical side of movie-making but as for plots, I never agree…
She does have a full grasp of the technicalities but at the same time how much of cdramas can be said to be perfect. I feel concentrating too much on these things can make you lose sight of what's actually enjoyable.

The writer did a rare thing, it's not easy to drive a plot without villains but she achieved it, maybe because she already had a clear picture of what she wanted to portray. The little fantasy elements you see are to distinguish the setting of the drama. I was disappointed too but the plot is actually complex enough. when you try to add more fantasy elements to an already thick plot you might get something like Novoland: Eagle Flag, simply put, too much and too little for me. Better To play it safe afterall this isn't Xianxia.
