First 8-9 episodes or so are okay, she learns some awesome martial arts skills but then once she gets off the…
The FL lead didn't learn some "awesome martial arts". Her fighting skills were always average which is reasonable as she didn't get proper training. She was only able to win the contest because she was possessed around that time (I've forgotten most of the details) and was freed some time later. The plotline is more complex for a wuxia drama and there's a lot of adventure, so it's understandable how it puts some people off. Personally it's still one of my all-time faves
Yang Mi is going to shoot a movie first and then a tv series. She's been emphasizing she wants try new roles and explore more. So I think that rules out silly plots and shallow characters. I'm happy YM is breaking away from JX and is starting all over and I'm confident she'll get what she wants.
Actually they left because they were that bad and I think what they threw away were the advert posters. The members…
True, they came because of the scandal but I think they left because there was nothing to keep them. I don't have an ear for this kind of music so I'm judging based on the critique they received in the course of the drama.
Is it finally happening guys? YM said her new role is coming soon, she wants to try different roles especially this year and she particularly wants to play a villain (not in a pure sense) 😳
Has she got a new agency? I heard she was opening another one herself? Any truth in that?
No news of finding another agency, it might still be difficult to terminate the contract with Jaywalk since she has been deeply bound with them for so long
Guess I'm the only one that enjoyed it 👀 I thought it was a fresh take on the genre, didn't think too much about loopholes. The characters were interesting, acting and music were great but didn't expect it to be so graphic. Overall 8/10 for me
Yang Mi currently has no team to promote any of her dramas but they're still doing fine with viewership despite the deliberate and vicious attacks on MiMi, especially SaHPH. After the last debacle tencent is not promoting it at all neither do YM or XK have the ability to. Thank you doctor on the other hand currently has the highest tv ratings for a medical cdrama in the past ten years.
Both this and Beloved Life got bad critics but they're actually some of my favs this year.
I think the drama is getting attacked because it has Yang Mi not because she's bad but because like all actresses with huge fan bases she's a victim of toxic fan wars and generally toxic internet behavior, not necessarily because it's bad. Luckily it had tv ratings and the approval of real practitioners to back it's quality. Getting to air on CCTV is already approval enough.
I know this is going to fall on deaf ears but this was never meant to be romantic even though YM and BY had good chemistry anyway. It's sad to virtually walk in here and see people giving low scores because "there's no romance!". If you haven't noticed yet Cdramas like to steer clear of romance when they want to convey a serious subject matter.
