Quite true, from a certain point of view. Love this is, maybe.
I didn’t say I wanted romance? I started this solely for the mystery and the relationship of the sisters but so far all 3 of them are just meh to me rn ( the youngest is actually the most rational one despite the fact I really disliked her). The mystery is very convoluted and there are some moments where I just had to suspend disbelief bc of how ridiculous some of them are. I’ll do what I want to do. Thank you for the suggestion tho.

I understand it wouldn’t make sense for the drama but at least it would give this boring story someone interesting arcs. It feels like we’re just going in circles at this point from general, orchid and orchid and general and again. I’m just struggling to not drop it so making up crack ships in my head. It’s wasn’t a serious comment at all.
I’m sorry but you can’t convince me that there aren’t some brain cells missing in these sisters. The man from the fish market literally gave the 2nd sister that address in ep 2 , specifically saying “you should start investigating there” yet she didn’t even do anything about it until 6 episodes later. Yes you could argue she was distracted after being outed as an alcoholic and such but I’m just not convinced she’s someone who has alcohol dependency issues. I feel like the drama just brushed aside her alcohol problems after the first 3 eps despite it being an important part of her character.
I’m not asking for them to be professional detectives but to just have some common sense? Being poor doesn’t make you stupid or naive. In fact I would argue most poor people are resourceful and far more quick thinking than some rich people bc they have to do all sorts of odd jobs to live. Besides a person’s financial status shouldn’t really affect their common sense, significantly, it’s something almost all functioning human beings have. The fact all 3 of them lack it is just so funny to me and tells me a lot about how the author views poor people. You can write flawed characters successfully without making them dumbasses. I’m not a super rich person and there’s been times where I was in severe poverty but I can confidently say I wouldn’t be going around smelling a flower I know has led to the death of several people (it is the killer's calling card) but that’s just me.

It’s not really romance I want but like a toxic enemies who are having an affair arc. I just like the drama of it and Uhm Ki Joon does psychotic assholes really well. I don’t think this is really the drama for a light hearted puppy love romance but a messed up relationship that ends in a tragedy. It all depend on execution tho. Eve was really horrible at it.
Empress Ki is based on Chinese history. Yuan dynasty of Mongol invaded China and Korea
The King’s Woman is based on Qing Shi Huang, China’s first emperor who united the country during the Qin dynasty. I’m not sure if the FL is an actual person in history tho. Empress Ki’s story is a true story (ofc with many added fictional plot points). The drama takes place during the Yuan Dynasty when Mongolia was ruling over China, and Korea was its proxy state (puppet country that had a king but the king was basically powerless). While both dramas do take place in China, I would say that the plot of a powerful ruler forcing another man’s lover to be his is a pretty common plot in many historical shows.
I love Liang Jie, but not a huge fan of body swapping. Does it last for the entire show and is it for a long time…
No. The body swapping happens a few times throughout the drama but most of their interactions are within their own bodies. It’s honestly just a plot device to get the leads close bc they’re like total opposites in terms of their personalities and jobs. Once they’re close, which happens early on, the body swapping is not a huge focus. I’m not a huge fan of body swapping either but this slowly became one of my fave dramas.
Okay, hear me out. I just feel so much chemistry between the reporter sister and the politician dude. Maybe they’ll get together or maybe I’m just a clown lol.
Looking forward to this. It would be fun to see the sketchy SML be the male lead. Only complaint is that the FL is not Chen Fangtong lol. I got too attached to the three main leads from a Maid’s Revenge.
Seeing Dai Gao Zheng’s popularity after Maid’s Revenge, they should reconsider the male lead 😅
Why should they? Vincent Wei is just as good of an actor as the other two. all leads of maid’s revenge are not top notch professional actors anyway hence why they always star in these short 10 min dramas. It really wouldn’t make a difference whose the male lead. They are both good looking in their own way.
I don’t get this babying of grown men. Maybe the west allows divas with drug and prostitution problems to make…
He’s an adult and should’ve known the literal laws of the country he lives in. The police even gave him multiple warnings only for him to disregard it so it’s his responsibility. There are millions of actors in China hoping for a big break. It’s not a normal job at all. Celebs especially in China make much more money than the ordinary person and enjoy many luxuries and most of them aren’t even that talented. If you can’t even follow the basic laws of the country you live in, there is plenty others to replace you. The more benefits you reap, the higher the standards you are held to. If you don’t want to be held to such high standards, then just lead a humble life. Nobody forced him to become a public figure.
I don’t get this babying of grown men. Maybe the west allows divas with drug and prostitution problems to make more money and enjoy luxuries than the poor working people but China doesn’t (when it’s found out) and he’s a Chinese actor. FIY, this isn’t just a Chinese or communist thing, drugs and prostitution are both illegal in many EU countries. Many young girls are forcefully sold into prostitution and paid to do horrific things. Yes maybe the women he slept with were consenting but he still broke the law and his money went into financing whatever prostitution rings he visited (sorry to break it to you but when you’re a professional prostitute, your pimp, the men who owns you, takes much of the money and you do all the work; it’s not a nail salon where you fairly get payed for your work and are protected by the law). Since prostitution is illegal, even if the prostitutes are taken by their will or are payed unfairly or get psychically abused as part of foreplay, they can’t go to the police. There’s dozens of guys who are much more talented and does not support an illegal organization that traffics young girls.
If he was a decent guy with needs, he could’ve brought a girl to a date, established that he’s only looking for a good time, and had a normal sexual relationship. Men who solicit prostitution rings especially when it’s illegal are usually depraved sick pigs bc they know the girls will let themselves do anything to them. But hey go ahead and baby your oppa. He’s one in a billion, such an unique, outstanding Oscar level actor after all.
story discussion- join in!Did you guys think they were that poor, I felt their 'we are so poor' talk was a lil…
The rich woman stole her painting and gave it to her daughter like it was nothing so I think the oldest sister was right in warning the youngest that the more she takes from that family, the more they will look down on her. They already see her as a beggar with the nonchalant way they just presented the painting as their daughter’s.
For the travel thing, I thought the same but it makes sense if you consider how poor the two older sisters were bought up. I know someone who’s never got to go on a field trip during their school days so now they insist on sending all of their kids on one even if the kids do not see the big deal. Idk if you’ve seen Dance moms or those pageant shows but many parents who had dreams of being famous but never got to, also do the same to their children, exploiting them to become actors and singer. It’s kind of like a wish fulfillment for them, they can live vicariously through their children and see their dream become true. Of course it’s not right that the two oldest sisters project their desires on the youngest but that’s what makes them interesting, flawed characters.
Their whole family is dysfunctional and having grown up in extreme poverty, they probably have a lot of trauma and other issues.

Edit: this is a joke, people.
