I actually like ZJR even his interactions with YZJ. The only time I don't like him is when he interacts with DW. I wonder if he likes her because she follows his guidance and he wants to keep it that way? Does anyone know their characters' age difference?

I was so proud of her on the boat scene where she was like a boss with the two thieves and his reaction was like "Oh no! Why! be sweet and innocent!"

She is basically a baby, a survivor of abuse who is hardly exposed to the world and is only learning about the toxicity of people and their selfishness. Rather than have her learn to independently protect herself and learn from her experiences naturally his reaction is like "You don't have the same level of protection that I have nor the privileges I enjoy but I want you to stay innocent and uncorrupted."

They need like a 3 year separation where she can grow into her own without him suppressing her evolution like he does.

I can give a million reasons on why Duan Wu sticks with Yan Zijing than Zhang Jingran even though he is the kinder…
In addition to all of that, i'm not fully aware of the family structures but I bet as noble and an official his goal is to climb up through the ranks kissing up to the official ladies, learning etiquette, royal court drama and traps, mothers in laws, concubines the who shabang.

I thought this at the beginning of the series when he said he would teach him how to eliminate the reincarnation…
Dang that would be depressing

Tragic theory, what if Lord Ying Long was the original vessel of the malice energy. And ZYZ is the reincarnation…
I thought this at the beginning of the series when he said he would teach him how to eliminate the reincarnation cycle.

Poor ZYZ during the group hug, that scene is symbolic of how his life will always be like. '

At this point the only happy ending is ZYZ successfully dying and being reunited with his sister. The FL at this point does not really deserve him even as a friend or colleague. ZYC deserves him more than she does. My baby has already been suffering, even if the menacing energy is healed it doesn't bring back the dead nor resolve the regret, no one will ever fully understand him and love him without prejudice.

The only one I hope I will see cry is ZYC maybe sister Pei, everyone better act like their world is now better without him because that group hug really upset me

Many will do better after realizing that many people in the comments are still in high school and cant realistically understand the choices made by the characters due to difference in generational mindsets.

XL never really grew up with healthy interactions he is also in his nature a beast so I think his behavior makes sense. He does not know how to love same as XY did not know how to love.
I think saving her from the same ending as her parents especially after the childhood and life she has led was the most unselfish thing he could do. He cant let go of his purpse and his purpose always had one ending. How could he ask her to to suffer again and face her parents later?

Are you saying that you don't think Jing's actions were motivated by his own desires?
No, he didnt only help CX because she was XY's brother. He wanted the world to be a better place and believed in CX's vision. Besides he did all that to help CX without XY even knowing.

Jing had other motivations outside of XY otherwise he never would have married the evil witch in the first place. He believes in honor and want to keep his family together. Until the last moment he contionously gave his brother chances. Jing is way more complex than was potrayed in the drama IMO. Either way, I don't relate to him.

Are you saying that you don't think Jing's actions were motivated by his own desires?
what I was trying to say is that I can relate to the desires of everyone in the novel and can see myself doing the same thing. Where I don’t see myself is making decisions like Jing did based on his desires. He wants to keep his family together, he wants the world to be a better place and he is willing to spend all his money and efforts and give credit to others for it.
Example hiring XL to ruin the wedding for XY’s happiness and is okay if XL take the credit for the idea. I would have been like “TELL HER IT WAS ME WHO SENT YOU” 😅.

it doesn’t sound like we disagree?
I apologize im a little lost if this response for me because I just said the world would be a better place if more people were like Jing.

He will have been because XL has always been the authors favourite and her personal choice. She wanted this story…
I didnt read her notes so I didnt know he was her favorite. Im not very surprised though since his character made even his antis cry.

I recommend that people who are unsatisfied with any of the drama's characters read the novel, starting with the parent story, to really understand each character intimately.
It's quite clear that XY did not end up with the man she loved the most and it was fated to be so from the moment her parents died.

No ML loved her any less, but there was only one who understood who she really was at her core.

It's funny XL was always the hero of the story for me, particularly knowing what he stood for in relation to her father. He was always the most honest, courageous, exciting and most attractive IMO.

However, the most intriguing character was Jing. I'm unsure if it's because his character was unrealistic even in a fantasy novel. I see myself taking the actions of ALL the characters in the novels motivated by their own desires, EXCEPT Jing. I know why he made the choices he made but I just don't understand how he turned out into a person who makes such decisions lol.
A less noble person would call his moves stupid but it would be nice if we lived in a world where his actions and decisions were the most attractive.

You can empathize without agreeing. It's NOT about "infantilizing" women. No one said FFYY didn't deserve it.…
Yes but XL never behaves like anything else but the villain, if anything he embraces it unlike FYY. XL stands on his position and does not blame his actions on anyone else.

still his villainous actions are less selfish compared to FYY.

that won't happen, XL can't give up his ambitions for Her, only if he was able to let go of his grudge.
I agree 💯

I just want to say you are right. FYY is not a victim. As a woman I empathize with the position she was forced in but completely disagree with her choices. I feel the same way about the choices XY made, do i empathize with her? sure, but her support for Gege will lead to her demise and it will be justified. (I’ve always felt the same way even when I read the book years ago).

I hardly find FYY to be the most interesting character in comparison to Xiang Liu.

Botn in unfair circumstances, hated by the people around him, but don’t go around pointing fingers and crying victim. The revenge he wants is only against those who brought harm to him and to prove the innocence or his mentor and to protect his people.
He fights against what he can when he can but embrace the destiny he was dealt with. Until the end he does not act like a victim. he accepts that he is ruthless and stands on his actions without self pity.

it’s hard to really point out his complexity as a character because all of his actions are truly revealed towards the end of the book. However he is the only character who I feel truly feel like stands out from all other novels of similar genre.

FFYY acted in the way that best guaranteed her survival in a world ran by men. She displayed filial piety and…
I’m sorry how does someone’s existence threaten you? this is an excuse for immoral character. a certain country used the same reasoning to destroy an ethnicity/religion and began a whole WWII.

he deserved her the most out of everyone but his responsibility is too great to give up. Her past is too great to move past. If love was enough to keep two people together, her parents would have a different ending.
