I am confused about what the writers are doing here to Mei ZhuYu’s character. If in earlier ep., it show us…
That’s literally the point, he’s slipping. He keeps talking about duty, but the jealousy just shows the feelings he can’t keep in check. That messy contradiction is his character
She's just trying to save her clan members. Can't really blame her..
She tried to use Ting Yan to open the gate but it clearly didn't worked. Also since childhood she is told that killing ML will save her clan, so it clearly sounds more reliable to her (though she should fact check that)
Okay, I get Ruling choosing her people over her new friends, that’s noble and all… but girl, can we at least fact-check before planning murder? Like, how accurate is this ‘kill the ML = freedom for my people’ formula? Because right now she’s siding with the same shady villains who put her people in chains in the first place.
FL's brother is a lost cause. His sister is missing in the woods, he finds out his crush knew and kept quiet, and all he asks for is a half-hearted “sorry.” No anger, no accountability, no recognition of how twisted that is, just a quick apology and back to puppy-dog eyes. He didn’t just miss the red flags, he folded them into a heart shape.
we’re supposed to believe this FL is a legendary general out for revenge, but all she’s done so far is act childish, get drunk, and goof around . And people say 'it’s all part of the plan' okay, sure. Meanwhile, we’re also expected to turn off our brains and accept that no one notices she’s obviously a woman? So we need big brain energy to justify her behavior, but no logic at all when it comes to basic disguise? Make it make sense. Writers and makeup team, she’s not undercover, she’s just painfully underwritten
it's just starting only 4 eps if you're disappointed don't watch then but don't discourage others here
It’s a discussion forum, not a fan club. I’m allowed to be disappointed just like others are allowed to love it. If people can praise it after 1 episode, I can say I’m not feeling it after 4.
Kinda disappointed, tbh. I expected the drama to have a darker tone since it’s a revenge story, but there are way too many funny scenes that throw off the vibe. The FL is super goofy, and even if that’s part of her act, we as viewers should still be able to see glimpses of the sharp, strategic general underneath. Aside from her fighting skills, there’s not much that shows she’s meant to be a respected general in disguise.
The male lead? Literal genius. He had top scores, big dreams, the whole “bright future” package. Now he’s just... barely surviving. And with only a few episodes left, it’s painfully clear they’re not going to explain much. They’ll probably drop one vague line like “he went through a lot” and call it character development. Like?? He deserved an entire arc, not a sad montage.
But the real issue? The female lead. She met him as a kid and decided that was her whole personality. Like truly, her entire character is just being in love with him. No hobbies, no goals, no identity outside of him. He ignored her for years, disappeared without a trace, and she’s still stuck on him like it’s her full-time job. Girl. You can love someone without losing yourself completely.
At this point, I’m watching more out of habit than hope. But I swear, if they wrap all this mess up with a neat little romance bow, I might actually scream.
It’s honestly frustrating to watch female leads portrayed with this exaggerated sense of "kindness"…
FL is too kind to the point of dumb. Second FL straight-up plays her into triggering ML’s trauma, and she’s like, “It’s okay, I get why you didn’t tell me.” Girl, what?! Any sane person would’ve gone, “Wait, why did you leave out the most important part? I just messed someone up!” But nope, she just smiles and lets it slide. Come on.
