Umm is it adopted from a novel or a Webtoon ? If so may I know the name.
It’s not adopted by korean stories. Bollywood has also done similar stories (two movies 1965 and 2008). They have all been inspired by DH Lawrence an early1900s author. The same novelist who wrote the Lady Chatterleys Lover. These are old English classics like wuthering heights and pride and prejudice. Hence lots of dramas/ movies are inspired. I am sure there must also be a Turkish version floating around somewhere.

This is so similar to Bachna se Haseeno a Bollywood movie (2006/2007) which itself is inspired by a 1965 movie, Teen Deviyan (three goddesses).

As a huge fan of The Count of Monte Cristo, I think the series did a fantastic job following its story beats.…
Wi ja hoon would have been great. Especially in a Count of Monte Cristo setting. I don’t understand why he does not get lead roles. Like you I also love count of monte cristo, and have been rereading that book after I watched this drama. Watch the Henry Cavill version, (he is the young son of the Comte). That version is the best. The balloon scene is one of my all time movie favourite scenes.

But the church was also vilified in the drama so I don't find them targeting any particular religion.

One question though? Is the drama anti Buddhist by any chance since the evil perpetrators are shown practicing Buddhist practices or is this me reading too much into it. Personally I don’t like a particular religion practice being vilified. I don’t mind if people tell me that I am overthinking it or my conjecture is stupid.

Yeah, I don’t think Dong Eun and Do Young could have been together since he was married to her sworn enemy.…
The little child would have become the collateral damage if they ended together. So this is a better direction. It would be very hard for a woman to be a surrogate mom to a child whose mother tortured her. Imagine. From the perspective of the child would it have been ok for her to accept a woman as her mom. I am imagining they both move to England since he said she likes football. And there the handsome dad meets a Chinese or a Korean woman who is a catch and they marry

That is a completely valid point. But the others talk like “I hate noona doonsaeng romance as a concept. Hence I will come here and bitch about it.”

I totally agree. Seeing the comments here it seems people would have loved to see her rot in hell as you said it. Unless she was the it girl of the seasons like zhao lu si then these guys would have been ok with the romance.

People who said it was terrible have a fundamental bias against seeing younger men with older women. Because in almost 90 percent of these comments it’s followed by them saying that the age difference was a lot. It’s societal norms and people are very rigid and gender biased when it comes to heteronormative relationships.

I liked her in fight my way. I felt that the director did not give her enough in that drama and still she justified her role.

Why though? After so much unhappiness in her life why is a little happiness bad ? Are victims not worthy of love. Be it acid attack victims, rape victims or burn victims or widows? Just because they don’t fit with society ideal of being young and beautiful and unspoiled?

It’s a Hindu / Buddhist symbol. It kinds of irritates to be associated with nazis. This symbol has been around for thousands of years. You can Google swastika. No Hindu house is complete without this symbol. When you enter a more traditional Hindu house, the courtyard will almost always have a flowerpot with tulsi plant and the pot itself will have swastika in red font. And this is a thousands of years practice. Please don’t conflate it with western racist butchers.
