She didn’t reveal it at that time in the novel either. It happened later, but I’m not going to spoil anything…
Did she already have the baby?

Since we have come so far in the plot, did they expose who was responsible for the destruction of the Shen clan, or is that to come?

Acrually, we probably won’t see court politics because ML resigned and moved back to his hometown.
Me, too! I skipped some scenes to get to the last ten minutes.

I think it will happen in the next episode. At the current rate of pace, Lanxiang should deliver her baby in the first ten minutes.

will there be a Part 2 of this drama ? I am already sad that it is nearing its end :(
Part 2 started already. They ran them back to back. Hence the 47 episode count! Earlier in the comment section, someone mentioned the number of episodes in Part 1 and Part 2.

I interpreted it as a montage of what politics really was(and is). It was an indirect nod to what lanxiang had…
I am surprised that this play that Lanxiang wrote, has not been challenged by the Emperor's people. They can't be that dense, not to read between the lines.

Some thoughts about ep 39,• I expected something different from LX's play. I thought she would give JQ hints…
Very good analysis! It felt like the writers put episode 39 script on 2X speed. They needed to get to the pregnancy fast, and jumped the hurdles. They must be running out of time.

He hasn't interfaced much with Emperor, who seems to be a bit player.

She had 3 daughters (we saw the 3 young kids with her stepdaughter who's a young lady). But no son.
Thanks. It looked like the Lin bloodline has more females and males, so there is no surprise she would have three daughters in a row. It might also apply to Marquis Yuan's bloodline. I wondered who those little children belonged to.

I think they have 3 daughters so her MIL is pushing for a concubine.
Thank you for the information. I missed the reference to the three daughters. She looked so desolate, as she had not given birth. I thought she was pregnant a few episodes ago.

i feel like they could've cut more other scenes and gave better explanations for the relationship of Lin jinqi…
Is Director and Writers going to explain the reconciliation with flashbacking? What are they going to fill up the final eight episodes with? It can't be all Lin melodrama. There must be some war or palace conflict brewing bts. Jingqi has to exonerate Mr Shen, and restore Lanxiang's identity.

Thank you for your concise overview of episode 39. I am at a loss. They dragged out some subplots earlier in the drama, and then sped up time in episode 39.

With 47 episodes, they had enough time to explain some of loop holes you mentioned. I can't wait for this drama to end, which should have been a week ago, if they aired two daily episodes.

Title Against the Current Spoiler
This one-a-day episode schedule has slowed down the momentum, and the absence of an episode on Wednesday did not help matters. I breezed through episode 39, and missed Lin Jing Qi's retirement from the imperial court. I gathered this information, reading the comments.

I shed a few tears when Lin Jing Lan died. He was my favorite Lin, and the actor looked handsome, as well. I wish that he had held his beautiful baby son before passing, but this might be superstitious in China. If they had filmed it, the entire viewing population would have been wailing.

Lanxiang and Jingqi's reconcilation was tender, but it just dropped into the episode. I guess the details fell through the cracks during a time jump.

What happened to Marquis Yuan and the Lin wife? Why didn't they have a child yet? Did they marry three years ago? Maybe she should accompany him as a military wife, and work on getting pregnant.

The award however must go to the background (mostly foreground) music. They were so distracting from the actors…
Chinese and S Korean viewers must love loud BGM. It used to irritate me, that I stopped watching Kdramas. I started turning off the volume on the Cdramas, when the music and singing revved up.
