I think they have 3 daughters so her MIL is pushing for a concubine.
Thank you for the information. I missed the reference to the three daughters. She looked so desolate, as she had not given birth. I thought she was pregnant a few episodes ago.
i feel like they could've cut more other scenes and gave better explanations for the relationship of Lin jinqi…
Is Director and Writers going to explain the reconciliation with flashbacking? What are they going to fill up the final eight episodes with? It can't be all Lin melodrama. There must be some war or palace conflict brewing bts. Jingqi has to exonerate Mr Shen, and restore Lanxiang's identity.
I had such high hopes for this episode; at the cemetery, I thought we had moved past the "hold back because…
Thank you for your concise overview of episode 39. I am at a loss. They dragged out some subplots earlier in the drama, and then sped up time in episode 39.
Like many others, I found today's episode less exciting than the long wait had led us to hope.More than the lack…
With 47 episodes, they had enough time to explain some of loop holes you mentioned. I can't wait for this drama to end, which should have been a week ago, if they aired two daily episodes.
This one-a-day episode schedule has slowed down the momentum, and the absence of an episode on Wednesday did not help matters. I breezed through episode 39, and missed Lin Jing Qi's retirement from the imperial court. I gathered this information, reading the comments.
I shed a few tears when Lin Jing Lan died. He was my favorite Lin, and the actor looked handsome, as well. I wish that he had held his beautiful baby son before passing, but this might be superstitious in China. If they had filmed it, the entire viewing population would have been wailing.
Lanxiang and Jingqi's reconcilation was tender, but it just dropped into the episode. I guess the details fell through the cracks during a time jump.
What happened to Marquis Yuan and the Lin wife? Why didn't they have a child yet? Did they marry three years ago? Maybe she should accompany him as a military wife, and work on getting pregnant.
The award however must go to the background (mostly foreground) music. They were so distracting from the actors…
Chinese and S Korean viewers must love loud BGM. It used to irritate me, that I stopped watching Kdramas. I started turning off the volume on the Cdramas, when the music and singing revved up.
This had so much potential the writers dropped the ball centering the story around the FL and not the ML. The…
She did not really do revenging until the last few episodes. We saw a lot of Xie Shu and First Madam. Commisioner Hu was good looking. Did he like County Princess? She was a lot younger than him.
the fl is so annoying 🙄 as always they made the drama female eccentric. i needed to see more of shen run’s…
The Director and Writers did not give Father Shen sufficient credit for his ideologies and vision. Was he married at the time that Xie Shu liked FL's mother? I was getting vibes that Shen and the woman liked each other, and she agreed to marry Xie because there was no future with Shen. Shen also seemed to be following Xie Shu. He also seemed old, compared to young Xie Shu.
I stayed for Xu Kai, and the fact that it was a short drama. I might have dropped it if he wasn't popping in an out frequently, and if it went to 40 episodes of Xie melodrama.

The BGM bordered on cinematic movie and modern drama. Some music reminded me of Kdramas that I used to watch 100% for many years. The music composer did a good job composing the music, and matching them to scenes.
Xie Shu dominated the plot, especially toward the end. The man had so many emotions. Hard to emphasize with him during his lucid moments! What will be the official investigation into his death reveal? That he fell asleep in bed, and a candle fell over and caught the tapestry on fire, and burnt down the residence? I can understand that fire purges the sins, but they could have turned the Xie Residence into a village community for the poor Hengtang people, and improve their living conditions. All the gilded things could have been converted to cash to feed and clothe the poor.
The ending was OK, not amazing.
1) Xie Shu and Old Madam Granny Xie/Lu dominated the final arc with their side story. Granted the two actors outperformed the entire cast with their acting skills in those last two episodes.
2) Where was Shen Che's love line? Director and Writers could have shown Shen Che and Dong Fang Chun riding off into the sunset together.
3) Li Cong Xin and Xie Qing Ru's reconciliation could have been shortened.
4) Xie Qing Rong was writing sutras, and having a vision of Scholar Zhou. The writers could have shown them together, to show that Zhou survived his wound, and they were a promising couple.
