If you don't trust you boyfriend then don't date - ML and his best friend don't have any backbone when it comes to their girlfriends. She's a concubine and as such she's considered a property juste like the maids. Her son being adopted by a legitimate wife might have been to let him have more rights. He'll be able to inherit which wouldn't have been the case as a concubine's son.
So she might have been convinced that giving her son away for adoption to a legitimate wife -more so to someone who isn't able to have her own children, will be better for the kid.
