After seeing all the good reviews, I had high hope! but it was just toxic!
It actually wasn't, but since it doesn't gloss over the questionable behavior and has some layers that you can miss if you don't pay attention, it's easy to label it as toxic. When both characters grow under the influence of each other and make positive changes in their life, that's not toxic.
This was so bad wow, how 2 fall in love (limerence) with your ableist bully 💀 but if yall like this go ahead.…
Oh, it's not them, it's you. The series was such a hit, that a second season and a movie were greenlit almost as soon as the first had ended. Both seasons won the (probably) biggest TV award in Japan and the movie was a box office hit. The two main leads' acting careers really took off after it (yes, even Hagiwara Riku said that this drama was a big turning point for him career-wise). This drama gets recommended by movie directors, producers and a popular male mangaka, among others. The novel series the drama is based on is one of the most popular (if not The most popular) BL novel series in Japan. The author loved the adaptation, btw.
You're free to hate it, of course, but plenty of people actually saw this as a good idea and liked the final result. Also thank God it wasn't another cliched school story, and the plot actually moved past the graduation.
It ended one of the ways I wanted it to end, and they never slacked on layered dialogue with unexpected references to some previous lines. It was a great series that never went downhill, and I hope it gets fully subbed one day so that more people can enjoy it too.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series. It was very tightly packed (if anything, I'd love one more episode) and humane, which you probably won't expect from the synopsis. They didn't even go overboard with comedy, which many shows do, IMO. Suzuka Ouji's acting was also a pleasant surprise. I've seen him in several Goody-Two-Shoes roles, and he didn't leave much of impression. I hope he'll get to play more diverse roles after the bitchy and hauty but good-hearted Yanai Riku.
But they seem pretty sure that they're not each other's type (that moment was so fun)... Casting-wise, I can see…
And that's precisely why I don't have an account there, as Japanese subs can be found elsewhere. I don't know if it's just your wording or you're really being rude, but I don't owe you anything.
The link to existing English subs can be found in the comments below. I took a quick look at the sars fansubs twitter, and it doesn't seem like they're working on this series. If you think that they do, it's better to ask them directly instead of expecting others to do the work for you. Besides, they might not want people to share their subs on other sites.
Agree! Mayu and Riku look good together but for some reason, they lack chemistry as Sora and Miri, I'm confused…
Can't say I'm dying from excitement, but I do support them and don't want them to end up with other people. I've been in Miri's situation (and worse) financially, so I don't find her frustrating. I know how debilitating on the mind a lack of means and future prospects can be. I actually like that she hasn't been magically pulled from that mire by someone offering her a great job, and she's still stuck in that soul-sucking retailer, while pulling herself together through other means. I think Sora was drawn to her fragility, among other things, at first - he must've felt inadequate, at least subconsciously, next to the always put-together Sana. He and Miri are not the most exciting couple, but for me this drama is more about autumn melancholy (and pulling through it), so I don't really mind. They fit the theme.
I can't wrap my head around one thing in episode 7: if everyone's Midori-chan is indeed the same person, how could she has been both in the same year as Tsubaki And the supplementary classes teacher for Yukue if Tsubaki is only two years older than Yukue?
But they seem pretty sure that they're not each other's type (that moment was so fun)... Casting-wise, I can see…
Tsubaki and Yukue did have that "You're a good person - You're a good teacher" conversation in one of the first episodes, and got a bit more interaction in the latest episode. It's not much, but still it's something.
I can't help but ship Tsubaki and Momiji - too bad that they won't become canon. But seriously, with their therapeutic…
I was saying that Momiji so far has a better fleshed out connection with Tsubaki than with Yukue. And as for Tsubaki, he doesn't seem to have any romantic interest in Yoyo, and though he clearly cares about all of them, Momiji is the one he seems to be the closest to. I realize that it's highly unlikely that we'll see a same-sex relationship here, but a girl can dream :)
And honestly, I enjoy seeing all four of them together so much that I would be happy if they remain as friends in the end and have romantic relationships with people outside of their group, if at all.
After watching the last episode, I now ship Tsubaki with Yukue and want them to end up together. I just like them…
I can't help but ship Tsubaki and Momiji - too bad that they won't become canon. But seriously, with their therapeutic phone calls, "you coming to my place tonight?", Tsubaki rushing home, Momiji deliberately "forgetting" a napkin, staying for the night and almost moving in... Honestly, he has a much better connection with Tsubaki than with Yukue, though it's not like they don't try to develop him and Yukue.
This one hits home for me, it makes you wonder why is it so complicated to be friends with the opposite gender.🥲…
A lot of things they say or show about friendships in this show are very relatable. And the things the main four say... they cut deep but so very gently. I really enjoyed the first two episodes.

Erm, sounds like you're talking about American TV series. Japanese dramas are usually on the other side of the spectrum.
