I really like Zhao Ye and Song Yi as actresses, but when the current trend and society demands that they remain skinny as hell, it's just a wee bit hard to see them as plausible fierce warriors lifting heavy weapons etc. Altho' I am the first to willingly suspend disbelief when watching cdramas, the credibility gap just niggles away. Above all, sha qi has to be there and maybe some just have it and some don't. LQ is able to project credible, palpable sha qi. Ah where's Michelle Yeoh when you need her 🤣

In the novel, she was a longtime, maybe even childhood BFF, so that was ok. But in the drama, wihout a similar backstory, just really bad portrayal/poor acting I think........unless they really intend her to play some other role down the line.

Her character is not developed much, just like the doctor's, which is why they jar with the audience. She's practically a caricature of a lovesick fool.

Yes, she’s just really young, sheltered and inexperienced. Am not sure why they based this on an actual novel when the drama and the novel appear to be completely different. However, in the novel she was also the same clueless lovesick character so I guess they are sticking with that.

Yes, somehow I can’t get the colours/picture on the TV (granted am currently in an Airbnb) to look right. But I guess we ought to be grateful that at least there’s no overuse of flares this time, like in Story of Kunning Palace. Even now, when I rewatch SOKP, there is much gnashing of teeth and reaching for sunglasses when some huge light or supernova suddenly bursts on screen obscuring Zhang Ling He’s awesome jawline, which is just criminal.

I suspect she found out and objected to the plan for some reason. If she was in the dark and shot that arrow merely as part of her duty as a soldier, there's no reason for him to say that she's forcing him to take action against her. Plus the Susha traitor is insisting she die, probably cos she knows who he is.

Love the plot pace so far, but a little worried cos we seem to be figuring out a lot of things and it's only ep 10..............how are they filling it till ep 38? sooooo much room for meandering and dodofication of the characters

Totally. So decisive and ruthless when he needs to be - snapping idiot plotter's neck in an instant was so refreshingly efficient. But also acting according to his own principles as the dad points out............

Fingers and everything else crossed that neither of the leads suddenly become dodos in the middle of the story.

The way she brings it up after Ning Fei tells her that XJS received advance info and set a trap for FSG, introduces the possibility that she might have found out about the hidden plot and did not want to go along with it for some reason. Just speculating..........At any rate, she still saved FSG's ass and his army from a worse fate by shooting him but not fatally, something an expert archer like her would presumably be able to control.

If she did discover the plot and the identity of the Susha traitor (MY being the frontrunner at the moment) I suppose this is why ultimate baddie needs her to be silenced pronto.

Oh hoho, if as FYX says by actually shooting FSG on the battlefield she saved him and his army from being ambushed and crushed by XJS..........wow he's gonna owe her one hell of an apology for kicking her around the room. Think another 50 lashes and several more bites might be in order 😂

Watch her in The Song of Glory. She was totally badass there too.

Ok the plot is really thickening now with twists and the ultimate baddie emerging.......Now why does the ultimate villain need her to die so desperately - is there a personal vendetta or he's just scared she will remember his identity? Hope the plotline doesn't collapse or develop holes moving forward.
