Cui Shi Jiu is such a hypocrite. On one hand she asks what’s wrong with being a woman and participating in business, yet on the other hand she looks down on women and belittles the FL’s efforts to improve her life through business as well.
She thinks that dressing as a man makes her more powerful? Lol, what a joke. Cosplaying as a man doesn’t suddenly make you more powerful, it’s your ability to stand by your principles and using your smarts to outwit your enemies is what makes you powerful. She’s just a brat. Smh.
FL’s friend always wears elegant and feminine clothing, and that doesn’t make her any less trade savvy.
Your clothes do not make you one way or another, it’s your character. Be proud of your sex, and look to find strength in it, not shallow appearances.
Glad you said this, yes in the perfect world he would make the perfect husband. However, in the show everything…
Most importantly, Yan’s enemies aren’t the type who will let you live a peaceful life just because they feel like it. That young master of the Cui family is very blood thirsty. She’d take any opportunity to destroy him and his trade. The Cui family and the Xu representative are dealing in dirty business, they cannot stand anybody threatening to expose them. In Yan’s case, he must fight them, or he won’t even know how he died.
What you have described is incredibly lonely. I hope she finds love and a haven from betrayal and despair.
Money is meaningless if you’re alone. Once you die, all of your memories will be about just working hard all the time and hoarding money. Certainly not a life worth living imo.
I sincerely dislike ZJR. Every time he pitches in his two cents, I just want to roll my eyes. He’s got no idea what hardships people have gone through, yet judges anybody who wants to do something about it. I don’t endorse vengeance either, but the way he goes about it, just pisses me off.
The ending was perfection. In the first episode, we saw a family that appeared united, but was actually fractioned, the ending however gives us a beautiful scene of an even bigger family, at peace with each other and happy.
The plot of the drama certainly reminded me of Story of Minglan, and I say this as a compliment. It teaches us many things, but most importantly that family is very important and it’s one’s refuge no matter how tumultuous the world outside is.
I wonder if the scriptwriters are able to sleep at night with as much scolding as they’ve been getting lately…
At least nobody blames the lead actors, they did a very good job, especially LXY who is absolutely exceptional, and his tortured acting is completely on point.
I don't understand the family chart cuz how is the 6th sister end up with her uncle? isn't that like marrying…
In ancient China, it was very important to differentiate between Mother’s and Father’s relatives. The Father’s relatives are considered internal family, and you wouldn’t marry your paternal cousin for example, but a mother’s family is considered external, so you could marry a maternal cousin.
Now, in this case the kinship is even further removed, because the 6th Uncle is the younger brother of the 2nd Aunt, who’s got no kinship to the 6th Luo Young Lady beyond the ties of marriage. So it’s entirely acceptable for them to marry.
Yiniang putting on Shen Yuan’s post-registration coronet and clothes doesn’t look like a sister helping a sibling, but a wifey helping her husband before he goes to work 🤭🤭
Fun fact! The mother of the FL is called Minglan, which is the name of the heroine from “Story of Minglan” with a similar plot (father favouring the concubine and mother dying as a result of the concubine’s evil scheming) and her last name is Gu, which is “Story of Minglan”’s heroine’s husband’s last name. I wonder if that name was chosen on purpose 🤭
