many are complaining the drama should be way longer and the 40ep restrictions have been a negative impact yet…
That's because those "many" are fanboys & fangirls, and I'm not. Sure, I like the show overall (at least so far, though if what some comments said about it becoming very angsty shortly is true, that might change), but I could live without it, and I'm only watching it for entertainment, not because of the actors, the genre, the source material,...
I haven't watched a lot of Chinese shows, but it feels like the series length is actively working against this one. The dream arc felt like downright murder it was so draggy. I felt like it lasted for 20 episodes, where it could've been settled in just one or two. And the constant flipflopping of the FL regarding her feelings for the ML, dear god. I swear sometimes she actually flipflops several times per episode. Some serious condensing of the material would've done the show a lot of good, I think.
Finally, I gotta say that the FL's brother and the fox have outright stolen the show. They're just so freaking adorable, not to mention the fox's well thought-out tragic backstory.
Honestly, I want all the characters, with the exception of the FL's best friend, to just go away. -The ML is a…
Like I wrote, I'll give it two more episodes due to the female lead actress (I loved her in Goblin and Touch Your Heart, and she's the reason I started watching this show in the first place). Though I doubt it'll help much, as I seriously dislike the kind of awkward/embarrassed humour the show appears to be heavily relying on.
To those who want the EX to just go away. I don't know how ENA markets their drama but:1) They spent money on…
Honestly, I want all the characters, with the exception of the FL's best friend, to just go away. -The ML is a stalker-lite. -The FL is hysterical (the negative meaning of the word, obviously). -The FL's sister is a moron (seriously, it's obvious the FL broke up with her boyfriend, yet she goes and talks to him about how badly she's dealing with it...). -The ML's boss isn't really that bad, but has no redeeming qualities. -The FL's ex is a cheater. 'Nuff said. -The ML's ex seems normal and well-adjusted from what little we've seen of her, so I assume she's not gonna appear anymore (aside from when the ML goes on a stalk), except for the ending to try to get the ML back or some shit like that for the mandatory Korean romcom breakup. -The FL's best friend's husband is a stereotypical clocked-out husband, nothing more. -The new female employee at the publisher just screams future boss' stalker.
The FL's best friend seems the only worthwhile character so far.
Seriously, 4 episodes in, more than a quarter of the show, and I've yet to see anything that would make me empathise or get attached to the characters. All the shit they're dealing with is of their own making. I'll stick with it for a couple more episodes due to the actress playing the FL, but if it doesn't get better then I'm out.
i guess korea is as obssessed as white people when it comes to incest themed movies/shows lmao
It's really weird, I gotta admit. I don't know if it's true or a case of frequency illusion, but after Game of Thrones, it feels like incest has become much more common in (at least) American TV and films.
Before I decide whether to watch this or not, I have to know one important thing: Why teenagers? Did in-universe South Korea completely run out of adults or something? Because in a total war scenario, it would most likely go like it went in WWII; men switched from working to fighting, and women switched from homemaking to working, and in this universe, it would be men and women switching from working to fighting, and children going from learning to working.
I just can't imagine a rational explanation for throwing children into combat without first exhausting all the other age groups.
Normally I dislike FLs pushing themselves on MLs and dressing up being rude and selfish as cute, however with…
The cast/characters were doing all the heavy lifting for this show in my opinion, as the plot was downright terrible with some massive plot holes (seriously, the FL was supposedly inseparable best friends with the ML's dead lover, yet she didn't even know what the ML looked like, in the age of smartphones when everyone is constantly taking pictures, letting the killer pretend to be the ML...). The ML was great as is tradition for the actor, the FL was brilliant and brought every scene she was in to life, and the side characters were fun and had an actual personality. Honestly, if the plot was better written, this would've been in my top 5 favourite Kdramas.
I wonder if the studio recognises the opportunity for a spinoff tragiromcom about the deity (and possibly the new flower) this show created. Might have to wait a few years for her character to reach at least university age, but throw in cameos from the rest of the DAYS cast (or maybe even bring some back as support/side characters), centre the plot around the deity's dying body, and they've got the recipe for a pretty good show in my opinion.
Haven't watched this show yet, is the FL 100% dead (as in body shown and/or buried)? Because usually in cases…
Aah. Thanks for answering. There are a couple of other options as to how it could have a "happy" ending; the ML dies as well and they move on as ghosts together, or the FL possesses a body. Kinda sounds too convoluted though, probably gonna end as you described, with the FL moving on after catching her killer.
The premiere was fun. I can see it more on the comical side with a little serious undertone to it. So I can sense…
Haven't watched this show yet, is the FL 100% dead (as in body shown and/or buried)? Because usually in cases like this the woman is in a coma or something.
I love hiiiiim, I read somewhere that he doesn't want to do rom-coms lately, but I really wish he would do one…
Can't blame him. In I Am Not A Robot, his acting was good overall, but he was best during the big reveal, where he had to portray rage, betrayal, and despair, all at the same time. And cases like that aren't really common in romcoms.
Loved the ending, so happy they didnt force a happy ending like every other show.
Agreed, though it must be said that I've never seen a romcom lead couple more deserving of breaking up and staying broken up than this one.
Also, the ML making up with his mother was pure BS. The damage she caused him along with her control-freak personality pretty much guarantees they'd fall out again shortly.
Eun Beom should sincerely consider getting a therapy for his childhood trauma. I can understand him not wanting…
Only 2 episodes left, and my initial stance since the early episodes, that they should absolutely not get back together, is even firmer. -Their first run at marriage was terrible, as the ML was so unhappy that he faked an affair and was willing to pay alimony just to get out of it, and the FL had no idea, much less that it was because of her. -One spouse wanting children and the other not is a deal breaker any way you slice it. -The ML is just not marriage material. The phrase "afraid of commitment" comes to mind.
Oh, and as for the FL's phone call with her mother, I'm like 80% sure that it wasn't about the ML, as her mother clearly wanted them to not get back together, child or no child.
It's a romcom. We know how it'll end. The leads will get back together and decide to have a baby :(.
This was really fun to watch, especially because they never took anything too far into ridiculous territory. The ML character is famous but not bigger than Jesus, the FL's rival isn't some psycho who schemes random shit, the FL is strong but not superhuman, there was no utterly insane misunderstanding that made one want to tear out their hair (and the misunderstandings that were present were reasonable and resolved in less than two episodes),...
All in all, it was just a fun, entertaining watch.
The more episodes I see, the more I think the leads shouldn't get back together. The ML *was* a coward, and the FL *is* vindictive and spiteful. And they're both unprofessional as fuck, and their clients should get new lawyers. I honestly find the second leads more interesting.
Oh, and what the SFL did by stealing the ML's files and sharing them with the FL is gotta be breaking the law, right?
I decided to watch for shits and giggles after the ep1. Probably for bickering chemistry etc. If O take this seriously…
It's a shame, really, because I quite enjoyed the side characters. They weren't over-the-top batshit crazy as they tend to be in Korean romcoms, they were just the right level of silly to be entertaining but not cringeworthy.
