The screenwriter killed off her husband by giving him a tumor and half a year to live. Like that wasn't terrible…
The pregnancy plot was not necessary at all, I agree with that. It's not that the writer had one sad ending and one happy ending. It's that everyone but Jelly Lin's character and her husband had a happy ending (Even the guy who ran the hotel became successful and had a family). Her being miserable 90% of the drama wasn't enough, they had to take her husband away and have her live alone in another country. The writer couldn't even let her get her ultimate dream of being an actress. For the life of me I don't understand why out of all the characters she had to be the sacrificial lamb.

Not waiting. She was a widow. She never remarried. She was alone in Paris after her husband died for like 20 years. She went through the worst in the drama and had the worst ending in my opinion.

And lets not forget that she never got to live her dream as an actress. When Bai Yu's character got to finally become a script writer and produce movies, I thought that'd be a shoe-in way to get her character some semblance of happiness. But nope, the scriptwriter just wanted her to be miserable.
I love how the sisters and grandma all represented a pecticular season. I do wish the second couple had more time together because I would have loved to see their dating era but overall I think the drama was beautifully written and all the main characters were likeable--the doctor girl can choke and lose her license for all I care, though.
What a waste of time watching this. Did the screenwriter have a personal issue with Jelly Lin because I swear…
The screenwriter killed off her husband by giving him a tumor and half a year to live. Like that wasn't terrible enough it seems like she's been all alone for the past twenty years in Paris. But every other character seemed to be happy and thriving in their couples.
What a waste of time watching this. Did the screenwriter have a personal issue with Jelly Lin because I swear he was on a mission to make her character miserable? I hated so much how her story arc was written.
This guy actually did well on Always on the move though. But his writing on female character sometimes will definitely…
Always on the Move is one of my favorite dramas. But yes, even in that drama and Born to Be Alive some of the female characters could have been written better. I did like the FL in Always on the move and Zhuang Zhuang in this one. But for some reason he can't write multiple good female characters. Even in Born to Be Alive although I enjoyed it, he constanstly made the FL incompetent at times.
I watched the whole thing, and I'm still confused at when exactly these two fell in love? Overall very forgettable and lackluster drama. The only upside is that this is the first time I've ever considered Xu Hai Qiao somewhat attractive.
Agreed. I don't like a single character. The script is just too dumb. The acting is awful. How did this get produced?
It's produced by VivaOne. The web novel must be really popular because thats all they do is adapt popular wattapad stories and produce them. They don't care about bad acting.
Like I knew going in it'd be dumb becaue I've watched VivaOne's dramas but this is on whole new level.
The screenwriter is so predictable. He lets the characters almost achieve success, and then snatches it from them to prolong the story. I rolled my eyes at Zhuang Zhuang's mother being sick and Xu Shen Li not being able to produce the movie because this was obvious if you watched the drama from the start. Also the way the screenwriter wrote Jelly Lin and the 2ML's characters to be so miserable is so infurating. Those two were the happiest at the start and now look at them.
Having dreams doesn't mean you have to be miserable to achieve your goal. I wish the writer could understand the concept instead of writing the same episode back to back with a splash of gang violence here and there for some razzle dazzle. If the drama wasn't almost done I'd drop it.
I gave it four episodes, but this is just too stupid for me. I can deal with the bad acting, the illogical plot, but the stupidity of every single character is too much for me.
I read the book, ZLH is exactly how the character is described in the book. And I assure you, even if he wasn't wearing makeup the man would still be pretty. What do they want him to do alter his face? At the end of the day it's an idol drama no one is seeking realism.
We have twelve episodes left and so far, not one person has remotely come close to achieving their dream. Now the main leads are in Russia, of all places, selling clothes?
I also don't understand what they're doing to Jelly Lin's character. First, she got the role of 3rd female lead after going well and beyond to appease the director, only for them to snatch away the role. She then sucked up to a new man, stopped when it became too much and now she's relying on him? This is very dangerous and annoying to watch. I get that a lot of people have to have connections to become an actress, but how amazing would it have been if we watched her become an actress without ever having to do that?
I hope the next few episodes get back on track because I really want the main focus back on them trying to reach their dreams. It's starting to become like filler episodes, although the leads romance scenes are always the hightlight for me
This drama had the potential to be a masterpiece. The politics was messy and not as fleshed out as it should have been, and I blame the 40-episode cut-off. It would have been better if they had gone the route of Lost You Forever and Flourished Peony and made this a two-part drama.
I will give this drama some credit, though, the romance, cinematography, fight scenes (I wish there was more) and acting was well done, so for that reason alone, I'll rate it a 9.5.
Does anyone know why this drama keeps getting unnecessary hate on Twitter? It hasn’t even been released yet
The keep comparing it to short drama republican dramas. They believe all those dramas are toxic, trashy, and don't have good storylines. Every time they saw a clip of behind the scenes where ZLH's character grabbed the FL or kissed her they'd get pissed as if anyone is forcing them to watch.
That poor soldier probably thinks Si Mu and Duan Xu are into some kinky stuff when he caught Si Mu on top of Duan Xu with her hand around his neck. 😂This show has a lot more humor than I was expecting. And side note, whoever is doing the makeup is doing amazing, Dilarba looks so beautiful.
