Honestly, it's good. Minus that ridiculous ending. Just like on my beginning days playing chess and get the checkmate by eliminating as much as possible my enemy chess pieces while promoting three of my pawns to queens and chase my opponent's King like a thirsty lady 😌 I'm tired with those classic idiotic oligarchy power hungry or money hungry kinda story 😔 I think I feel sick over my cake, let's now refresh myself with some beverage. I found Heroes from a neighbour country eye catching, so if that's your cup of tea, see ya in there! After all, it was a pleasant experience, the last two months. Thank you, Again My Life!
Could be... or maybe you have gotten a better picture of what you like?
What I like is a good story in whatever genre possibly. I mean, I could easily hooked by Hikaru No Go yesterday, then tearing up to Someday or One day today, get thrilled by Glory of Special Forces the next day, and ranting the silly death of the sect leader in Who Rules the World at night. I believe there are two major approach that drama enthusiasts use to value a drama, either from story or production quality. I am the one that prefer story above anything. As long as a drama have a good story, I don't mind my intelligence being insulted like in Under the Skin. Honestly, I was laughing at my own willingness to be insulted by it all along my watching experience. For the same reason I hold up to Sword Snow Stride despite their ridiculous action scenes. I also don't mind with the classic trope Mary Sue and whatever nonsense CEO things like in Well Intended, long as it has an interesting point that I am not sure myself.
Surely, my standard to choose worthy drama depends on the country. It easier to differentiate good Korean drama and not-so-good Korean drama than Chinese, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japanese dramas. Rather than said that I already got a bigger picture of my taste, I would said that I've gotten eyes and hunch of what was made with thoughtful efforts and professional dedication that have higher possibility to satisfy my desire over adrenalin and dopamine. Thus, the quality became priority. And the only reason I dropped a drama that I choose to watch after a long consideration was 'it's not interesting!' with whatever explanation I found many days after, also when a drama stepped out of my bottom line, whether it's my morality, my integrity, or my idealism. Like animal abuse or other sensitive issues.
I wasn't sure about this drama at first. After all, I dislike Zheng shunxi's last drama Rebirth For You. But at lunch today, I really have nothing to watch and kinda in rush, so I tried one episode. And voila! What an epic opening 😍 I love the hero song and the old man that sing it. It was so breathtaking and rich! Not to say how the drama start flexing money since the very first episode. When I watched the parade scene, I was like "wasehh, wasehh, qian, qian, ge wo qian 😆" I love the cinematograph, the story is not boring, except for the magic wuxia action that's always typical in nowadays wuxia world, the drama very much enjoyable. I ended up watching straight 5 episodes since the evening lol 😆. Wish will continue to live up my first impression 🐬🐬🐬
Before I'm 25, I barely dropped any drama. There always things to learn even in the worst one. But recently, I feel like I have enough 😂. I only want to watch a good one. So, I did really got into quite deep research before decide to watch one. If I wasn't sure about the drama but the actors, the director, or the screenwriter is one on my favor then I'll try one or two episodes. Once my hunch said it didn't worth my time, I'd dropped it right away. Maybe because I was getting old and time became more precious.
Woshh! Today's episode was so legit! Since the first episode, I always thought this drama was too dark and too…
Honestly, the most hateable character here could easily be the Minister Park instead I grew loathed the King 😂. This episode justified Minister Park's action. I mean, he helped the previous king to set up a new dynasty because the old one was too tyrants. But the previous King was just too weak to be a King. So he was raised to be the real King himself with his own power. Then with what audacity did both of the previous and the current King think they could ask for his absolute loyalty when both of the kings were incompetent enough to prove themselves? In an era and place where 'democracy' isn't yet a common idea and monarchy was the only governmental form justifiable by its society, Minister Park actually did very well. And if the King wants absolute power then he must fight for it, yet he was just hopeless 😂. Till episode 7, I thought Minister Park was unbeatable. But, episode 8 gave me clarity that he was not invincible, none just yet good enough to face him until Miss Yoo/ex-crown princess/Miss Park join the game. She nailed it! And I am hooked on it. With only a single move she could make the powerful Minister Park back off even admiring her wisdom. Truly living her name/ description of her from her father that she was the only one qualified enough to be a queen and if she was born as a man, she would be a great Minister. Ironically also proved, how incompetent the kings were. I mean if he isn't capable enough to play the game and take the favour on his side, then he should satisfied with being a king by blood!

I know is like a chess game but like playing the same game over and over nothing moves forward....
There's "fighting for justice" but not "action" tags in it. But I guess, Good luck 😉 Besides, if you do not know what is chess game, don't mislead others by the same empty assumption, that's too funny 🦉

Or maybe know but think that the King didn't know and just want to provoke the King
