I indeed captivated by the dynamic relationships between LRE, KYG, and SEP. The chemistry between LRE and KYG is strong that I wish they heal each other and that KYG actually have nothing to do with what happened to LRE. It's just so fascinating to watch. But! There is but π There's one thing makes me feel uncomfortable in it. The over brutal nonsense violence in this drama is way over make sense or acceptable by my incompetent drama logic. It's just so outdated troupe of story that make your villain and absolute evil with only greediness revolved in their lives π And I can see how hard SYJ tried to shake her shattered image through this drama. Though she indeed play the character flawlessly but it's so obviously overact at some point.
Are they really going to keep sacrificing Lee Tae's character? π I mean, till last week was enough to make him purposely weak, ridiculous, cloud minded, and arrogant with a little drop of intelligence to support PGW reasonable actions to prevent an absolute monarch to formed once again. I truly hope this week they will keep the spice up with a bit of twist that Lee Tae was just not multitasking kind of person, that all this time he was focused on plotting against his step-mother, that he was the one sent the monk to manipulate the queen dowager, that he just play dead and wait all the sh*t gathered and wiped them all at once, that he isn't one same kind of my toddler brother thinking if he is indeed the master of the game, the true chessplayer, when all he done was forcefully makes the knight jump over and eat the King. Please π only tomorrow episode the final hopes I can hanging on. Please π make him worth this game π£
Honestly, it's good. Minus that ridiculous ending. Just like on my beginning days playing chess and get the checkmate by eliminating as much as possible my enemy chess pieces while promoting three of my pawns to queens and chase my opponent's King like a thirsty lady π I'm tired with those classic idiotic oligarchy power hungry or money hungry kinda story π I think I feel sick over my cake, let's now refresh myself with some beverage. I found Heroes from a neighbour country eye catching, so if that's your cup of tea, see ya in there! After all, it was a pleasant experience, the last two months. Thank you, Again My Life!
Could be... or maybe you have gotten a better picture of what you like?
What I like is a good story in whatever genre possibly. I mean, I could easily hooked by Hikaru No Go yesterday, then tearing up to Someday or One day today, get thrilled by Glory of Special Forces the next day, and ranting the silly death of the sect leader in Who Rules the World at night. I believe there are two major approach that drama enthusiasts use to value a drama, either from story or production quality. I am the one that prefer story above anything. As long as a drama have a good story, I don't mind my intelligence being insulted like in Under the Skin. Honestly, I was laughing at my own willingness to be insulted by it all along my watching experience. For the same reason I hold up to Sword Snow Stride despite their ridiculous action scenes. I also don't mind with the classic trope Mary Sue and whatever nonsense CEO things like in Well Intended, long as it has an interesting point that I am not sure myself.
Surely, my standard to choose worthy drama depends on the country. It easier to differentiate good Korean drama and not-so-good Korean drama than Chinese, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japanese dramas. Rather than said that I already got a bigger picture of my taste, I would said that I've gotten eyes and hunch of what was made with thoughtful efforts and professional dedication that have higher possibility to satisfy my desire over adrenalin and dopamine. Thus, the quality became priority. And the only reason I dropped a drama that I choose to watch after a long consideration was 'it's not interesting!' with whatever explanation I found many days after, also when a drama stepped out of my bottom line, whether it's my morality, my integrity, or my idealism. Like animal abuse or other sensitive issues.
I wasn't sure about this drama at first. After all, I dislike Zheng shunxi's last drama Rebirth For You. But at lunch today, I really have nothing to watch and kinda in rush, so I tried one episode. And voila! What an epic opening π I love the hero song and the old man that sing it. It was so breathtaking and rich! Not to say how the drama start flexing money since the very first episode. When I watched the parade scene, I was like "wasehh, wasehh, qian, qian, ge wo qian π" I love the cinematograph, the story is not boring, except for the magic wuxia action that's always typical in nowadays wuxia world, the drama very much enjoyable. I ended up watching straight 5 episodes since the evening lol π. Wish will continue to live up my first impression π¬π¬π¬
Before I'm 25, I barely dropped any drama. There always things to learn even in the worst one. But recently, I feel like I have enough π. I only want to watch a good one. So, I did really got into quite deep research before decide to watch one. If I wasn't sure about the drama but the actors, the director, or the screenwriter is one on my favor then I'll try one or two episodes. Once my hunch said it didn't worth my time, I'd dropped it right away. Maybe because I was getting old and time became more precious.

Or maybe know but think that the King didn't know and just want to provoke the King
