I hate to remind you the fact that it's half way to the ending π€£ and we need to wait at least another 5 years for S3. Just pray that no World War or Chinese War broke before S3 released π
Or you can watch the special edition that released recently which is 20 over ep and captures the gist of S1 before…
Kind of waste tho! S1 deserves some more time investment. So you could grasp the joy in life with each of its every episode. Afterall, discovering Joy of Life is one joy in life itself π

We often forget that 'Justice' is a product of modern civilisation. It was invented so that the weak could survive and ended up creating this long era of peace. Justice is human invention through thought and history. If we talk by today's standards, no one deserves to die for speaking their mind. Whether it's outrageous or polite. But who we are to decide who deserves to die and to live? Yet again, our society has a different concept of justice compared to their society. In terms of the story, I am amazed by how deeply the writer thinks to create such an understanding of life and write it in a way even a fool like me could understand. I know I'm not smart, but I love the way they created a complicated story without leaving me behind feeling stupid π
I've been watching many kinds of films and dramas from various countries ever since I could remember, but Joy Of Life unexpectedly became the greatest drama I have ever watched. And who would expect it to come from the messy Chinese dramaland. The land full of censorship and limitations where you need to dig deep enough to find one good drama.
I like how JoL full of politic and intrigue, but contains no direct propaganda in it. It's full of Chinese wisdom, history, culture and beliefs, but away from modern political agenda.
if you'd live your life with the personality like fan xian like how he manipulates, his cunningness and everything…
If you can't see the deep of the water just don't jump in. If you unsure with one cunningness but at least recognised the danger, then just be genuine and direct like Wan'er. Living your own life away from their business π
its the good ol' 'be careful what you wish for'. Poor Lai Ming Chengπ"The emperor's thoughts are deep" "The…
I mean what would you expect? He's the king of an absolute monarchy in feudalism dominated society. He must have full control over people, officials, and everything possible. The only reason we can understand FX is because we, the audience and FX share the same understanding of a free country and democracy, where people have voices and a thing we call 'Human Rights'. But the King and most people in JoL have different perspectives on understanding life. As a king, it's his responsibility to have control or else rebellion and chaos will follow. LMC is the best example of 'ahead of his time'. He's a good politician we want to have in this modern-day society, but at his time, he indeed failed to read the room, understanding their ruler, and just a poor principled stubborn man.
"Look into my eyes, I'm telling the truth""I swear upon my royal dignity"These are the first two tactics taught…
I mean that's her character all along, naively direct martial artist. Although the S2 actress make her looks more gullible compared to Ye Ling Er in S1
i am glad that you notice that S2 is darker. It will be the darkest in Season 3. Where lots and lots of death…
Actually, in the book ending FX was living in seclusion with his family, pretend to be dead and even recorded as traitor π€£ while holding the ultimate power of the world. Basically, emperor behind the curtain π
FX and Wan'er give the hyper bf/calm gf vibes and I am loving it!!! Not everybody is meant to be reckless and…
I saw her as one solitary character. She's different from all of the characters in Joy of Life. Like she's her own kind. She's knowledgeable but not scheming. She has no specific objectives before met FX, but also not let herself fall into FX objectives. Kind of breeze of fresh air after surrounded by either super smart schemer (I am genuinely exhausted trying to second guessing their action and intentions in every single episodes πΉ although it's fun!). Yet, she neither fool like Guo Bao Kun, naively direct like Ye Ling Er, Childish but talented like Fan Is Zhe, nor 100% devoted like RuoRuo. She gave her faith in FX but not deaf or denial about him and directly confront him when she has a doubt (like when she suspect him murdered her brother). She could be a schemer as well, but she choose not to. I feel like seeing an audience enjoying people around her playing on the stage with popcorn πΏ on her lap.
The thing people missed about Wan'er's Character is that 'She is a Princess' Wan'er might have grown up adored and sheltered, but she grew up surrounded by great schemers. From her mom, her dad, the princes, the emperor, her granny, and even her seemingly brute late brother is a competent man himself. Maybe because she didn't have many scenes or badass power and played a seemingly Marie Sue kind of character and their love story in the beginning was absurd teenage like π But more than once, she proved that she too can read beyond the surface. With her silence, she accommodates FX to do his business and offers him absolute faith and, a distraction-free environment. She knew she was ill and physically weak. So by not putting herself into unnecessary trouble and living her life as always, she knew how the world works. The 12 Ep proved it even more with what she elaborated to the 2nd prince. Come on! To make those royal schemers genuinely care for one illegitimate daughter of a not-so-loveable old princess needs a skill!!!
I am behind everyone by one episode daily. Kisskh is uploading episodes quickly, but they grab episodes from the…
Yeah, especially when I desperately wants more but my Mandarin is half cooked. At least I can grasp the basic, although not thoroughly and rewatch it the next day with good sub, along the way I could see more details I missed on the first watch
