I came here specifically because of this, I’m on the same episode and I’m like wait who’s love story is…
oookaaay, i just watched a clip on Netflix and it looked like the guy was an officer of court and not the King so when I came here to get more detail I worried he wasn't the main guy after-all because the chemistry looked good. The guy was trying to get the girl to go so some apprenticeship school or something. Not even sure its the main leads in the scene but I liked it. So the king isn't the ML right? He is the SML? Because I think I will watch it if its between that girl and that non-king guy. I was worried it wasn't.
Whoever said this should not have been a BL was correct. The romance was completely unnecessary to the plot on all counts. This was quite a frustrating watch personally. The actors are great but there was something about each of them that really grated and part of it could have been the way the story was told and the directing especially in the first 3-4 episodes. Loved the editor lady though. She was the only one who wasn't annoying nor confusing. But there were plot holes that I just could not suspend believe for and maybe the script or else something was lost in translation. There was something about the set up that just was not believable for the scenario and the love interests and I am not going to go into it for an 8 ep 30min drama.
To be honest I enjoyed the commentary special somewhat more than the actual drama. The two of them seemed to have…
The difference I think between the two was the dead fish kissing in this one so it took me out of the moment. Otherwise I thought the chemistry was good and the story was simple if a little contrived at times. Good acting from all and relationship building in the time given considering the number of actors they had. I don’t think either was spectacular as others. For K-yaoi I think Semantic error is currently superior.
This was very cute, but definitely was lacking something. The chemistry and acting was good but the plot stayed…
Yeah that part was a little disappointing. I didn't like the constant questioning about the alcohol or showing that Han Ji Yu seemed to have a heavy drinking problem at the beginning. However, I liked that by the end, without pointing it out, it looked like both of them were balanced. Han Ji Yu never got very drunk again and didn't seem to excessively drink when eating out with his friends once the two of them got closer. I am unsure if that was part of the story or not but it helped me feel more comfortable about it like it was part of the storyline without being explicit and also had to remind myself its part of K-Culture as well I guess.
Who knows how the mind of a pedophile works? I do not care to think to deeply into his motivations, but regarding…
It is somewhat sloppy writing because this Uea character suffers from the "everyone wants me because I am so cute" trope from yesteryear. I thought we were done with this type of trope but nooooope here it is. Boy can't keep his pheromones in check. lol
A flaw in the plot I wanted to point out is that the stepdad would probably have gone after Uea's sister, especially…
Who knows how the mind of a pedophile works? I do not care to think to deeply into his motivations, but regarding the mother, I have heard of plenty of parents IRL who do not believe their children are being molested by their partners and in some cases even enable it and as she is already an abusive mother, I don't doubt she is capable of reason.
I was waiting to binge watch after it ends but I’m thinking of starting now.. what episode do they start dating…
like ep 2/3 or something. The majority of it seem to be them being FWB. I started last night and on ep 7 so stopping until it finished then will watch all together
Can someone please explain to me the ending? What really happened to the ML? Who was the soldier at the end?
She was hallucinating. The young soldier reminded her of him. But you can see in the scene it wasn't him at all. He passed away, she took on his mantle.
Okay… like they were the best couple ever but the end? Im not satisfied and yes i watched the extra ends……
Ah yes, I had trouble deciding whether I was supposed to hate him or pity him. I think I am leaning more on pity but the drama didn't really go into much intelligent discussion about the pressures of power. I think they tried to make him really evil by him killing all those people but I don't think it landed as it was supposed to because he was always such a pitiful character from the outset and a victim of his circumstances, all because he had an innocent crush on a girl and used by others and then was on a mix of drugs by the end and betrayed by everyone around him. I thought they might get him to go through a redemption arc but it was just tragic.
Just a random thought, I might be wrong but normally we don’t get pregnant before marriage or even pregnancy…
I know it is pretty obvious to some people from the summary what happens but could you use the spoiler tag since they didn't say it out right? The spoiler box exists for a reason for those who can choose whether they want to be spoiled or not. Its just a polite and good manners to consider others in a public forum. Thanks.
I feel like people misunderstand this movie. It's not a romance, it's a coming of age story and it talks about…
Yes these days people think coming of age is synonymous with romance. Such a shame. I like stories like this that take you out of the norm and make you think. I am so glad I watched this as I usually don't do movies and coming of age are usually carbon copies of each other in drama land. I am pleasantly surprised.
I agree. I wish the ending was more on a positive note like she was able to move on but I felt the end undertone was a bit bittersweet on her part. I don't mind bittersweet if I knew she was happy as she had grown and she knows more about life and love now.
This was brilliant! I know China doesn't like to talk about LGBTQ things so the undercurrent was so poignant they…
Also made it vague because they could be banned in China due to that very subject matter. If this was made in the west I would have cottoned on early, but because it was a CDrama/ CMovie I thought it would follow the norm and I was very pleasantly surprised. The part that made me realise they were actually going away from the norm was only when the father said what he said and then that explained their entire relationship. This movie said so much without actually saying it in words and in such a short amount of time. His dad was in like 2 short scenes and that one sentence and the acting just filled in a whole backstory that we didn't even need to see. I am so impressed by the quality of acting and story telling.
Also with the FL story: I thought she only knew about the affair at the beginning but it turns out she knew everything from the very beginning. It is almost like sixth sense and you have to go back and watch it again to really see what is going on and understand the reactions and motivations. So her questioning her mother about her dating her father and them loving each other etc. is because she was trying to manipulate the situation in that extra year she gave herself because she couldn't come to terms with the lies and the change in situation and having to choose the parent to live with for that year. I think in the end scene in the club she looked so much more mature when you look at the whole story from the beginning knowing what she knows and what she did. We may have thought that all her emotions she performed poorly in her exams because of her parents break up, but actually it was a conscious choice. One she made with confidence because she knew she could pass the exam the following year but right now she wanted to be with her family and try to put the pieces back together and support her parents in her own way and come to terms with the changes too. Fair play to her. She learned a lot about relationships and love in that year.
From the moment xyz talked about Ming, I had a feeling that Ming was a guy. So I totally enjoyed this as a friendship…
