Yes he did but he did it to give her closure because he "wishes he could love" her the same way she loves him. Just because he is gay doesn't mean he can't still love her as a friend and kiss her as a friends. Lots of people can kiss people without being in love. A lot of gay men married women and had families with them because they would be shunned in society if they revealed who they truly were. This was such a beautiful story and a beautiful friendship between them as they were both dealing with a lot of teenage feelings and maturing.
omg I didn't notice AT ALL this gives a whole another perspective and makes a lot of sense. the whole time I was…
The characters for he and she are the same pronunciation in Chinese. It is a fact that a lot of writers live to use to cause humour or dramatic misunderstandings. In English we have to translate to one or the other and to not give the plot away they went with the assumed she.
No, brother. it's a woman, lots women can wearing men's hoodies.
The whole reason he had a strained relationship with his father and why his father was certain he wouldn't do anything to the girl was because his father knew his preferences to the opposite sex. It is China so they can't be blatant about that fact or they will get censored. But they didn't need to because it was obvious when the FL also finally realised his preferences which gave her the courage to confess because she had nothing to lose at that point and they could both move on and continue supporting each other.

I thought I was watching a standard coming of age romcom but when the ML dad said with such conviction "He won't do anything to her" that explained so much about his relationship with his son and the realisation from the FL who Li Ming was even if to the audience it wasn't in your face obvious. This gave her the courage to tell him how she felt about him and being able to gracefully accept the rejection because she understood it all. Wow. The way they did that and it was great to fool the censorship on these matters too. It was a beautifully told story.
This was brilliant! I know China doesn't like to talk about LGBTQ things so the undercurrent was so poignant they way they did it and showed it. It is almost like sixth sense and you have to go back and watch it again to really see what is going on and understand the reactions to certain events.
Came here to say its now on Viki. Seeing new viewers of it commenting and all I can say is that it is a product of its time and very typically Chai Ji Dan esq so...yeah. It doesn't hold up to today's standards and they were made independently and on a budget. This also makes it even more a story telling style of its time. The books are better of course even though very typical yaoi tropes and very typical Chai Ji Dan tropes and storylines and motivations make more sense than in this heavily adapted and cut down drama. My mind fills the blanks when watching.
Ameiro may be interpreted as a paradoxical word. Its rugged exterior and soft interior contradict each other.…
I think that is why I liked this. It is short but they hit all those points and questions. Really nice balance if once cares to look deeper into what they were trying to say really quickly but also I thought given the timing they did it very well. I get the impression most people want more romance and less "deeper meaning" to the story or care what they were trying to say. I liked the way the leads played it.
Perth and Chimon's acting is by far the best among the leads!! They saved the episode for me. I love how we're…
I'm not surprised tbh. Perth has always been outstanding as a newbie actor so glad to see him more and more after that whole debacle. Chimon also is a veteran and is good and also back on BL territory. Phuwin and Pond... Pond has potential to grow with the right co-star but I personally feel that Phuwin is still weak and a tad awkward and even after all this time and as main leads, he still feels and looks so green compared to the others.
Random place to ask this as I was just checking some details about the show and reading some comments, but has everyone else had the show detail box move the the right hand side and part way down the page? Does anyone know if there is a way to place it back to the left hand side top?
I am 20 mins in and I already feel like SML is the most interesting and nothing has even happened yet. I hope the FL lead becomes more likeable and less annoying.
ML is handsome. I enjoyed looking at him and his protégé. There were quite a lot of handsome going around. Otherwise this was quite a frustrating watch but did improve in the later parts of the drama so it was not too bad. This reminded me of dramas made over 5 years ago with all the tropes in the book. There were so many inconsistencies at the beginning and I often felt that everyone was just too stupid to live. Supposedly the FL had prophetic dreams but that wasn't made much of and did help her any other that create unnecessary drama. It was not a main part of the plot. One part that REALLY annoyed me was that her most loved mentor told her not to trust a person by name REPEATEDLY and then nothing happens with this the rest of the show through all the misunderstanding with her husband thinking he may be the culprit but the ONE person her beloved and most trusted mentor told her NOT to trust and she has complete amnesia of ever being told this. What a pointless scene because it is never brought up again and she continues to trust this person until the last 3 episodes. Every episode I watching I was thinking... is she gonna remember now? Nope. This point was never come back to and conveniently forgotten.
The last episode felt very anticlimactic. I also hated the show “reversing” the deaths of park Jin, Kim do…
True. I wouldn't have been mad either. This is the one things about Kdramas I don't like and also sometimes appreciate though. They always scratch the surface of real emotional understanding and reflection but never really delve any deeper than that. Great if you just want to keep things light, but only just enough information if you want to think about things more deeply.
Unpopular opinion (my very first review here in kisskh)I've really enjoyed AoS1... and the cliffhanger on…
I fully suspect that by that point they were running out of time and money to do a cool cgi fight scene with the Firebird. I was reminded of the Shang Chi dragon fight scene with the monster things and even though we knew he was gonna win, it was really fun to watch and I love rewatching that scene.
Also I am not surprised that there are similarities between all the dramas you listed because they all would have the same roots - coming from similar and linked versions of myths, legends ad poetry of the epics. The Chinese dramas would have even more similarities with each other because of the ancient philosophical teachings they reference and are based on.

Exactly. I was disappointed that the elders were alive and that the the fight scenes were lacklustre and part of the reason is they made him too powerful so removes any suspense in these places or real risk. I fully expected Naksu to return at the end because it is a Kdrama after all. That's their standard trope the majority of the time. The lovers always end up together one way or another.
Season 2 was more like jang uk and jin bu yeon, like he fell in love with a new person (even though she was naksu)…
It is a new love story in a way which is I thought was necessary and worked well. I think they did that on purpose because of the trauma of losing her, he had to heal and forgive himself for failing to save her and that was part of his growth arc. He was so deep in grief he couldn't recognise her anyway and if he did he wouldn't be able to deal with that pain and resentment and believe that she truly did love him when she killed him which was what he was wondering all the time. Being able to slowly open his heart to someone "new" meant that both of them were able to understand what their love meant and what their feelings and experiences meant to each other and to forgive themselves and each other and move on without the emotional trauma from their past. They are both two very different people since the last season so they had to learn to fall in love again and understand who each other was because neither of them are the same people and neither of them have the same position in this world as they did when they first met that they need to understand for themselves as well. Yes I think had they had time we may have seen a more obvious reaction to the revelations but by that point I think deep down he suspected it for some time as did she but neither of them were hopeful or wanted to admit it could be possible because of how it may have damaged/ altered the new relationship between them. But that is how fate works.
