CP and his pet turtle were everything this episode.

Other than that, doesn't it look like IF Jang Uk gets to be gentle and protective to ANY random girl, she'll eventually love him and he'll eventually fall for her too? If it wasn't Bu-yeon (that he still doesn't recognize) it could've been anyone who was in need of a rescue. I know who she is, but he's still falling for Random Girl Inc. while theoretically still in love with Mu-Deok.

Is there any kind of plot other than the when-will-he-recognize-her part, though? Is there no other mage still around who can chase soul-shifters, but Jang Uk? Did everybody forget how to use their swords, dammit?

You gotta wear black if you want people to think you're tall, dark and sexy, err, dangerous, I mean. He hits all those points. I see no problem with it, LOL.

He's mostly hunting down soul shifters at night, it's camouflage, I guess. So, practical, right?

Who in the actual F would release a critical medical patient on whomever's say-so, when said patient 1. had a…
Not in my country (in the EU), they can't release a critical patient AMA, in those circumstances (as in the drama). Not if they're not stable, not if they're being given an intravenous antibiotics course, not in the first hours after a cardiac event of that magnitude. And definitely not under the signature of someone who isn't even a relative, not even mentioning a medical guardian.

Unless they want to be sued for malpraxis. The only way they can be released is to go to another medical facility where they'll be further treated or at least under the observation of a specialist - or if they're stable indeed, not in any immediate danger of recurrence, and all the i's have been dotted and t's have been crossed, LOL.

JHG isn't Superman... (And I didn't even mention how basically immediately after he's released and arrests the villain, he's going drinking with his buddies, cops AND medical people, while still theoretically being given an intravenous antibiotics course, LOL, because why not. Med regs are more like guidances anyway.)

But after the helicopter hijinks (which still make me angry as a wet cat, LOL), medical hijinks are nothing.

I don't remember the scene of the last battle for the bride's father to be any of the mages's fault ... 🤔 Why…
He got killed by Naksu (MuDeok) while surrounded by the most powerful mages of SongRim, DangGu included. Nobody could fight her off...

So yeah, it's kind of their fault. That was one soul-shifter, they were the top of the SongRim cream, for naught. And he wouldn't have been exposed so that she could kill him if it wasn't for the big wedding stuff, so double whammy for the DanGu/ChoYeon romance. She's a daddy's girl (no wonder, with that mom!) and took it personally.

Now seriously, nobody but the villains remember Naksu's face?!
Her body was frosted over or something, and personality (vitality) does a lot to change one's face. A dead person might not even resemble what they looked like while alive, even to family and friends.

That being said, all the mages KNEW her and came to gawk at her when she died, so that's no excuse.

My bet is that they'll say JBY and Naksu's facial traits somehow mingled, as the energy healed the body, so they're just similar but not the same-looking. That's the only way to pretend it's not the same person, IMHO. We'll see.

I'm thinking back to the original teaser (when S1 ended). That hinted to much darker things than what's come in these two eps. There's still time, but yeah... A darker Uk would've been AWESOME. Not that he's not awesome now :D

I wanted him darker, like desperately darker, with a hint of cruelty and some cemetery humour, too T_T

But I guess a 10 eps series doesn't have the time to present both a falling down and a redemption arc, so they just went with the "he's a (powerful beyond belief) pariah but his personality is still the same goofball with some serious streaks" waiting for a chance to introduce the romance again.

At least there's all the eyecandy, he's definitely a joy to watch. Too bad about the ponytail...

Who in the actual F would release a critical medical patient on whomever's say-so, when said patient 1. had a cardiac arrest hours before, 2. was practically in a coma for hours, too, 3. has open wounds and needs antibiotics?!!!!!

F the norms and regs, let's throw them out the window?!

And for what, just because he NEEDED to be the one who put the cops on the villain? I mean, were there no other policemen to do it?

I'm kind of tired of suspending disbelief on this drama.

Episode 8 gave me the "visitors incoming" vibe LOL. Everything got stashed here and there and everywhere, just out of sight. I know it's about tying up loose knots and filling plot holes and whatever, but it had a pretty rushed feeling and felt like they were ready to close up shop.

For some reason, I might slow down on this one.

You know when I said I'd want some plot with the romance? I decided I don't actually care. Give me the fluff. All of it.

Also, Jang Uk is still the most handsome wizard to ever wizard in all fantasy worlds put together. The tallest, too. I don't know how they managed it, but he's always around petite girls, and it's freaking adorable.

So I went and took the test. No idea how accurate it is. Not an actor, either, LOL. It says Virtuoso (ISTP), basically an introvert (mostly true), mostly down to earth (also mostly true, LOL), a thinker (err...), prospecting individual (says I'm good at adapting and flexible, LOL, yeah right), turbulent (kind of...?).

Well, that was kind of fun. If anyone else wants a try...

Trust the Jinyowon (sp?) to dress up a beautiful girl until she looks like hell warmed over on her wedding day,…
So, Dark Uk is not as dark as I'd hoped, he just got emo/goth. Oh well. It would've been a stretch to get him to do a Darth Vader move in so little time. At least Seo Yul remained his steady heart-broken persona, LOL. He doesn't look so good, I guess the Gu Worm is doing his business, I wonder how come nobody noticed or did anything about it for three years.

The special effects were amazing - those ghouls around Uk were perfect. I missed his banter with the crown prince, too bad the bromance is probably gone - it seemed like Uk is basically punishing CP by rubbing his face in how bad his life is going ATM.

I am not really pleased former master got rebranded as pure comic relief and is now cooking impossible dishes. He was already dense, the joke isn't new any more. Less of it, please.

As far as I can say at this point, this would be the story of how Belle saves the Beast, probably - and Uk is definitely going to help along being killed. Not that it'll happen, presumably, LOL.

That final scene, with the boat arriving - that was straight dead soul meets Grim Reaper material, complete with traversing the river of souls. I liked that.

Basically... I'm keeping fingers crossed there'll be some actual plot and not just amazing scenery, lots of romance and heartbreak, and some soul-shifter killing gore. At least they kept the original OP theme, though I'm so sad Uk's side profile (and most of all the little ponytail!) is/are gone from it...

Can anyone remind me? in the first season, wasn't Naksu's body burned? or am I remembering wrong?
They didn't mean Naksu's body, they meant Bu-Yeon's body. The fact that BY's body ended up being Naksu's and got petrified is waltzed past at this time. And there aren't many eps to deal with the backstory anyway...

I guess at the time when the original Naksu died, her body either 1. ended up petrified and discarded, not actually burned or 2. they swapped it from the get-go, or took it from whoever swapped it later, just to have a look at it. Then preserved it until Naksu died in BY's body, and the twinned soul returned to the original... somehow. I mean, BY does officially have superpowers even compared to every other super mage there.

Where are they filming? Is it still Brunei?

LJG's going to look epic as EunSeom, still, for some reason, I'd love to see him in another police story instead. I really didn't like how Netflix butchered the release of AC 1 (or 1-2-3 according to them) and it was my first unpleasant reaction to the ending of a drama I'd usually love (as in, there-is-no-ending *I'm Neo-vibing here, just so you know*) I am not certain they'll make this a good story and I don't want LJG linked to it if it comes out they are just half-assing it.

On the other hand, I'm glad Kim OkBin remained as TaelHa, nobody could rock those body-chains like her (yeah, still wishing for one of those - and for the figure to go with them, LOL).

And can we please have some more Neanthals appear, please?! Ragaz is gone, but what of it? Let's have another Neanthal bro or uncle join EunSeom, pretty please? Those guys were the best.

Is it me or did they ditch the whole storyboard we were presented with in the ending credits of the last season?... Because it sure looks like it, what with the time gap.

Title Nirvana in Fire Spoiler
I spoiled myself to the novels's ending and it still hit me like a ton of bricks...Brain power is damn sexy, I…
I can't believe it took me two thirds of the drama to recognize Zhang ZheHan as Young Lin Shu. In my defense, his face was always partially hidden by the ashes and armour and whatnot, and when they showed them young, it didn't hit me at first - not until the sword-pointing incident did I recognize him, LOL.

I basically loved everything about the planning, counter-measures, desperate half-plans, winging out a rescue (or more) in no time at all, coming up with EVERYTHING and some extra on top BEFORE even coming to Jinling. I loved how once it all started, nothing could've stopped it, not even the main players deciding to abandon everything. Like a river, as the song goes. (Or a damned hurricane, LOL).

I loved each and every one of the main cast actors - not just Hu Ge, but Wang Kai, Ding YongDai, Huang WeiDe, Tan XiHe, but also everybody else and most of all, Liu MinTao. Her character of Consort Jing drew me in the deepest once the Inner Palace came into play - she immediately grasped all the intricacies, started subtly and unerringly support her son's impossible journey, recognized a dead person's real identity without ONCE coming into contact with him, even when his personality had already taken a 180 degrees turn, took such good care for him still having no direct contact, and then her tears when she did meet him and realised he's doomed already - yes, that's a master actress. And a beautiful one, to boot. I think Consort Jing is my favourite character this past half year and I don't imagine I'll forget her soon.

Little Wu Lei, LOL, he didn't have much to say, and his grumpy character fit his facial expressions a lot, :D I liked Jin Dong's character - Lin Chen - and initially thought he was the comical relief one, always playful and irreverent and chasing down girls and teasing Fei Liu... and then someone had to go say that Lin Chen is most playful when he's stressing about something. Poor Lin Chen, he had to be going out of his mind by the end...

The ending... ah the ending. Still processing. Despite the warning of the novel spoiler, I had still hoped they'd change something, but nope, full-dose of expected ending. Dammit.

The soundtrack is great - there were some tense moments when the BGM made the suspense go higher and higher and higher until things exploded and slowly drifted off. Some confrontations between characters were almost black-and-white-and-music. I loved that, this is my kind of storytelling.

Overall, a 9.5 for me (and I don't rate many as 9.5 already). There were a few tiny things that didn't set well with me, but I'll be reading the novel and try to find a deeper meaning to this all. I hope the drama did it justice, and that the novel is at least as good as the script.

Ah, this was such a good high...

I spoiled myself to the novels's ending and it still hit me like a ton of bricks...

Brain power is damn sexy, I have to say this first, The drama is best when it deals with the strategizing. The tiny drops of the personal hurt/healing process also make immense impact (I think I loved those episodes the best, but they were built on by the ruthlesness of the in-between political wars).

This one will be one on the rewatch list. So glad I finally got to start watching it (because after that first ep, nothing would have stopped me).
