No. AoS is more on the magic side, large flashy moves. The story (especially for the first season) holds on much better than the sword fighting (of which there's not a lot, TBH). If you haven't, watch it though, go look at it, it's great for a LJW drama (and there's a lot more chemistry with his FL in that 1st season, too.)

More gore-type of sword fighting could be found in Kingdom, but there are zombies, so... Also, My Country has a lot of regular swordfighting, but there the melo eventually takes over (recc'ed anyway). Or if you go back enough, even Warrior Baek DongSoo might cut it.

Hopefuly THIS one is a HEA and the watchers keep it civil (I doubt that last part...)

VERY solid first episode. I like that little actor so much, I hope he comes in many other dramas :) All the kids did a great job, their dialogue went exactly as you'd expect kids to talk, even the 2nd son, LOL. They were the cutest.

And now the real story begins.

No, his nickname. He's nicknamed Soul Ripper or something like that. He goes by HongRang, but it's not his actual name.

Her mother died giving birth to her, she was a concubine or a servant (IIRC a servant) of her father. Obviously the wife couldn't accept her because her precious son was everything to her and no other child existed.

HwiSu called the other woman his mother because she adopted and raised him. She never had kids of her own.

Dammit, no time today to watch, but couldn't resist the first scene, and it looks like they compressed the whole of LOTR in it, LOL - I almost expected to hear Gandalf narrating how they dug too deep and too greedily, and then BAM! There's a green Arkenstone and we're basically in Moria but instead of a Balrog suddenly the Dead Men of Dunharrow come to life, blocking all escape routes from the Paths of the Dead.

I liked that first scene. First impression is good. I hope it's backed by the rest of the drama.

He was a giant really-fast moving and really strong albino guy who did what the prince asked of him. Walking out at night (obviously) and snatching kids when he could, or putting them back when the prince wanted to mess with the parents' minds.

The editing in the first ep is all over the place. It gets way better in the 2nd and the rest of the drama.

It's because of the ambiguous relationship. Everybody went crazy in Buried Hearts too when there seemed to be a chance that the romantically-involved leads could be half-siblings, LOL.

It is NOT a HEA. We are not pleased.

Anyway, the slash-gore worked beautifully. But they freaking KILLED INHOE!!!! (I know he probably would've died anyway since he was a canvas too, but STILL. THEY FREAKING KILLED INHOE!!

The love story should've been worked on more, IMHO. I know last words must be said, but nobody, even HwiSu, LOL, has a complete, carefully worded conversation just before they die.

The poor little (actual) HongRang. His mom deserves her agony, too bad her mind's cooked.

Yay, a good drama for Lee JaeWook! Here's hoping for a lot more like AoS and this one and less of the TIH kind, LOL. Also, Kim JaeWook did wonders for the screen time he had. I mean, we all appreciate a mad prince. Still, the dodge-this moment was GREAT!!!!! Sorry KJW LOL.

PS I am totally sorry, but the chemistry wasn't really there between them. LJW CAN have chemistry (he did perfectly with the AoS S1 FL) but here... not really. He and JBA were just going through the romantic gestures at times. Sometimes it did work, but not really when it mattered - that ending really feels a bit flat.

Overall, though, a good watch, a lot better than what I expected.

PPS Just remembered - I HATED the bro, dammit, HE GOT INHOE KILLED!@$!@@$!#!~~ He should've suffered more. Like, a whole lot more. *sigh* Poor InHoe.

IMHO, that doctor was a lying quack who lied.

Also, this deserves a better rating than the current one.

Other than that, I still like the story quite a lot. Sadly he's not THE one, so there go all my initial theories. I don't care, I'm invested now. I hope there's a HEA.

That Hindi-sounding song is pretty good. I hope they released it already or will, soon.

On ep3 - you know what... I kind of like this. A lot. I won't be reading comments so I don't get too many spoilers. But so far, so good.

What in freaking hell is going on in that town?! There are slavery rings that have been going on for at least 12 years or more, if not just the one, kids are presumably disappearing left and right for the slavers to have something to do, too, aside those taken by an albino Gigantopithecus and given to - ha! - the painter who happens to be a prince. A mad one too. With a dark room in which to keep his victims closed in - for painting them?!

Anyway, the (real/not real) Hongrang came to do some vigilante things and clean up messes. By now, if he's not the real one, he probably met the real one in the past and learned some info on the family. Or maybe it is InHoe after all, LOL.

The adopted bro is still being creepy.

2nd ep's editing is much better. Also, some plotlines are now becoming apparent from all the whacky puzzle of the first ep.

JaeYi is the first woman who can actually put on male clothing and pass that I've ever seen in a historical drama. Cho BangSuk should sell his remedy for eyesight too - having seen her from a distance, in the dark, from a shadowed half-profile, he recognised on a single glace a passing half-hidden woman in full daylight. I want some of those carrots, pass the plate.

I guess we'll be watching this after all. Hopefully it's a HEA.

Also pieces are completely missing, too, LOL - she saw his face, presumably asked why it's swollen (I don't know enough to tell if she said that) then added "Did my father [do it]" which never got TLed at all. Oh well. I hope at least the core of it remains true to the words spoken.
