I liked the premise and the first eps were very good. But then the NIS plotline fizzled, she became interested in him way before knowing he wasn't an underaged student and that (I'm not sorry to say it) is a very big icky factor to me, the chairwoman's plotline is becoming unhinged - what, she's always been crazy but now it's crazy all over and nobody bats an eye?! and I don't like the romance (that's on me, I didn't start watching it for the romcom and obviously that is not the same for everyone else).

So if more people are like me, no wonder it stays at the same level (the ratings didn't drop, it just stopped growing.) They were rising while things were interesting (and SKJ was pretty interesting to look at too LOL), but I guess people who came in for the action - like me - aren't romcom fans, and the romcom fans didn't get into it because there was action or something, IDK.

There's still time for the ratings to rise, though, but for me it's on the backburner and I don't really feel motivated to watch it as soon as it airs.

MDL ratings take into account episode ratings, and there are a few dedicated people who are rating them very low and have since it's beginning. I've gone through a few profiles and it's kind of obvious there's a ratings battle between this one and another still airing drama.

BUT since MDL isn't taking any measures and after all, if they want to go all battle on it, let them - the most important thing is if you're enjoying it, with all its best and worse parts.

If you want to compensate or redress the ratings a bit, you can rate the individual eps on Episode Guide, where you need to click on the Review and rate it (you don't need to actually write a review if you don't want to), and only then it'll register. Or you can leave it as it - again, in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter LOL, the series seems to be at least decently successful in SK and that's all that will matter to the production team and the cast.

By ep9 it's clear he came in DaeSan with a plot and EunNam happened later (took him by surprise and diverted parts of his plan).

Everything happening after the marriage is plan correction, plan correction again, plan change, okay full-time revenge LOL. If in the beginning he wanted to take over or somehow destroy it, now it's all SDJ against the world (or most of it anyway.)

I told you, this is the best makjang thriller ever :D (way better than anything Si Jin had in store, allowing for the difference in genres, obviously). Enjoy the ride, it's going to be wild :D

This was the simplest tropey love story (and filmed vertically, which is not something I enjoy usually), but there's all the charm in the world in it. The MLs are both cute beyond words, the story is flawless (even if simple, it doesn't need twists and turns to be good), a surprisingly good production overall.

Thanks to whoever reviewed last here, because if I hadn't seen that review, I wouldn't have tried it LOL. But it was very good :D

(If anyone knows the rest of the cast, please add them here, they were ALL very good, which was double surprising LOL. I seriously never expected it).

Well... IF. Who knows, makjang allows for the universe to turn itself from the inside out in the interest of making the story more twisty, LOL.

On the other hand, quoting great philosopher Yondu Udonta, "he [HID] might have been her father, bur he wasn't her daddy". I think her revenge is still warranted, because Yeo SunHo was her daddy, if she ever takes revenge (she seems a bit stuck).

No, I think she did it because the husband might have intended to divorce her and cause a whole scandal. There's never any love lost in a chaebol marriage, in dramas, anyway. She was having an affair with Il-Do (I think EunNam is his bio daughter, though she got DeokHui's husband's name), so maybe the husband had proof of an affair.

It was twenty years ago, a bastard child would have completely cut off CDH's chances to ever be in the inheritance list in any important manner. So she had to get rid of the husband, married her AP because she probably actually loved him at least at that time, and then had another child by him - TaeYun who was until now the only boy in the grandkids generation so he had a very strong chance to inherit the business (because the older son is a doctor and isn't any good with business, Il-Do is not blood even if he is a businessman, and TaeYun seemed like the only logical option).

At least until SeongWoo appeared out of the blue, and he's still young enough he has time to choose to go into business, thus cutting off DeokHui's branch again. That's the reason she's so waspish with him.

No, it was a hypothesis in the beginning, when he first (second?! LOL) lost his memory and could only remember his childhood name, and Sec. Gong was having a strong reaction to finding that out. It turns out she and DeokHui thought the child should have died, which means maybe she helped CDH arrange the accident where SDJ's mom died.

Because if 1. he's missing it's one thing, but then 2. they start digging up why is he missing (because that info sells). And if he has dementia that means the conglomerate top level is in flux, which means the shares aren't stable and could trigger a sell-off. Which in turn will bring the value of a share down and maybe bring on more losses until the whole conglomerate is at stake.

It doesn't have to be because of an illness, any kind of scandal will do the same to the shares. Just look what's happening with TSLA right now because it's most important stockholder happens to be a nazi.

Wait, wait you forgot the pregnant pause (ha!) after calling his name in a lachrymose tone :D

He's Chu SeongHyeon - the only name SDJ remembered when he was amnesic - his childhood name. DeokHui and Secretary Gong both thought he must've died. His family name is Chu, like the woman in the club picture. And he appears in the other old picture... where EunNam's father is holding him in his arms :D

Gonna play drama psychologist here - most cops are driven by their sense of right or wrong (at least in dramas, they are). It's not just "okay, this happened, let's just get on with our lives", it's "this is UNFAIR and WHY did it happen to me? WHO did this to me?" So if they're all (or most of them) driven by that need for things to be right and for injustice to be redressed, then they simply just cannot let go of it, because it'll torture them for the rest of their lives.

There's actually one of them who does just that - finds something else to do and does that, and he STILL gets involved involuntarily, and branded a killer and remembered as that as a fall guy for the actual killer who is also related to the cases of his friends.

So it's more complicated than "this is life, we should just forget about it and survive any way we can". They obviously can not let go and survive any which way, so they just build their lives around redemption - or if that's not possible, then revenge.

ZhiBai sees that pretty clearly, that's why he never returns to his remaining family and lover. His new life cannot alow him to. And when Ti Yi's mom dies, he basically cut off the last remaining line back into his old life, because (in his words) there was no way SiYuan would ever forgive him for that...

I think they'll reveal later on she did it to save SDJ's life. They still didn't show who called her that evening (the call she took while SDJ was busy eating cinnamon bread for the first time LOL), when she was stressing "they" would have to keep their word. I don't think that was just about the shares.

I can just see it - they threatened to get her lover killed, unless...

That still doesn't excuse all the other stupid decisions, LOL - like leaving the blue phone in the middle of the room so anyone could get their hands on it, and so on, and so forth, PARTICULARLY if she was aware his life is under threat.

If he was Yeo SunHo's son, and DeokHui was having an affair with HID, then maybe YSH found out, got a good reason to divorce and cause a scandal, which in turn would make DeokHui unable to later on marry HID.

And HID is Yeom's way into DaeSan. Twenty or so years back he might not have been as powerful as he is now, and he wanted all that money - and power - and YSH was in his way (so removing the affair kids to help CDH and HID's marriage, then getting rid of the pesky husband - it's not clear in which order they god rid of them anyway, yet.)

That is, obviously, if what they seem to imply turns out to be true and not yet another feint.

Yeah, I explained my train of thought about this in the other comment, under the spoiler.

They're not going to be officially siblings BUT CEN is very probably going to turn out to be DeokHui's affair daughter that happened to be recognised by Yeo SunHo, DeokHui's husband, whom she thought of as her father. SDJ is very probably going to turn out to be the actual biological son of Yeo SunHo and his mistress', so in a totally makjang drama way, they would be "legal" siblings (or would've been if SDJ got recognised as a son.)

The question now though is how and why is Yeom implicated in Yeo SunHo's death ('cause the kid had been around the Yeom family when SDJ was very young, which means they were close to the father - his mother was a club entertainer and would probably have had no way to enter the family environment... unless SHE herself was someone from that world, or as a servant. The old pic of Madam Yeom and the kid doesn't look like he would've been the child of a servant though.)

PS TaeYun is so young though, I think he's legitimate anyway, isn't he?

Okay let's draw this picture. Yeo SunHo (Cha Deokhui's dead husband) is the one holding SeongHyeon in his arms in that pic. CHS didn't have a registered father, since he had his mom's surname until they bought off the Seo name.

So Yeo SunHo is his father (this is dramaland, I don't make the rules). Cha DeokHui found out, got rid of the mistress and kids (without realising they both survived) while at the same time having her own affair - wanna BET that EunNam is actually HID's biological daughter? :D Because I'm pretty sure I'd win that bet.

So SDJ is basically unrelated to anyone in the Cha family, CEN is a bio but bastard daughter of the clan LOL (that is still legally claimed by Yeo SunHo), thus they (SDJ and CEN) can have a sexual relationship (and did) without causing all the SK society to go up in flames over a drama, LOL.

It also explains how HID is so freaking obsessed with SDJ - from that picture only, he looks a lot like YSH, maybe HID's obsession is over YSH and not SDJ in the end. He looked at him with those doe eyes (the same as he does in the old picture), was there something from his part at least aimed at YSH?!! Because it sure looks like it.

So now we have SDJ's motivation - his mother killed off by CDH, his father, the same (and LOL, CEN's revenge is HIS revenge all things considered :D)

PS It totally slipped my mind TaeYun is HID's son, for some reason I thought he was the useless daughter's son. I LOVED it that HID rethought his murderous ways because his son knew he didn't call the ambulance and tied those threads into discovering his father maybe wants to get rid of SDJ... TaeYun is a good kid.

...And so is SeonWoo. By the third right-turn he probably realised the old man doesn't remember or is having too much fun with it, but kept taking right turns. He has a good heart. It completely hurt hearing Chairman Cha calling him inside because he's his son... *sigh* Seriously, TaeYun and SeonWoo should be best bros forever, I don't care who inherits the conglomerate.

...And dammit, I feel a bit of pity for Huicheol slipping in. Is EunNam folding and maybe accepting she should stay with him?! (I say YES, make place for Dr. Kang in SDJ's life :D)
