Man the first time I watched this I really didn’t like the brother couple, I think a lot of ppl didn’t for obvious reasons. But tbh now I’m watching it again… there’s a lot going on with those two that can’t be sort of packaged up neatly and looked down upon. Yes Jie is definitely pretty messed up if your judging him from a relatively normal point of view, but it’s pretty easy to see that this guy has a personality disorder, he’s obsessive, single minded and rarely cares about the fucked up situations he causes as long as he gets the results he wants. Like I still don’t really like him, but tbh his story is pretty interesting. I know everyone loves Teng Teng and Li Cheng and sure I do too, they’re cute, but they are also just your standard bl trope couple, there’s nothing really happening with them except misunderstandings. And I’m kind of enjoying watching the family drama this time around, because this kind of shit does happen, step siblings do fall for each other out there in the world because all kinds of weird shit happens and just because you think it’s wrong doesn’t mean it actually is you know, so it’s really interesting seeing the way they treat this as a real issue rather than a trope where we never get to see the impact that two brothers fucking has on their actual family….
I just finished the first episode on Viki but noticed that on Viki it is only 60 episodes and on Netflix it is…
The subs are pretty bad on Netflix, I tried watching it there as well because the 63 ep version is apparently the better cut, or so I’ve heard. But I just couldn’t handle the subs… plot wise I don’t think it actually matters, the extra 3 episode just has more scenes that were cut out of the shorter version but aren’t necessary
I won’t touch this then lol. Are you going to watch or have watched The Blue Whisper? Would love to know your…
Ooh I haven’t watched that one yet sorry, I have it on my list it does look good but I don’t know if it is good XD if you do end up watching it let me know what you think ^^
Like why’ Zi Fen so fucking weak?? Isn’t she a deity?? Why’s everyone pushing her around like a lil bitch?? I literally haven’t seen her try to defend herself once… what’s the use of being a wallflower? I’m disappointed with her character man, I thought she would be you know noble and strong and beautiful, but so far she’s just beautiful… I mean how is that a personality??
I just started this, apparently a lot of time is given to other couples and background info, I’m hoping this is true. I get bored pretty easily watching just one couple and I find that second lead couple are usually more interesting…
Man just once I’d like to see a wedding that isn’t interrupted halfway through in a xianxia drama….
Anyway this drama was ok. It got pretty good in the middle, but then it proceeded to become increasingly repetitive >,< there’s only so many times I can watch ppl standing around accusing each other of crimes and gaining the upper hand before it starts to feel banal you know? This drama had so many scenes like this it really became a bit of a joke…
There were some great moments in this still. Yue Mi was one of the best characters. The only one who’s love you could get behind all the way. The scene at the end when Tian Qi finds the wine in her garden was the only scene in this whole drama that made me get teary man. It was great.
The ending though…. I wouldn’t call that a happy ending tbh. Unless abandoning your son to sit in the snow for 500 years can be called happy… i found that part to be really kinda gross so when Bai Jue does come back the effect is completely lost man.
I would probably recommend this drama, but only to certain people. It’s not great but it is good and has a few great moments that are worth the wait.
I’m on the ep. 9 and I really try to,like this drama, especially because of the charming female lead, ( it’s…
I just replied to someone else about this as well, I’m watching this atm, I’m on ep 24 and your on the part that really got to me as well. It gets very boring and pointless from about ep7 to ep13 or so I almost dropped it as well. But it has such good reviews I thought there must be something here XD it does get much better once you get past the first part in the god realm. I’m actually enjoying the plot now and the main couple also. I really didn’t like Bai Jue at the start. Anyway you could literally just watch from ep15 onwards, you won’t miss much and that’s when it starts to get better
I'm already at ep 7 and feel like dropping this. The fl is not very likeable in my eyes and I just feel bored…
The first 15 ep are like the set up, if you can manage to get to ep 20 you’ll know what the actual plot is about. I’m on 24 now and tbh I was getting real annoyed with a lot of this drama at the start, but now it’s pretty good, I’m glad I stuck it out XD.
I really didn’t like the main couple at the start, Bai Jue in particular was boring, but his character kinda changes and I really like him much better later on.
Can someone just tell me please wether Wu Huan gets screwed over at the end of this drama? I really just don’t want her to be redeemed or something like that, if I don’t get the satisfaction of seeing her get exposed for all the fucked up shit she’s done…. i don’t wanna have to deal with that.
The first 16 eps were just introduction. The eps after that are the main story, you will get to know who are the…
I’m probably not gunna drop it even if it keeps annoying me XD I have a need to finish stuff. But tbh I’m not loving the whole set up with Shang Gu and Bai Jue being reincarnated or whatever into the new characters and the other princess that’s in love with Bai Jue… I had to deal with the pathetic goddes of snow and her schemes I feel like that princess will be even worse >,< I’m not a huge fan of that side of romance dramas XD but if the plot is strong I’ll deal with it
The passage of time in this show is weird tbh. It’s hard to tell how much time is passing unless someone suddenly mentions it’s been 1000 years since the last episode, but even then it’s mentioned in passing and sort of ambiguously so I have no idea exactly how much time has passed. Apart from that it’s ok? I’m only at ep 9 and apparently it gets better around 15 which I really hope is true because at this point the lack of an overarching plot that’s actually interesting is really hurting the chances that I’ll watch this to the end…
Ok so I see now why ppl say it gets good around 15. And it did, for a few episodes. Then it switches to a completely different setting and introduces about 30 new characters in about 10 min by name only like I’m meant to know who the fuck these people are talking about right now and even worse I’m meant to care? They spend like 5 episodes setting up the first set of characters so they know that it’s important… I just don’t understand, I assume that list of random but apparently important ppl in the immortal real will eventually actually be introduced… this matters little to me now as I’m forced to watch characters I don’t know talking about other characters I don’t know…
I don't think for this show a tragic ending will be good. It has been funny, light hearted then gets serious and…
I kind of really like the difference in tone in this drama now compared to the beginning. It also doesn’t feel forced you know? The story has moved forward and the tragic twist that’s happening in the last few episodes really fits into the progression of the plot for me. I love that it’s written so well that the audience actually can’t tell wether the end will be happy or sad. It’s not predictable at all which is the best part of it.
I get your pain here, but do you really want to be given an ending that isn’t really the ending? If the writers…
Yeah I saw that XD if it is a happy ending that’s great, I want them to be happy. It’s just been such a well made drama I just want them to stick to what they had planned XD
I get your pain here, but do you really want to be given an ending that isn’t really the ending? If the writers…
XD well I hope they make one then, but I’ll stick to the original ending, actually if it’s sad I might read the novel if that has a happy ending then I’m good for both
I get your pain here, but do you really want to be given an ending that isn’t really the ending? If the writers and director chose to end it tragically and if that tragic ending completes this story as well as it’s been told, I don’t think I would want some random alternative ending just to make myself feel better.
I don’t know 🤷♀️
Honestly I prefer a tragic ending told well to a happy ending being forced in just to make the audience happy >,<
My guess of what will happen: DFQC will exchange his body with Orchid and then he will stab himself with this…
I doubt it… wouldn’t she be stuck in his body then? I mean what happens then? She has to see his face in the mirror every day… that would be torture man XD I feel like he might try to do it but he won’t get to? Or he will tell CH and get him to save her…
It was honestly just so so at the start. Even a little boring at times tbh. But at some point it’s like the writers just realised that they’re better than that. I mean the character growth for orchid alone is spectacular. It’s done gradually and told well through actual experience that we see her go through, there’s no ambiguity about how she’s suddenly so much more level headed and understanding of her own position. Just fucking perfect.
There’s no plateau after DFQC and Orchid become official, a lot of dramas suffer from this it’s why they keep the leads apart so long. The second they get together it becomes almost boring to watch them profess their love at each other over and over. Yet here instead of doing that we get these two actually learning to respect and understand each other and while they are using the whole suffering for love angle it doesn’t feel or come of as banal. It works for the plot.
Last thing, gotta give it to Dylan Wang, his acting in this… well it becomes phenomenal. But mostly because at the start the script doesn’t give him much to work with. When it finally does he really shines.
Shit what happened to the last few episodes of this drama? I mean up to like ep52 the story isn’t great but like it’s understandable, things happen in a pretty clear way but after 52 everything goes to shit… I have literally no idea what happened at the end…
Also it’s never made clear why LMX is so desperate to kill LCL and LZY? I mean at first I get it, he wants revenge so he’s willing to do anything including murder and dark arts. But at some point it gets weird… I don’t know if I’m meant to just think that he’s going off the rails and actually believes he’s doing the right thing, or if he knows he’s evil at this point and doesn’t give a fuck??? Like I have no idea what his motivations are at the end. At one point it seems like he just wants someone to blame for the murders so he can still be admired? Or he thinks that killing LCL and LZY will make him a deity again?? It’s like all over the place…
Anyway, this was like good at the start, then fun in the middle, then just boring after like ep35… best parts were when LCL knew about LZY but they’re both pretending, those were the good times. The second they actually become a couple the whole drama turns into a boring mess full of filler and repetitive couple scenes that become banal pretty quickly…
