This show is so fucking random. I guess this is just Copy a bankoks style. They don’t make a lot of shows that actually have plots.

I’m only up to ep 5 so maybe it gets better?

But like it’s basically 2 episodes per couple, that’s two whole hours man. That’s a movie. There’s no excuse for not making something that has a plot beyond ‘two cute boys meet and like each other’. They can’t even manage to make that interesting. The stories are so predictably boring ><

Look I don’t hate this, I’m watching it and like 50% of the time I’m not bored while I’m watching it, though I find myself skipping through a lot of the ‘extended eye contact’ scenes and others. Most of the couples have little chemistry except Sun and Nuea and those two had great chemistry in why r u up to the point of being my fave couple from it. They were more interesting to watch than Fighter and Tutor that’s certain XD

Anyway, this drama isn’t bad, it’s well produced, the sets are nice the editing is done surprisingly well and it’s not trying to be anything more than a cute show about guys falling in love with each other. This saves it tbh, if it had bad production values and the actors weren’t so good looking I doubt it would be as popular as it is.

The second episode of this is too fucking weird man >< I mean he’s a fucking cat it’s not even implied that he’s turning human he’s just a cat like wtf

Sometimes I feel like Thai directors just think BL fans wanna see cute guys being feely touchy and don’t actually give a fuck about plot.

Only good thing in this that stood out to me was Copters’ acting in ep 6, he was surprisingly good tbh, he actually made me laugh and like Thai drama humour does not do it for me ever, it’s just cringe and painful, but yeh in Gen Y I really didn’t think he had talent but the script for Gen y was pretty bad. And I mean he played the same character in 2moons so same same

I honestly liked that there were no kissing scenes, because if you've watched the show you'd know it doesn't really…
Yeah XD sorry if I sounded like I meant that I wanted more kissing scenes. I really didn’t, I think the drama is perfect the way it is and isn’t missing anything. Eiji and Keitas chemistry is great and their acting conveys those feelings effortlessly to the audience without having to throw in fan service or kissing scenes. This is one of my fave BLs and one of the reasons is that I was completely captivated by every single episode and by the way Adachi slowly learns about Kurosawa and himself, just, it was done so well…

Anyway XD before I start ranting, I completely agree with you. In my first comment I was just trying to convey how great this show really is because I never even noticed that it had no kissing scenes, and that they were completely unnecessary because it’s perfect just the way it is.

Many of your comments I agree with. Certainly LBC2 was terrible and I also found Manner of Death dreadfully boring.…
I actually agree with you that he fits the role perfectly, his looks and general demeanour just work for it.

XD I’m glad you understand that people just have different opinions about this kind of topic >< like 90% of the time people just try to prove me wrong when I’m talking about not liking something and the reasons why, or they try to convince me to change my opinion.

My favourite actor, talent wise, in this show is actually Tenon XD and I feel like heaps of ppl would disagree with me on that. But to me he just pulls off Banks innocent and slightly dumb personality really well. He has a lot of awkward embarrassing scenes in this, but he seems to just throw himself into them and it really makes watching those scenes less cringe inducing if you know what I mean, because he makes it seem rather effortless XD and you can tell he’s having fun doing it which tends to infect the audience in a good way.

This show is like… if I filmed me and my friends hanging out in high school it would be the exact same plot.

It’s just a bunch of friends hanging out and some of them happen to like some others. Then they just hang, eat, drink, class and repeat. XD I mean look I don’t hate it, it’s a little basic for a drama there’s no actual story. Except yeh Bomb likes Jin. You can make a drama based on nothing but a relationship sure, but it usually has more elements than this one does. The only thing about this that’s interesting is Jins reaction to Bomb telling him directly that he likes him. He doesn’t act weird about it and he doesn’t act weird about Bomb staying in his room he definitely never mentions a fear of being ‘attacked’ by Bomb which you see in bl a lot (even though I have to admit Bombs character has a rapey vibe about him with all that watching Jin sleep shit) Anyway that’s probably the only thing that’s done well in this show. And like their actual relationship is not really good, they just seem to be hyper jealous right from the start, I mean Jin gets fucking worried every time he sees Bomb get the most platonic random txts on his phone like ‘thank you’… it’s fucking weird tbh.

Lucky that Noh is so good looking, he’s carrying the whole show on that face and body.

Many of your comments I agree with. Certainly LBC2 was terrible and I also found Manner of Death dreadfully boring.…
I have been meaning to watch Advance Bravely, it looks great and tbh I don’t care if the actual romance is glossed over or censored. Of course I prefer a straight forward same sex plot, but it doesn’t need to be. I’ve actually read the Advance Bravely novel and it was great I just have t gotten around to the drama yet XD

And Boat is very good looking, I agree on that note XD. I also like that he doesn’t have the usual BL look, as in he’s not pretty or cute. And pretty and cute is perfectly fine, it’s just nice to see something different there’s a lot of different looks out in the world XD

Now his acting though >< I’m sorry, it just doesn’t do it for me. He’s very stiff and awkward. Which works for his character, but it also shows through his performance. I do think in a few years if he keeps acting he’ll be much better.

And, look I don’t despise this drama XD I did say it was cute and mildly entertaining. It’s watchable. Unlike LBC2 and Manner of Death both of which I dropped around ep 4-5 because I was bored to death.

Mostly, I’m just angry, disappointed and depressed about the quality of 85% of Thai BL recently. There’s a few great shows that aired recently as well as not so recently, which is why it’s so frustrating to see them falling back into the same stories, tropes and characters for pretty much every new one coming out. They seem to spend half the whole budget on making an absolutely amazing trailer, that looks interesting, captivating and sexy, yet the actual result seems to always be a let down.

Anyway XD sorry about the long ass reply, but thanks for allowing me to vent my frustration.

Man The Cringe and The Second Hand Embarrassment is strong with this one.

Look this drama is ok. It’s kinda cute and mildly entertaining. But it’s so tropey man >< it’s painful.

It’s just disappointing tbh. Thailand knows how to make Great BLs, we’ve seen it enough times even GMM has managed to make some great ones (though they are few) yet they always default back to this genre.

It’s literally always the same show. Even when they attempt a different story like they did in this, they don’t actually change anything else. And even with the different premise here they fucking degenerate back to ‘college BL’

It’s starting to fucking suck tbh. Anything that looks like it might be good end up being cancelled or in development hell. Then when something makes it through finally we end up with shit like Love By Chance 2 ><

I wish Taiwan pumped out as many BLs as Thailand does. Every one they make is seriously a million times better, even when it’s stuff like HIStory 4 (and honestly I didn’t even like that one much but it’s still so much better than Golden Blood there’s no comparison).

Even Manner of Death ended up being a let down. I had so much hope for it man. I really did. And that show had everything needed to make something great. And it was fucking boring! So fucking boring. The plot was boring, I didn’t give a fuck about any of the characters and somehow it felt like Max and Tul got worse at acting… omfg don’t get me started on the acting, I’m so fucking sick of good looking guys being cast in these shows who can’t act to save their life. Like fuck there’s plenty of good looking who can act aren’t there??? Seriously fucking cast ugly guys for all I care at this point, Guns acting in this is painful man, how do you get this much worse at acting? Did I just not notice in LBC? Was he always this bad? My eyes hurt like all fuck from constantly rolling back into my fucking head from watching this.

Ugh, look don’t fight me please ok? I’m just like in a seriously shitty mood about this. It’s making me depressed tbh.

Is this a good ending ?
It’s one of those last 2 minutes of the last episode happy ending, if your idea of a happy ending is romance.

I liked the other relationships in this drama much better, as in the people around Ha Seon that slowly start to trust him as king. They have so much more depth than the romance did, it’s worth watching just to see that tbh.

Title The Shipper
This show was the biggest disappointment in the whole Thai Bl Dramas industry for me.

For the first time we have a female character, who’s personality isn’t non existent, and she’s not a scheming over acted villain, she’s not the girl getting in the way of true love between two boys, she actually has some depth to her character.

And then, they just fuck it all by turning her into the girl that is actually in love with Way, and by doing so basically imply that girls who enjoy BL and ship guys together, that deep down they’re really just in love with the guy themselves.

Everyone complained that Kim being dead is what ruined this show, and I seriously can’t believe that Ive seen exactly zero people complain about this aspect. In the end it fucking turns out that both Pan and Soda are really just into BL because they’re nerdy girl who think guys don’t like them so they ship them with each other as fantasy fullfilment ><

I mean am I really the only one that’s pissed of beyond belief about this?

Girls who love BL get enough shit as it is. We can’t enjoy something we love because there’s toxic fans out there who take shipping to far and if we’re not part of the LGBTQ community we’re told that we’re just appropriating gay culture, and now any idiot who watches this show will also be telling us that we just wanna fuck our ships.

I really wish bl dramas would stop attempting to give fan service like this by having female characters in bl that fans can identify with. We don’t need it. I don’t need to fucking day dream that I’m inside a fucking bl, I just want to watch a good, well written, acted and directed drama that happens to be about same sex relationships for fucks sake.

This drama is like… it’s a lot man. I’m literally 30 minutes into the first episode and like a million things have happened. The princess died, but first scars her sister, in modern times the little sister is left in the back of some random ass truck, but it’s never explained why she was asleep in the back of some random guys truck just parked in the middle of the city. Then she’s grown up and in New York and The MLS cousin is going on about the family business and marital affairs and fucking throws the ML into the ocean.

Like 30 minutes man ><

Tbh I don’t watch older k dramas, because all the plots tend to be like this. It’s literally a soap opera on fucking crack and eight balls ><

But, I like Yoo Chun and since he’s actually a druggie I can only see him in old dramas. Ugh, why’d he have to develop a habit… like, I get it, I’ve been there, but I live in a country where buying drugs doesn’t come with a heavy ass criminal charge…

Also the support actors are terrible. Like I know that they can all probably act, but it’s like the director kept yelling at them to overact every line of dialogue and every reaction to death.

I see a lot of comments calling this show wholesome and fluffy and cute etc. and sure it definitely is, but only comparatively to the usual standards of BL. It is of course a perfect show, and an example that Bl definitely doesn’t need the abusive, obsessive and controlling elements that we see in it so much. But you know what stands out to me the most in this show? With every other bl I watch I feel that anticipation of finally getting to the ‘cute boys making out’ scene, which is fine, obviously there’s a sexual element to bl that’s there for a purpose. The people who watch it do so mostly because we have a thing for watching guys make out with each other. I’m not saying everyone does, I definitely do and I know that about 80% of the people I know who watch bl do as well. So imagine my surprise when I read a comment about this show that mentions that the main couples never actually make out in it. I’d already seen the whole show at this point, so why can’t I remember that there’s no kissing scenes? Plus it’s one of my favourite bls, but usually I prefer stuff that has lots of erotic scenes. Like HIStory or TharnType… etc. And somehow I managed to watch all 12 episodes and not only did I not care that there were no kiss scenes, I didn’t even notice, which isn’t exactly easy to achieve. Maybe it was just me? Maybe lots of other people really noticed and wanted to see those scenes, but you know, media is subjective in a lot of ways. But, for me this show really hit it hard that it’s not always about cute boys making out, sure it’s nice, but after watching this I realise that if the thing is done right and if it’s this good nothing is necessary.

Title Why R U?
This is the first bl live action drama I ever watched. Obviously I was into bl mangas/manhwa and novels + whatever shitty anime adaptions there were. And while searching through dailymotion for something related to bl that I can’t remember, this show came up. And it had a shitty edit of Saint and Zee and the scenes they’d had so far. The good ones. About 20 minutes later I was watching the episodes and a few days later I’d already seen TharnType, Sotus and until we meet again. And for about a month I barely did anything but watch any live action BLs I could find.

So, while this show did do great things for me, in itself, it really doesn’t quite understand itself.

It’s full of plot contrivance bad characterisation and terrible editing. Even before the 19 lockdown, the show was a mess. The two main couples felt like they weren’t in the same show at all. And the side couples were given so little screen time I barely remembered who they were. I never understood why ppl said that Zee was good in this, because to me his acting is awkward, it’s one of the reasons I never really enjoyed the show. Only Saint and Tommy displayed any acting abilities while their partners were mediocre at best. And worse most of the time. The whole Zon is stuck in a bl novel plot was abandoned so randomly and then made a comeback just as randomly it was obvious the writers were unaware how hard it would be to keep this up while also writing a bl drama that made sense. Actually 「A man who defies the world of bl」managed this much better by having a clear setting. The story actually takes place inside a bl manga, while Why R U never clarified it’s setting at all, is it really inside a bl novel? If it isn’t why did we get couples from other known novels within the storyline? It avoids this issue heavily, and only gives very vague answers. This is what I think caused the biggest problems in the show. Zon and Fah’s relationship was portrayed, at first, to be a cause of him becoming trapped in a bl, while Tutor and Fighter are never even implied to be in the same world. Then the whole thing is abandoned later and explained away as Zon being paranoid, but it really isn’t…

Anyway, WHYRU will definitely always mean something to me, but mostly as a gateway to other, better dramas…

I dont mind if you don't like the drama but you got a lot of wrong concept here. The one who shoot her friend…
Why do you feel the need to explain the plot to me? Sorry I’m not trying to be an asshole, but it’s just ridiculous of you to assume first of all that I didn’t like the drama just because I’m comfortable enjoying something but also criticising it’s bad point, and secondly assuming that what? Only people who have experienced the same situation can enjoy this?

I’m from Croatia, you can look up what happened there online. If you do, I’ll assume you’ll start thinking I should watch dramas that have civil war and ethnic cleansing as their main plots? Ugh I’m sorry, I realise I’m being annasshole, I just get annoyed with people like you who can’t seem to understand that there’s nothing wrong with criticism, and just because someone does it doesn’t automatically mean they hate whatever they are criticising.

This show had problems in my opinion. And none of it was because of the reincarnation or the colonisation. It was because those two aspects of the drama were hardly explored at all, I assume you didn’t actually read my whole comment, or you didn’t understand me. Those parts were the parts I enjoyed the most, along with the relationship between the two MLs, and I’d hope for both their lives/deaths to have been explored more, but they weren’t.

Again, I liked this show, please try to understand that criticism doesn’t automatically equal hate. Also I hope you realise that you come across as patronising when you attempt to explain something that’s obvious.

What kind of an idiot doesn’t have main characters in the first few episodes of any show? This is probably the worst thing I’ve ever seen tbh. Imagine how many people started this show just to see Yeo Jin Goo and Jang Geun Suk, and neither is anywhere to be seen at the start. Instead we get a boring af set up that could have easily been told through flashbacks or dialogue without wasting 2 whole episodes on it.

I’d say like 20-40% of people who started this dropped because of this. Just… unbelievably stupid.

The comment below yours says it gets good at episode 4 and even better at episode 5What do you think now?I havent…
It does get much better once the main plot starts happening, I feel like it was around ep 5 but I can’t remember exactly.

The FL is mostly boring and slightly crazy throughout it, but the two MLs is what kept me interested, their story is good. The only thing that disappointed me was that I expected so much more details that are never given in this. And at times the plot is vague and drops certain points randomly without much explanation as to what happened.

Se Ju was a good character and I liked his backstory, but I could have done without the romance XD

This drama was good, it dragged in parts, but there weren’t too many. Yeo Jin Goo was pretty good as the real king, that character had depth but as Ha Seon he was fine mostly because the character is slightly boring but gets more interesting towards the end.

Also, just FYI, in case you were wondering, I can tell by the kiss scene under the tree that Jin Goo is a good kisser.

I really don’t understand your confusion about the whole historians work because it was pretty clear. They write…
I never said she didn’t like him, I said that he wasn’t suited to being king and he wasn’t in any danger anymore at this point, and her motives to me were mostly driven by having lost a son she loved and wanted to replace.

Also you didn’t explain the part about being a historian that I actually talked about. Like at all. I talked about the fact, that in the show it’s made very clear that NO ONE but a historian may read the records. So how exactly are the records useful to anyone but future generations of historians, how do the common people benefit if they never get to actually see what’s inside the records? No one mentions a time period after which they are free to read, it’s implied they never are, since Hae Ryung won’t allow anyone to read a 20 year old record.

So, instead of explaining something that isn’t confusing and is clear in the drama, do you have an explanation for this at all?

Your comment had me dying!!!I do agree that regardless if it’s fiction or not, the plot has to make sense. Especially…
XD Im just really tired of the ‘it’s fiction’ excuse. People use it so much to justify bad and lazy writing, characters and plot and they love to use it when I talk about plot points where characters don’t act like real people. It’s always ‘but it’s a drama of course they’re not going to act like real people’…

And I know I shouldn’t XD but I get so fired up when I see someone say this.

I really think the writing for Yu Zhen and Shi Lei was done really well for this drama. Their characters react to situations in a way that completely works for the type of story this is. And the gradual change of their relationship doesn’t feel forced, it feels natural. I think this is why the married couple annoy me so much. Having two characters that do nothing, but move the plot along, next to two characters that are actually fleshed out makes it even more obvious how little thought went into writing them. The wife is an extrovert and the husband is an introvert. That’s literally their whole personality, and the actors don’t help either. Like their fine, but do they feel like a couple that’s so in love they want to get married? Not at all. They feel like two actors reading lines…

I totally agree that the show isn’t trying too hard really makes it easy to watch and get into, and the mains are good enough and interesting enough not to need that many support characters.
