I think its not a bl i watched first 2 episodes and there is just a gay vampire probably you guys saw him on tiktok…
He’s not gay, he’s a vampire one of his lines is ‘I don’t care about the sex’ implying in the show that he’s bi, but he actually means he doesn’t care which sex he’s eating. So basically it’s a lot of queer baiting
they dont like that their government is glorifying and ignoring the fact that....their government murdered its…
XD it’s always easy to call someone who has a different opinion than yours an idiot, isn’t it? It also tells me what kind of person you are...
You know absolutely nothing about how this drama is planning on portraying or not portraying what happened.
Also I’m not going to read your whole comment, your grammar and spelling is off and it’s hard to understand what your even trying to say. So next time maybe spell check first.
they dont like that their government is glorifying and ignoring the fact that....their government murdered its…
So your take is that we should stop making movies and shows about anything to do with death? So we should ban classics like Schindler’s list? Or the last king of Scotland? I’ll stop myself from writing a whole list here, but there’s a lot more. I know enough about South Korea to know that at this moment in time, they have more pressing issues than something that happened in the past.
Like maybe the absolutely atrocious level of sexual harassment and rape in their country? Maybe the horrible level of gay men with HIV who live like their fucking lepers, maybe the ridiculously high rate of women being murdered. Or here’s a classic South Korea is literally one the countries with the biggest gender gap, as in their women are still treated like second rate citizen still paid like it, and there’s barely any of them that hold high positions in their society.
So yeah, I don’t think they should be wasting their time complaining about a fucking drama. You do understand it’s a drama? No ones actually being hurt by a drama, just like no one was hurt by the thousands of other movies we’ve made about tough subjects.
"Jun woo is a homicidal maniac sure, but he seems like the better option tbh" .............. you do you babe,…
So you think paying witnesses of and torturing ppl are on the same level?
She agrees to murder because Vin tells her that’s the only way she can deal with Babel. How exactly is that not influencing her into doing something she never would have before?
But what didn't you understand about this scene? And it wasn't about russian mafia, but italian!
No the guy that Jung woo sent to Korea to get information on Vincenzo was tortured by the Russian mafia, he says so when Vincenzo is questioning him about who the real chairman is. The scene was done that way to look cool and make Vincenzo look tough and scary. But he uses a torture technique used by the Russian on prisoners called Russian roulette it’s a game played with a gun and one bullet. It’s a known fact that the Russian mafia uses scare tactics to torture ppl just as much as pain, but they either didn’t know or didn’t care.
"Jun woo is a homicidal maniac sure, but he seems like the better option tbh" .............. you do you babe,…
XD you assume a lot. I never said bad ppl can’t fall in love XD I just said that in my opinion given the choice it’s a bad idea to go with either of them
Also... all the really bad things cha young has done so far, have been under the influence of Vin. Sure she agreed to it, but ppl do a lot of stupid things when they’re grieving and instead of steering her away from it, Vin pushed her right into the middle of it...
That scene where he plays something called Russian roulette with a guy that’s apparently been tortured by the Russian mafia and he freaks out? Did someone not to their research here? I don’t get it?
"Jun woo is a homicidal maniac sure, but he seems like the better option tbh" .............. you do you babe,…
XD sorry I guess I wasn’t really clear by what I meant. I don’t think she should be with either of them. Jung woo, without his secret identity, is a cute funny guy. Cha young only knows him as this person, my point was that having a choice of someone like Vin who she knows is a murderer and Jung who she things is just the intern who has a crush on her, to me Jung woo is the better option there. Now obviously she’s going to find out who he is, so by the end she’ll have a choice of two murderers and what, she should choose Vin coz he’s the one who’s still a nice guy? Like sorry but you can’t be a nice guy who also happens to have murdered a lot of ppl under orders from the mafia... so yeah, that’s why I don’t really like the romance plot in this...
Is it just me or is the romance angle between Vin and cha young just kind of weird? Look the character Vincenzo isn’t much of a character Is he? His who’s personality is Mafia, like that’s it. The whole thing with his mom doesn’t even register it feels forced and like they just did it because they didn’t want his whole thing to be Mafia, but it didn’t really work. Cha young has more of a personality but honestly i can’t see why she would ever like Vin at all. He’s a nothing character, like just there to look cool and beat guys up... Jun woo is a homicidal maniac sure, but he seems like the better option tbh
This is the main point of this drama. Most fangirls are not from Korea and this drama overcomes the nationality…
Your all sort of missing the point here. This ‘drama’ is just another way to make money of an ever growing untapped market through fantasy fulfilment. Also the show itself does not understand what makes Korean dramas so fun to watch, it consistently gets it very wrong.
People in South Korea apparently have nothing to do and have too much access to the internet.
Again, this is an easy way for normal citizen to ‘speak out’ about absolute nothing, but it gives them the feeling of having done something right. When in reality all their doing is ignoring the real issues in their country. Trust me it’s not fucking dramas misrepresenting some part of their history. That’s so far from the actual things they need to be speaking out against its fucking hilarious.
Jesus talk about judging a book by its cover smh... Both these ppl that commented underneath me really need to re-evaluate their way of thinking. One thinks Ito is a, quote ‘villain’ because of the way he looks! While the other is judging him as scum because he made one mistake in his life. This was a fucking accident! He wasn’t driving drunk! He wasn’t fucking driving into another person on purpose! It’s a fucking accident! He was persuaded to drive back within 3 minutes! 3 minutes! And he did go back. I bet neither of you even know anything about this actor, you just saw this article on the front page and wanted to be the fucking righteous human that decides who is what based on your shitty opinion alone.
Yeah that's the different thing of the show we aren't getting perfect or flawless leads like some of their actions…
I mean your definitely right about that. I’m glad that the leads aren’t portrayed as PERFECT human beings in every single way XD their just normal people, it’s a good thing if you look at it that way XD
There’s only one thing that’s starting to get to me, it’s the fact that exactly zero characters in this show are likeable. Even Dong Shik and Ju Won are both kind of assholes, even when they get along with each other I find myself with nothing to like about them because their personalities almost don’t exist. Dong Shik is just the crazy guy who’s looking for his sister and that’s as far as his hobbies and attributes go, and Ju Won is the guy that doesn’t like his dad and doesn’t like touching dirty stuff...
The rest of the cast? You could kill any of them next episode and I wouldn’t notice the difference, their all just there and they do like 2 things. Work and eat dinner at the meat shop...
Ok XD I just needed to vent about that. The show is great though, I still love it.
Don't forget South Korea has the highest rate of suicide in the developed world. What a nightmare of a society…
I live in Australia actually XD and like it’s no paradise here, but you can be sure as fuck you will never be physically abused at work, and the worst bullying you’ll experience is rumours and mild name calling.
Oh man I somehow thought I was the only one that at times feels uncomfortable at the amount of so called ‘funny’ violence in dramas! The worst ones are family oriented dramas that have those ‘funny, crazy’ moms or dads that attack their children with household objects up to a point where in the next scene they will actually have bruises or scratches. Like it can be funny in the right context and the right show, but it’s like a trope for them. And to me it’s kind of bad that this trope is so popular it keeps being repeated constantly. But it also kind of makes sense... tbh I try to stay away from reading too much into the abuse and horrible working conditions that idols have to live with, it’s just too sad and pathetic to read about the reality and then read about how many of the young ppl there are dying to go into the industry because it’s something they love doing and then having to deal with the shit that comes with it.
I think the hypocrisy you point out with South Korea and China is really just spot on, it’s something I never thought about but you are right. It’s funny how individuals can have this hive mind effect when it comes to cultural heritage and the pride your meant to take in it. I don’t really have that I’ve never experienced it, so I don’t really understand it and I guess I never will... and I don’t know if I want to.
Don't forget South Korea has the highest rate of suicide in the developed world. What a nightmare of a society…
Omg you know I was going to mention the suicide rate but I kinda got distracted and forgot. The leading cause of death of teenagers and ppl in their 20’s and 30’s in South Korea is suicide! Like for a moment I couldn’t believe but then I thought about it for a second, like yeah that sounds about right...
It’s easy to get lost in the world of k drama and think that it’s such a beautiful country and that their values are so great. But yeah, the reality, like you mention is anything but that. The patriarch focused society is the worst part, all those sweet rom coms are so far from the truth it’s sad. Most women in South Korea are mistreated and verbally abused by their boyfriends or husbands at some point in their lives.
Ugh sorry for rambling on >_< You know I love k dramas I really do, and I too get lost in the fantasy. I just find it grossly disappointing that they would cancel a drama for such a reason while pretty much 100% of modern dramas portray their society these days completely inaccurately as well. And I agree with you it’s even more ridiculous that the drama got to this point without anyone catching on or saying anything.
I imagine what standards western shows hold their actors up to, I mean it takes A LOT to get fired of a western show, like Charlie Sheen level insanity, imagine if he’d been fired for being a bully in school...
I’m not saying bullying isn’t bad, and I know this show is being cancelled because of something completely different, but two other shows have been delayed and re cast because the main leads used to be assholes in high school. Imagine having your life ruined by something you did 10 years ago. And your not the same person anymore, there’s a big shift in personality with pretty much every human being when you go from being a teenager to an adult, 80% of ppl in their late 20s will tell you they hate and are ashamed of the person they were as a teenager and the ones that don’t are lying usually.
South Korea fosters a culture of abuse in the workplace, their culture specifically targets ppl who are weaker or not as successful not as rich, their taught to think of ppl like that as failures and then when their children start to copy the behaviour their parents exhibit in the workforce they suddenly go, oh no that’s not ok? What exactly were they expecting?
Hate on me if you want, but the cases of sexual abuse in south Korea are rising, women account for 98% of reported cases (in around 10.000 cases, in one year) of domestic violence and sexual harassment and more than half the homicide cases in the whole country, as in South Korea has one of the highest rates of female homicide in the world. Their government refused to extradite a known child pornography distributor after he’d served an 18 month sentence for the crime. 18 month for child pornography distribution? It’s a joke.
You know why they ‘care’ so much about bullying? Let me make it clear, they don’t, they would prefer to keep their society and culture the way it is, but you know, these days abuse and violence aren’t a good look, especially since every single person in the world can see exactly how much of it happens in your country. So they punish their celebrities for it, for a few years before they make a come back and no one gives a fuck anymore.
Ugh I don’t even know what I’m trying to say anymore, I read too much and I get pissed off easily...
It also tells me what kind of person you are...
You know absolutely nothing about how this drama is planning on portraying or not portraying what happened.
