Currently on episode three : why is the ML always so angry? Everything is making him furious so instread of talking…
I mean, you wouldn’t be angry if you’d lived a large portion of your life trying to make up for a murder your father committed? Always feeling guilt in the back of your mind? Not being able to sleep? Dreaming about it? Living constantly with that knowledge? I think I might be jumping down people’s throats too if that was me...
Was that cat harmed in real life? At the beginning of episode 1?
Why would you even think that? I don’t understand... I mean you almost believed they’d really harmed a cat just for a scene enough to come here and ask about it. But why? Did you just feel the need to be the morality police? Where you actually hoping they had harmed it so you could go on a crusade about it? I’m sorry I just really don’t understand exactly what you were thinking?
Honestly I would recommend anyone who watches this to stop at ep 10 and just take it as the end. It’s actually a much better ending than what was given. Even if it leaves some things unresolved it’s still better than the mess that happens after ep 10. XD oh god it was such a good show right up until that moment >_< how do you manage to fuck something great up so easily? Why would you make your audience get invested in a character like Joon for 10 episodes, a character that literally just suffers through the worst shit for those 10 episodes and at the one moment where it seems like he might get a break you decide that, actually he’s not a real person, sorry.
Obviously this drama isn’t for everyone, I think a lot of ppl that watch k dramas do so because they tend to be unrealistic and fantasy fulfilling. And this drama is so far removed from any fantasy anyone living or dead has ever had XD The message in it can get heavy handed tbh, but it is very well written and it’s a little bit deeper than your usual slice of life, destiny brought us together, rom com. And tbh I don’t usually like movies and shows that try to be deep, because 80% of the time they fail and it feel like hours of reading inspirational quotes on Instagram while tied to a chair. But this show manages it. I mean the ending makes no fucking sense whatsoever, the twist was really unnecessary tbh, if they’d ended with Hye Ja just dying of natural causes while Joon goes of to live his life, it would have been perfect, but k dramas can never leave well enough alone.
I don't think the writer will go that way... agreed that it's too easy an explanation. LDS is clearly deranged…
I just hope that the writing keeps up, I know it’s not exactly easy to write a show like this and keep it this good all the way through, so far it’s probably one of the few show I’ve ever seen that isn’t predictable in some way or another. Everything about it is total chaos XD but in a good way. And Dong Sik is one of the best characters I’ve seen in a k drama tbh that’s why I think the split personality thing is too easy. There’s so very many k dramas that use the sociopath, can’t feel emotions, personality disorder trope so I get why it might seem that way, but this shows had 4 episodes air and it’s already so intense I just don’t think they’d go for something obvious. I really love that I absolutely can’t figure out what’s going on with the townspeople, at some point I feel like their all in on it XD anyway it’s a really good show.
Isn’t it amazing how many people that watched this show have studied quantum physics and decided to log onto drama list to leave comments on it? Wow, so so many of you must have loved this show, since you understand exactly how time travel works thanks to your advanced degrees...
I just want to tell you, in case you actually think leaving comments that you need to understand quantum physics to understand a tv show is a smart thing to comment.
It’s not. And trust me, no one reading your comments thinks you smart, they all think your an idiot.
Also, no one should ever need to study advanced theories on anything to be able to understand the basic premise of a tv show, plus i am absolutely 100% positive that the creators and writers of this show did not intend it to be that way.
I studied graphic design. And this show made sense to me, there’s absolutely no need to have an understanding of anything except common sense and the ability to concentrate.
I think the split personality angle feels to obvious and kinda lazy for this show. Because at episode 3 this show is literally pulling out all the stops to not be obvious and easily figured out. But I do think the writers are making Dong Sik’ personality the way it is so the audience will think he’s got mental issues to throw us off, I definitely think that he’s very much aware of everything that’s going on
I watched this ages ago, I liked it, and like the whole seeing the future bit wasn’t even necessary for me, would have been kinda the same without that IMO.
I felt the same way with some of this, you know like why doesn’t anyone actually do anything? But I think there’s a simple explanation and it’s culture and traditions. The Japanese are very set in their ways and the way the ‘good’ people act in this movie is not actually ridiculous to them while it may be to us. Getting involved in other families business is a huge offence to them and they just don’t do it. My mother was like this when I was growing up and she still is to some extent, I think it’s hard to understand why I still support her unless your me, and my friends and other family are constantly telling me to stop, but I can’t really tbh. I don’t live with her anymore and my life turned out well enough, but I still can’t just abandon her. My friend watched this with me and for the life of her she could not understand why the son doesn’t just take his sister and run away, I tried to explain to her, but it’s not really something you can explain. And even though we’re more evolved as a species about these things, it’s not always the same for everyone. About her never seeing any repercussions, I absolutely wish she would have, at least in the end. Again though XD I don’t exactly remember but she doesn’t actually do anything that’s illegal throughout the movie, does she? Except in the end of course, I remember her doing shitty stuff but not anything that could get her in trouble. I think this is the big message in this movie, isn’t it? Watching her do these things and act the way she does, without any remorse or guilt is fucking terrible, but we all know that there’s real people out there that are like this, and just like her they live their lives without having to ever see any consequences for their actions
I enjoy the world building in this, I think I already said so in the comments on part 1 in my huge ass comment where I mostly complain XD. So I’m back to do some more...
The Idea that Neanthals can’t fight with swords because their breathing is different is just a little bit too stupid you know? They’re meant to basically be a superhuman race but they breathe weird so the can’t use a sword? Am I the only one that thinks that sounds like someone gave up trying to explain how stuff works in this universe? Anyway, they’re already stretching the plot pretty far... everything is set up but it’s like the screen writer refuses to actually make stuff happen you know? We find out super early that eunsom Tanya and saya are going to be the main instigators, but like 10 episodes later all three of them are still literally in the same place. Eunsom is stuck as a slave for like half a season just being depressed, I get where they’re going with him being there, you know the whole rebellion that obviously being set up, but fuck me it’s taking a long time. In the meantime it’s just Tagon and Asa Ron going back and forth trying to be the one on top with they’re schemes that get more boring with each episode >_< there’s only so many times you can watch them measuring their dicks before it gets boring af.
You know the reason why I complain so much about this show is ‘coz I really like it, so the little things get to me even more. It’s so good and everything about it is done so well, like if someone just put in a bit more effort it could have been fucking great.
I get what this show is going for, The world building is done really well, the sets the costumes the acting, you know it’s all great.
But, it’s trying too hard to be GOT, but not really succeeding? I have nothing against it trying, it’s the fact that it doesn’t seem to get exactly what made GOT great in the beginning.
The characters in Arthdal are all boring. Except for the three main ones I don’t really care about what’s happening to anyone else. And that’s because in GOT even if you hated certain characters they were still fascinating to watch. You never actually knew or could guess who was going to die next and in the end we all def guessed wrong about who was going to be king. In Arthdal... I can guess pretty much what’s going to happen in this show, it follows a pretty basic fantasy formula. Look don’t hate me ok? I’m not saying it’s bad, it’s actually much better than about 70% of fantasy shows being made these days, but I still end up skipping like 50% of the parts that don’t have eunsom Tanya or saya in them, coz no matter how important they try to make the other characters, they’re really just not. Also, there’s not enough characters? The power struggle in this show is a constant back and fourth between like 4 people. It gets repetitive pretty quick, especially once it’s down to like Tagon and Asa Ron >_<. Then there’s the Faith system. Basically the gods they worsphip, it’s too complicated and is never explained too well, only Asa Sin and Aramun really, all the other gods they keep mentioning are never explained. Are they real people as well? Like Sin and aramun? Or are they legend? If they’re real what’s their connection to Sin and Aramun? Why are they gods at all? Umm yeah, I know it’s not too important, but the plot itself relies so heavily on the fact that being direct descendant is so important, characters do stuff because of faith so not knowing about a bunch of the stuff surrounding the faith confuses me at times.
Some of the plot is a little nonsensical, like when Eunsom is caught by the slavers and they find out he’s an iugtu, they keep him alive because the leader says he just paid a huge sum for the slaves, but, he didn’t, he didn’t buy Eunsom he captured him after he’d paid for the rest of the slaves. He could have killed him without any losses. It’s plot armour I know but it’s just pretty stupid tbh. I could go on but I’m just gunna stop. I like the show ok, I just can’t help myself.
Yeah he's definitely raking up a lot of expensive ads which i think more to it has got to do with his gorgeous…
I watched it up to ep 8 I think? Can’t remember exactly which episode it was, I stuck it out pretty far though considering that it bored at annoyed me from like ep 1 >_<. I can list all the reason why I didn’t like it if you really want to know? XD I’m just assuming you probably don’t?
Yeah he's definitely raking up a lot of expensive ads which i think more to it has got to do with his gorgeous…
Is it a web drama? I just assumed it was actually airing on a network as well not just Netflix. Honestly Lovestruck is the only one of his dramas that I actually liked XD I thought Healer was terrible, but I know it’s very popular >_< anyway sorry I wasn’t like trying to say he shouldn’t be on the list, I was just curious ^^
XD I see your really into the cute lil bl dramas they’ve been making lately. I don’t know if they would stand the test of time tbh, but they are pretty good considering this is new territory for Korea.
Yeah he's definitely raking up a lot of expensive ads which i think more to it has got to do with his gorgeous…
I was under the impression that a bunch of his dramas did really well, like Healer or recently Lovestruck in the city. Most of the time, with any famous actor, like half of their filmography is crap XD
I see a lot of ppl comparing this to other shows and video games, just FYI this show is based on an English show also called ‘humans’ which in turn is based on a Swedish show called ‘real humans’ I somehow doubt it’s going to be any good. A show that’s been remade so many times by different countries, is going to lose a lot of what made the original so good.
The director and screen writer be like who cares? Lmao
For some reason you seem to think that implying that the director and screen writer don’t give a fuck about accurately portraying other cultures is a good thing?
Just, The consigliere of a crime family, even in Italy, would never be the one carrying out a hit or a take over or anything like that. So that first scene is already pretty ridiculous... a consigliere is literally the third highest position in the hierarchy. He would have other, lower members be the ones to actually throw that lighter so he himself can’t be implicated...
I get it’s a drama, but accuracy still matters...
Also, the idea that a son takes over the boss position after his father dies is more of a Korean ideology. From what I gather the son wasn’t exactly competent when it came to the business. The guy taking over is usually the one with the most power and backers in the family, and it’s pretty much always someone much older. Again I know Korea has a thing for young, attractive, powerful ppl, but it’s so inaccurate it gives me headaches. I’m so fukn happy he leaves the family so early on I don’t know if I could handle more interpretation on how the mafia does things. I mean, like putting out a hit on someone in your own family without setting them up as a snitch or informer first, which is literally the only reason the mafia would ever kill their own, not just coz they don’t like each other...
I think it would have maybe been better if Wol Ryung & Seo Hwa’ story was told in flashbacks? I’m literally just watching the 2nd episode now, so I don’t really know tbh, but their story seems really rushed, and going by the actual plot of this I feel like maybe showing their story at all is unnecessary? Maybe it’s more important later on? But right now it seems very useless to show their story to me...
The message in it can get heavy handed tbh, but it is very well written and it’s a little bit deeper than your usual slice of life, destiny brought us together, rom com. And tbh I don’t usually like movies and shows that try to be deep, because 80% of the time they fail and it feel like hours of reading inspirational quotes on Instagram while tied to a chair. You are just so smart! Can’t believe you figured out the definition of fiction! good work!
