Stranger things have happened..

There are many kdramas that would've been better off having just 12-14 epis. However if I think back how many of 10-14 epi shows were actually really good over the past two years? I can barely think of a few. Mostly it's just rushed endings/unendings galore.

I formed my opinion based on watching the drama & nothing else.

I'd love to see that, but I get the feeling that he is only authentic when he just basically playing himself.

I think it's worse than that. He is bad even at the stuff he is typecast for. Gong Hyo Jin is amazing, but I doubt she could lift him up, many have failed before.

The King Eternal Monarch is an interesting case, because comparing the script to Goblin, Descendants or Secret Garden if you look at the dialog & various other plot elements it's not inherently worse, in fact it's arguably better than Descendants'. In my opinion LMH just killed that show with his bad acting.

I'm yet to start watching this drama, but it's possible to make a plot where you all would accept this. Scifi elements & space allows for a lot of situations in which this wouldn't really be cheating. (time dilation, being lost in space together for years and several other space opera tropes could come into play)

Counter-opinion:

I think the chemistry is average, despite the actors being good outside of that. The story is ok for a Korean mystery/thriller story, but it gets really boring between eps 8-10, though I'm yet to catch up to 11-12.
For context Korean thrillers tend to be much worse than good American ones from over 10 years ago, because they always over-explain every little thing & there is just too much insanity in the plots in general.

If things continue like this my final score is likely to be 7~.
As for ppl uprating their beautiful OPPA, I feel some of that may be influencing you all as well here in this comments section.

The ratings were meaningless for at least 2 years or more.
Just read the reviews, positive & negative instead of relying on ratings.

I remember talking about that here on MDL & some butthurt person responded to me that I wouldn't feel the same way if my religion or culture were to be the one insulted. (and then I told him that it is insulted all the time these days & I'm quite alright with it)

It goes both ways. The studio is also spamming 10 star ratings to increase international viewership, since it costs next to nothing to them.

Even though King the Land is a pretty weak drama, the whole drinking arab prince thing 1 star rating fiasco was a bit insane, then again the resulting rating is still too high.

I don't really see that as a problem by itself, she had a job, she went to work 5-6 days a week & hopefully got very well paid. Though the fact that she was 36kg while having such an active lifestyle is insane & quite possibly a crime in one way or another. Bullying and abuse are of course a huge problem & completely separate from the workload. Unfortunately China is not doing so hot with worker's rights & the rule of law does not apply to everyone equally, so it's incredibly hard to do anything in Lusi's position & she could very well be chased out from the industry for stepping out of line.

I'm still shocked that the censors are a ok with excessively malnourished women appearing on screen. You would think that an autocratic society could solve this easily.

You sound just a weeee bit like a Soompi article. Yes they are both pretty good, but I don't feel that they really have that much comfort and chemistry with each other. Just look at Soo Bin in Robot for a comparison..

I started watching this yesterday and I I found the first two episodes awesome. It's been such a long time since I felt this way while watching a kdrama. Gosh I really hope they have not messed it up since then..

I'm yet to start this, but suddenly I have doubts if I should. Can you please elaborate? Do they just break up in e11 & are broken up as of e19?

From my perspective:

-The standup comedy is awful & there is a lot of it. (Shen Yue herself is not doing that well in these scenes, probably because the dialog is just too awkward. Understanding some of the Chinese does not make it better))
-FL backtracks a lot & some of her decisions or the lack thereof are just really arbitrary.
-ML's condition is not explained well & there is a lot of contradicting stuff about that not making any sense, even if we considered this a fantasy drama.
-I'm only at ep 20 right now, but I feel I've seen quite a bit of repetition already.

Not saying this is bad, but compared to `It's Okay, That's Love`, which is the same exact genre btw, this is rather weak, at most a 7, probably a bit less. (on a scale of 1 to 10, not MDL scale where 6 is trash & 9 is out of this world good)
