It’s not sad, it’s actually has a lot funny stuff but very relatable too. The main 2 leads are the prince who was sheltered all his life in the place but fall in love with the heroine at first sight. The heroine is a pragmatic and intelligent young lady who wanted to challenge the culture and norms of the times to become a female historian. She falls in love very slowly with the lead. Both of them face many challenges and learn for it. There r 4 episodes to go and it got a bit more serious recently as they r heading for the resolutions and final. Both leads dad were killed (when they were very young) by the same person. So, it’s normal that it’s a more serious know to deal with the truth. Hope this helps. I actually like this drama very much and like such leading lady character. She is very relatable to many of us girls out in real world.
@ sandhyamohonraj, I personally liked this drama. It is a lot better than many other dramas I watched. It’s not my favorite. But, I still liked it more than other fantasy drama out there. I even liked it more than goblin as I actually did not see any chemistry between the main couple in goblin. Some people were critical because it’s not like the original. But, I don’t mind that considering I did not read the original . It would have been a lot better has the writing been better. But, it not definitely deserving of all these bad reviews. I guess some people were not happy that the main guy had a gf at the time of this drama and was acting romantically with anther actress. Which is a wired reason to give a bad review in my opinion as actors need to work even if they have GF or BF. I remember when I was watching it. It was like a war between fans. It was crazy all the bashing, name calling etc...
I personally thought Shin Se Kyung's acting in Sensory Couple was pretty decent. How is her acting in this?
She is amazing in her new drama rookie historian. I thought she did well in this one too. The problem was the writing of the drama and the fact that the production was very low budget. Many of the stunts were done cheaply compared to other drama by the same channel. It was a mid week drama, it seam they did not want to invest much in it. Also, they already new that Koreans will not be into it as they changed the story from the historical setting into a modern one. Koreans don’t like such changes. So it’s obvious the lack of investment in this drama. I still watched and thought all actors did pretty well considering the bad (very very bad actually) writing and low budget. Also, the chemistry between both leads was really good. It made for the bad writing at times. I thought she did pretty well in this one.
I spent the last 2 days rewatching this drama as there were no episodes this week. I’m even more impressed with the drama as I watched consecutively. The journey of goo hea ryung from this girl who wanted to challenge her time norms and culture, into becoming a historian who is bullied by her colleagues into this historian who is very valued is mesmerizing. Also, to see this realistic and pragmatic girl falling in love very slowly like slaw rain showers that socks us slowly then being hit hard by the reality of the situation of this love is so deeply captivating. What makes this drama more amazing is that goo hea ryung could be any of us girls out there. That’s makes the drama even more special. Kudus to the writer for writing such amazing story and kudus to the team of actors and the people behind the scenes for bring this amazing drama to us. I can’t say enough about how much I like this drama. It’s rare for me to be fully emerged in a drama like I do with this one. I think the last dramas I liked this much was eternal love and nervana in fire.
I personally hated the male lead in a ashes of love and hated him more after reading the novel as he actually rapped the girl in the novel. It was horrible. He tried to kill her then continued to sleep with her when she thought he is giving her supper power as the girl was in a child state and stupid in this way. I also did not understand why he kept pushing her to be with him and wondered how much of it was a freedom of choice or just a result of the moon immortal connecting them with the thread of love. That was to me one of the example were I thought the male lead is horrible he does not deserve the girl. He also knew that his mother killed both her parents yet he wanted her for him. What kind of a woman ends up with the man who’s mom killed both her parents. From the exterior ashes of love look so mesmerizing but the longer I thought about it the more I hated the characters - all of them actually. Good god, I seriously don’t want to remember that drama. So much wasted time to hate all the main character. I think, normally , I prefer the main lead even if he is not shown in the best way. for example cheese in the trap, I did not have second lead syndrome nor in go back couple. Some dramas were I felt strongly for the second lead were when the first did thing that made him undeserving of the girl. One of them was fashion king. I know it’s one of the badly rated drama because of what happened to the male lead. But I totally understand why and actually rooted for the second lead and he got the girl in this one. I also wanted the second lead to get the girl in boys over flowers as the main lead was so horrible, but it did not happen.
I am on episode 8 and have severe Second Lead Syndrome. I just adore Min Woo. Am I the only one?
I shipped them together so bad too lol. They have so much in common and their chemistry is good. It’s hard not to ship. But as the drama progressed, I stated shipping her with the prince more. Yes, they have different characters and dreams. But when it comes to caring for people and saving their life, They r both on the same page and ready to do anything to help. In the latest episode when the prince told Hae-Ryung “you are my everything”, it was very touching and he really meant it. I think officer min will become a priest or something. He seems to have the character for that.
After HDL ending, I thought I'd get some happy vibes out of this one for this week, but damn, it turned super…
I think because it’s close to the ending and everything need to be revealed. I was expecting it to get quite serious toward the end and before the revelations. I would still liked it if the drama was longer and the prince and Hae-Ryung got to go together in other missions while continuing with the same sense of humor. I think the writer of this drama is really good. She/he kept it interesting to the end.
I was wondering why not even one of the secrets (Haeryung's identity, why Dowon was hidden + denied of marriage,…
It was 40 from the start. That how it was advertised on Netflix as 20 (2 parts episodes) I think it was thought to be 16 (2 parts ) because this is the normal episode length for kdramas usually.
I can’t understand historian song! She still provide the second minister with information and would even consider marrying prince lee rim! I was contemplating the idea that the second minister might consider her for the marriage. But, I thought he still value her more to provide info about the CP. oh well. Lets wait and see The king also puzzles me. From some of his action, i think he does not like the prince. But, from other actions, he still seams protective of him. He also seems to hide some information about him from the second minister. I’m not sure if he is an accomplice to the second minister or just afraid from him. Today’s episode was really good. It was nice to see the interactions between the historians and have some love time of our main leads. But, it got sad toward the end when they declared to prospective marriage. I can’t wait to see what going to happen tomorrow. But, still there r 5 more episodes to go. I’m not sure if there will be progress tomorrow or the conflict will escalate. From one point, I want the main couple to have their happy ending. From another, I know that reaching that means the end of the drama and I really don’t want it to end.
Rapunzel scene is so hilarious and funny. I mean imagine the prince trying to impress Hae-Ryung with Rapunzel story and her answer was like: I’m sure Rapunzel would just have passed out or died while the prince is using her hair to clim the tower. Savage hae ryung in the best way lol. then the expression on other actors faces was spot on. And how Hae ryung tried to fix it by calling the prince mamaaaaa in the cutest way. I think I watched the scene more than 10 time already. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode.
I think the character of Prince Yi Rim deserves to be with the FL. I am surprised that no one points that out.…
I think this drama did great in building up the relationship between both leads. At first, I liked how she and officer min had so much in common while she seemed different from the prince. But as the drama progresses, I can see why she and officer min won’t work. He is a man of principle and I like his character but He and goo hea rung have fundamental diffrence. He puts principles above everything else even human life. Unlike Hae rung, to her human life is above anything else. That where she and the prince have a fundamental agreements. For example, in the latest episode. Prince lee rim was ready to protect the Catholics even if he will face consequences and goo hae rung supported him strongly. I think both of them are very attentive to each other not just him to her. She also supports him by standing by his side. She nursed him when he was sick, she was ready to endanger her life to defend him at the night when he was almost attacked. They both complete each other beautifully as I see it. It was very smart to build the relationship slowly like that. I can see how it works and will last due to that. It’s was also very interesting to see how the6 developed their love to each other while they were facing difficulties. Unlike other dramas where we really don’t know why this person likes that.
I like this drama very much. The whole cast have amazing chemistry with each other while they seam to have so much fun. It’s rare to see a whole cast complementing each other with an amazing chemistry as they do in this drama. I like how funny this drama too. While it presents very serious issues about gender and class discrimination among other issues, it does so with a funny senses of humor. Goo Hae Ryun is defiantly one of my favorite hereon in kdrama land. She is smart and strong but not in ur face strong. She stands behind her conviction and ready to learn from her mistakes. It’s definitely very refreshing to see different type of leading ladies in Korean drama. I’m looking forward for the remaining episodes.
I agree. It awesome drama. I don’t know how I’m gonna wait a week to see what’s coming next.
I think the evil minister will try to marry him for someone to spy on him like he did with the crown prince (though it looks like his daughter the crown prince wife not really giving him anything unlike the other historian) but, I think lee rim will not agree to that. He will not follow on his brother footsteps and agree to marry for political reasons. Even from the upcoming next episode preview, he seems to take more leading role in the relationship. I can’t wait to see what he will say when he entered Goo Hae Ryun working place lol.
