It's 6 years. The ML is a child prodigy so he started his undergrad when he was 15 years old or so. He was around…
thanks. then it makes sense.

How big is the age difference between the leads? They "look" very close agewise however after watching a couple of episode the age difference should be over 10 years apart.

Looking at episode 1, Yu Sen lead a surgery the same year Xi Guang is in the first year of college.
That makes her 18/19 at that time and he has to be at least 28.
did I miss something?

fun fact:In this entire show there is not a single romantic scene between Dal-Mi und Ji-Pyung.There are only 2…
I never really saw any hope for Ji-Pyung to be honest and the character build up was crucial for his role in helping Do-San and Dal-Mi to get together. He also plays a crucial part in them getting back together or rather Dal-Mi forgiving Do-San for his lies. (before time skip)

One thing that gets overlooked:
Dal-Mi falls in love with Do-San at the networking party, yes because of his looks and their letters but also because of his selfless helping hand for her.
This is showcased after Dal-Mi finds out the truth and she is much more concerned WHY Do-San lied and less THAT Do-San lied. Initially she thought Do-San did so because of money and only after that is cleared up - by HJP - they start to patch things up before the time skip happens.

Do-San's warm hearted / selfless character is one of the reasons for Dal-Mi's love and HJP is exactly the opposite.
HJP is very materialistic and basically does only something if he has some kind of benefits or he is repaying a debt.

Also:
Dal-Mi is looking for a partner she can grow with.
One: for herself to become successful
Two: because of her bet with her sister "who is going to be better"
HJP, already a "big shot", was never able to match this role

Dropped this after 3rd episode since I found out she ends up with Do San not Ji-pyung so I won't torture myself…
fun fact:
In this entire show there is not a single romantic scene between Dal-Mi und Ji-Pyung.

There are only 2 scenes that come remotely close:
First: he confessed to her but did that while apologizing about his part of the lie and while he still was talking about Do San (and clearing things up for him). not really romantic
(we never see Dal-Mi wonder about this confession ...)

Second: after the time skip he tells Dal-Mi that if she gets into trouble he wants to be the first one she asks for help (fyi: she does not. After several other people she thinks about trying to call Ji-Pyung and at that moment Do-San calls :-D)

I still don't get why this is called a love triangle :-D

Wiliams suprised me, I did not like him in A Love For The Future. But here he showcased great acting skills
Zhao Lu Si - as expected - with a perfect portrayal of her role

I loved that this story was not about love but about trust.
They showcased this better than any drama I watched before.

This drama is very good (8.5-9/10)
But there are too many plotholes in an urban romance drama, that should showcase a realistic story.
That's why I am not able to call it great (9.5-10/10)
Acting however, clear cut 10/10

He told her he wanted to step back until he could prove to her parents that he was worthy. She was upset at him…
yes they were dating at that point but fl's parents did not know that!
she introduced Shan Shan as her friend and co-worker and Shan Chong as Shan Shan's brother and later as her snowboarding coach

fl hid her relationship with ml before they went to the parents house

the parents of course suspected they were a couple - especially the mother - because of the interaction they watched before between fl and ml.

that is why you are right: she is not confronting her enough
however based on the knowledge everybody has the fl has no standing to further defend the ml.
fl cannot defend ml without revealing her relationship.
the mother - knowing that - uses that to her advantage and attacks the capability of ml and thus attacks their (potential) relationship

of course: how strong the fl would fight for ml after disclosing their relationship is something we will not know and there is a big probability that she would still be not fighting hard enough

episode 17 they take a "break" they make up in episode 23....so....yeah🙃 it's worse because they are officially…
they meet again in episode 21
at the end of episode 21 the scene starts of them getting back together
at episode 22 in the first two minutes they get back together

to be honest:
the breakup does feel much shorter than episode 17 to 21

the first reason would be that right at the beginning of episode 18, after their breakup, Wei Zhi and Jiang Nan Feng talk about the breakup and Jiang Nan Feng basically explains to Wei Zhi why Shan Chong chose to have this break and why this is still hopeful.

second reason:
after that episode 18 to 20 focuses about Wei Zhi's work, the relationship of Jiang Nan Feng and Lao Yan, the training of Shan Chong with the national team

third reason:
considering the national team training they would have been separated even without the breakup.
if you would remove the breakup from the story you could take episode 18 to 20 as it is and you would have to make very few changes where the breakup is part of the story
(I think this has a lot to do with the cutting of 13 episodes and the reduction of a lot of scenes. however: I like it because it is better than a nonsense breakup that keeps on dragging)

episode 21 keeps its focus on bringing Wei Zhi and Shan Chong back together (geographically) until they basically do at the end

He told her he wanted to step back until he could prove to her parents that he was worthy. She was upset at him…
to be fair:
Shan Chong did not have the status of Wei Zhi's boyfriend at the time the mother spoke thos harsh words - although the parents were suspecting that.
also: everything the mom and dad said during dinner may be harsh, but reality and the truth.
He could get hurt, his career is short compared to "normal" jobs, there is only 1 gold medal. it is also a niche sport where it is absolutely possible that he wont be able to secure enough money to set himself and his family up for the time after his career

however the FL did defend him on the facts, that he is outstanding and can win gold, that he is a good coach.

Defending him beyond that and about their lives together would be impossible without revealing their relationship first.
That in itself to me was the problem: she hid him while the parents had a very strong suspicion and thus was unable to "fight" her parents about her love or rather "protect" her love.

She did not know about the meeting between Shan Chong and her father.
That was Shan Chongs mistake. He should have told her and they should have faced it together.

Her father meeting Shan Chong without telling Wei Zhi and meddling on that level was his mistake. He can meet him, even at the beginning without telling his daughter. He can also voice his concerns but he could have also
made his stance more clear - like he did after Shan Cong and Wei Zhi got back together.
However as unfair that was to Shan Chong, it could also count as a test how sincere he is to Wei Zhi.

I did not like fl's mother either, her 180 in personality felt rushed but that may be because of the 13 episodes that were cut.

this drama is incredible well paced.
this is very rare especially for a 40 episode historical romance drama evolving around the royal court
add to that a very fresh take of a story of women relying on themselves to make a living while struggling and a very mature couple with a great love story

I get that his acting was amazing. But how are you sympathizing with him?Yes he accumalated trauma in his life…
I agree. He did an amazing job as an actor.
There are some loopholes about his actions as the character, but those are based on writing not on acting.
The acting itself was great.

I am - however - unable to sympathize with the character

I get that his acting was amazing. But how are you sympathizing with him?
Yes he accumalated trauma in his life as a child. not the only one and most don't turn out like him.

He is a complete sociopath.

b/c the original chinese version is that much better than this remake. a lot of folks who watched it, me included,…
true if you consider this a complete remake with the same focus.

To me Go Ahead is a family drama that has some romance drama in it

Family By Choice however feels much more like a romance drama that has some family drama in it.

Why do I feel like the ending of this season might actually be almost the ending of a possible season 2?
The way Jung Jinman looks, like he went through hell, can not be explained simply by him faking his death.
However: him having a separate showdown with bale or with babylon while Jian is having her fight at the shopping mall? that would explain it.
a ton of potential for a lot of flashbacks if there is a season 2

combined with his fully seasoned "long term plan" to fight those that are remaining: perfect :-)

hope season 2 will be happening
