I feel like you answered your own conundrum. You say you don't understand the ratings on MDL, but you go on to…
You said that the biggest problem is that people like perfect characters. And your post overall has a condescending tone of "I don't know why drama I consider bad are popular". If not outright condescending, then definitely a "holier than thou" attitude. I am trying to say that preferences are just preference. There is no good/bad or better/worse when it comes to what people can like. I can understand if you are pointing out technical issues or poor acting or horrible dialog delivery as a reason you don't understand how a drama can be popular. But you picked on subjective nature of preferences.

I also think people just want idealistic character rather than realistic. We are human being how can we be perfect?…
Thank you for phrasing it respectfully! I am not one to always prefer ideal characters. I love many dramas with morally questionable characters. But as you said, we shouldn't blame or look down upon people who prefer ideal characters.

Some ratings in this site I never understand. The last time I had a huge disparity with the popular ratings was…
I feel like you answered your own conundrum.

You say you don't understand the ratings on MDL, but you go on to say that you understand that some people like perfect characters in simple moral settings where as you prefer the grey morality.

You hit the nail on the head but didn't realize it. Drama preferences are just that - preferences. What one person likes may not be what another likes. what you are seeing is that the majority likes dramas to reflect this fantasy that may not exist in the real world.

Calling the majority preference a problem is odd though. Do you feel better after putting down others and showing how you are "not like others"?

I feel like people who might have enjoyed this drama could pass it by because of all the negative reviews. That’s…
I agree with your comments on the technical aspects. There were times I forgot about the absurdity of the script just because of how good the camera work and CGI was. I think this drama is failing with majority of audience because the characters are a little too flawed for the audience this drama was marketed to. They took two high profile actors who have some famous rom coms/romance under their belt and advertised only the romance and comedy aspects of the drama. Both actors are capable of drawing the type of crowd that would have enjoyed a drama about very flawed characters making flawed decisions. But the marketing implied we were getting pure innocent funny heroic sides of these two leads. People expected a rom com in space but got two leads cheating on their significant others, and one lead involved in extremely questionable and maybe illegal scientific process.

the fruit fly mating scene was where my patience snapped. it was such a waste of time in the drama, and doesn't add much to the drama unless they want to show the astronaut and scientist have zero respect for other's time and a pre set plan.

am really not vain, but i can't seem to go along with the dressing of the fl, what the heck is this and it keeps…
I feel they are trying too hard to make her fit some sort of "I am a PE teacher and I dress causally" thing. PE teachers can wear cute tracksuits! they can wear cute clothes outside of PE class! she had a couple of nice outfits including the blue and white sweater with bowties in front.

This drama had so much going for it and I honestly loved it until they dragged out the main couples story. Jae Won and Eun Ho took way too long to resolve their misunderstandings. and Eun Ho in general, was too blind to how she hurt others. If we are honest, what she did to Jae Won was worse than what her cheating ex did. At least she had closure and knew what happened. Jae Won literally lost the love of his life with zero explanation and struggled with it for so long. His years of trauma to me are worse than the betrayal she felt. But somehow the drama doesn't address it well.

I am watching this drama late, mostly because the format wasn't something I was sure I'd enjoy. Your review matches what I feel exactly! Title Brewing Love
Your opinion is very important...to you
well technically the parent comment was rude and unnecessary in the first place. Commenter could have left it at "it is boring ", or to be constructive, added comments on what part is boring (is the plot moving slow? is the beer business industry not interesting enough? are rhe side plots boring?). There was no need for "how are you guys watching this"? when clearly..it's a drama and it is released, so there will be a portion of people on earth watching it.

bring back the days where kdramas use to be of 16 episodes…
Nah. Tell the story that needs to be told. Some of these 8-12 episode dramas are paced really well. Needing to stretch it out to fit 16 eps just doesn't work for some stories. I personally would rather have 2 amazing 8 ep dramas than one mediocre 16 ep drama.
On The Oath of Love Nov 19, 2024
Like many modern Cdramas of past 4 to 5 years, this drama has an amazing first half and would have been great with 15 to 16 episodes. but in order to extend to 32, they change the characters entirely to create drama. First half the FL is this energetic, empathetic, caring person who is bubbly and happy. Second half she turns into this insecure and self centered person who somehow finds a way to make everything about her. Her age isn't a valid excuse because she handled things in the first half well despite being the same age.

sigh. someday we will get dramas we can enjoy all the way through.

National geograph- pfft. Yes, the pace is super slow and sluggish and the events of the past and the present literally…
The connection between the past and present is flimsy at best. the cop and location, that's it. If the drama was entirely from the cops perspective, it may have worked better. Her remembering the past as she tries to solve the present. Or keep the focus on present killer but have a twist of her being obsessed with the past killer and being a copycat. The focus on the current characters while they had zero connection to the past story was odd.

It is easily one of the best nhilistic noir thrillers in the last few years, together with for example Mask Girl…
I am not young, definitely not from the tik tok generation and while I enjoy rom coms with good looking leads, I never rate dramas just because of looks.

I still feel this drama didn't live up to its potential. Amazing actors with a good plot which failed at places because the characters in the present didn't feel fleshed out enough. Their motivations and fears weren't clear and certain things happened just so they could shoehorn the present story into the past.

Read through the reviews here in detail. there are some excellent well thought out critiques that aren't related to lack of attention or need for pretty boys.

Great actors. Beautiful locations. Interesting plot but the execution fell through. More in spoiler tagged comment,…
The past story about the motel was great. The gradual traumatic downfall of the owner family was sad and the revenge plot was interesting while also being kind of sad. The drama really makes you feel for the entire family.

The present story line was just odd. It started off well but the motivations of the characters both good and bad make no sense or very little sense. I didn't connect with the present characters and wasn't really rooting for the vacation rental owner after his failures to take action first.

I skipped most of last 2 episodes once most of the past was done.

Review The Frog Spoiler
I thought that the older vacation rental owner was the present age motel owner as well! as you said, in that case it makes sense that he just doesn't want to re-live the traumatic events of the past and hence would turn a blind eye to the murder of a child. once it is clear they are different people, it makes zero sense how anyone could be so cowardly and selfish as to not report that suspected crime.

Review The Frog Spoiler
came here to write a review and found yours which said everything I wanted to. The past story was well done a d worth a drama of it's own ending with the revenge killing. The present story's villain had very little believable motivation and after a while I honestly didn't care what happened to that plot. The cross over was weird as well..like the vacation rental owner who was too scared to take action suddenly got super interested and turned into a detective to find the old motel owner.

I finally finished this. Overall, not a bad watch.... the first episode is one of the best openers I've seen in…
Just finished ep 1 and honestly it was so good that I'll enjoy it as a stand alone movie no matter what happens later. it was so beautiful!

I agree with others that this is a dark thriller with an amazing plot twist. but what kept me watching was Kim Mu Yeol's acting. That man has range! never seen him before and I was impressed.

Both were innocent souls . I don't understand why they ended up committing suicide. They could have healed each…
absolutely not! Whether it was driven by desperation or not, whether the killer was about to walk away or not, he still killed two people. There is no forgiving that or healing from thar.

And Kim Mu Yeol's character? that kid was abandoned and lived just to find the truth. There is nothing left to live for and his life in the fringes of society s a bad guy didn't really help him cope from the trauma. And why would he in any way want a relationship with the killer?
