They prolly don't wanna affect the main love interest so they tone it down in the drama.
yeah… another is in the novel, the 37 years was theirs alone… but in the drama, CX and TSJ were in her consciousness

I thought the novel version was better… but it gets into infidelity territory and the director probably wanted to stay away from anything overt re: XL & XY
