I rewatch the conversation between Qi Yanjin and Qin Yi at the beginning of 32. Based on translations, QYJ mentioned the set the Luo house on fire to win Qi official’s favor. Was there mention of QYJ ordering QY to burn the house?

If you’re looking for something like the imperial coroner - cute romance while they solve cases, then it’s is not it. I feel like it’s more focused on our female lead’s journey to freedom and solving cases. Along the way, she builds relationships with our two romantic interests but in away, the romance is not the focus. It’s explores themes of human nature and where we draw the moral line to not cross. It has a calmness to it (kinda like the moon) and the lighting & cinematography is great. Feels more realistic - like characters’ actions are consistent to their personalities. There is danger, some humor, love, political scheming. Different from idol drama feel. Watch it for the plot but not for romantic endgame.

each ep has been very engaging for me. There’s lots of details. But I also liked The Blossoming Love and Blossom and not so much Mystic Moonlight and Guardians of Dafeng.

Yes - I keep thinking Qin Yi = Qin Li. Corrected them. Did not expect Lian to be the spy

Ep 32 - all the dominoes set up are finally falling. Qy is a force to be reckoned with. HMZ stays tue to his principles. Liu true character is also revealed. The truth of LS parents death is revealed. 2 Qi Bro did not lie to his bro. How can so much happen in one ep?!

But yes - please don’t expect QML’s impulsiveness to suddenly change. He is always motivated by the heart before the head.

Yes - he is impulsive behavior is even a task for LS to tame.

Their brief interactions have not been positive. She’s another strong woman but I feel like the Fl is more resilient and willing to stand against the wind and obviously not use coercion.

He gave up on love with the Fl because of his love for the FL.
To get the paperwork to free the Fl from Mengke - he had to agree with 2FL’s condition to break up and separate from the FL. He put her freedom before his interest.

He also was under the pressures from Governor Liu and the prearranged marriage. He was hoping 2fl would be willing to talk to her father and cancel the marriage agreement. But he’s unaware he likes him.

FL understands his struggles. The two would have been perfect for each other if the circumstances / situations were different but they realize this would be too difficult and they care too kích for each other’s future to pursue the relationship.

Kudos to Edward Zhang for an excellent portrayal of creepy cunning Qin Yi. The camera angles were also good at enhancing his evilness. The scene between LS and him at his house was amazing. Very respectable villian - I get chills running down my back thinking of him.

ML and SML are foils of each other in character but both have strong moral compass.

But the synopsis is great. Anothe to add is it’s about politics. Haha

I think the carefree boy is the ML and the stoic intelligent one SML
