Phew - finally binged 35-40. That was very complicated and confusing trying to wrap my head around all the “logic”. I gave up with the logic and just went with the flow.

Very good. I’ve posted a review for 30-31 but it has spoilers. Excellent acting. Kinda anxious about 2nd qi bro. Friend or foe, we just don’t know. It’s apparent he loves his youngest bro even though they don’t share the same mom nor status. But will he fall for QL’s temptations?

Yes! I don’t think this drama is going to make it big because it’s not marketed to make female hearts swoon nor cheer for feminism. It doesn’t have big name actors drawing in fandoms.
I admire them for making a solid quality realistic drama!

Yes, if it’s irritating you, then take a break. I had to take a break from GODF because FL was irritating me. Funny how the two characters are kinda similar but I find this drama does a better job presenting him to mewith a good heart even if he’s immature.
I’m on ep 31 and still am enjoying it. I am enjoying how the story unfolds. The romance is not my main interest. How she (ML and 2ML) gets out of QL’s web and what’s 2nd Qi bro’s involvement is keeping me glued.

Ep 31 - everyone’s thinking the Fl is dumb for choosing to submit to QY but she is a person with low status and little influence in the grand scheme of things. What’s the situation?
QY is a cunning, evil person and we (the audience) self is scheming. She knows he wants her. She’s seeing all the efforts HMZ made leading to a dead end. She sees QML struggling with his father and probably does not want him to add another burden on his shoulder. She sees the effects of the locusts and subsequent grain shortage on the commoners.
At this point, she doesn’t see too many options and cares too much for the starving ppl. She suspects Liu holding back relief grain and QY monopolizing on grain prices is not a coincidence but what can she do?
