I hated this! It was so light and lovely and funny, then it got complex because of course - cdrama storyline - and why oh why did she become even more complex even after knowing the truth! They could have had their happily ever after. So don’t watch if you don’t want your heart broken, but watch because... well, everything from cast performance to clothing is incredibly good. Love/hate for sure ;)

I'm here to nurse my battered heart after recently watching AOL. need some recommendations. thanks
Watched their making off on YouTube and it seems like they might be secretly dating in real life (having known each other from their first series since they were 18), so cute! They look like a loving couple in real life, so will be nice if it's true, and the female actress actually recommended the male lead when the director asked for her recommendations... But for me that wasn't enough, and I rewatched their scenes on YouTube until I got bored :P this is a nice fan-made Three Lives version of their love story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PAsUDnbwZk (Eternal Love is btw a good rebound (apparently they made Ashes of Love right after Eternal Love, to catch the momentum), but in cdrama, you'll just be rebounding the rebound endlessly...) :D

Often is said that the reason there is no love story about life after marriage is because that's where love ends (woman becomes housekeeper and man is just lazy), so I hope they make a sequel on their love after marriage to prove those wrong ;) not watching it if it's a different cast.

This is bs. Why the hell am I watching this? Especially the scenes between those evil people, and the stupid people.…
It gets more interesting from ep 33
On Princess of Lanling King Mar 26, 2019
It’s called Princess LL so whom do you think she’s going to choose? Not going to watch this. Rating is lower than Prince of LL and that was already disappointing after Ming Lan (same male character).

This is bs. Why the hell am I watching this? Especially the scenes between those evil people, and the stupid people. It’s like watching things going sour and no one is doing anything about it. But I still want to see the ending and it's just too bad I can't skip too much to miss the details. Argh

I've finally seen the last episodes and all I can say is this was truly one the most beautiful series I've ever…
Agreed. When it ended, I kept thinking: but I want them to bring me to the lunch scene and watch more of the good days

How’s the romance in this drama?
very cute, aka he's upset that she doesn't get jealous and gets happy when she's being unreasonable

I poked around c!net and came across some nice MV. There's a blue slider at bottom of the video, slide it off…
This makes me feel better, especially the second one. Thanks for sharing.

Sad ending. I'll mention why in the next comment incase you'd like to figure out for urself by watching the drama.
He was in the carriage on his way to pick her up. The writers are evil for doing this. But both times when he asked her to marry him, someone died (the swear that she'll never marry him came true). Why are all the good historical dramas so depressing? I just want to watch something good, without ruining my happiness.

They killed her off???! Why? It doesn't make sense. She's not that selfish to leave GNY alone and waiting, and have they not been clarifying all the misunderstandings between her and NY? Why did the writers kill off HLZ, what's even the point of her dying? I'm sick of all these sad endings in decent series (even though some plots were weak but FZW and NY were cute together).

I can't believe I'm up to ep78 AND still has a strong desire to keep watching. RRL managed to capture my gold…
Yeah, is it not a pity, that their relationship went downwards because of his unwarranted jealousy. All because he cared about her (but was probably too selfish and immature to really understand what caring about someone means and should and should not contain).

You know at the very last part, when Ruyi told the emperor before he left for the hunting trip, she said in Mandarin…
That was a very sad moment, when she had accepted "their fate" as it is. She said this sentence after asking him if he knew what "lanyin xuguo" means, I had to look it up, apparently it's an idiom meaning "happy marriage ends in a divorce" also "starts well but ends in seperation (of marital relations)." The sentence "hua kai hua luo zi you shi" is also a beautiful reference to the flower he gave her, that she tried to nourish - but it just wouldn't (until the end, when he tied their hair together).

I cried most during her memories of their past, it was before this scene. Fit perfectly with this expression. She's such a great actress; her eyes did most of the talking.

if you havent watched legend of concubine zhen huan, then you no drama deserves your 10 yet :)
Actually watched that before MiYue. Though I liked it very much, I prefer this one. Perhaps because the heroine accomplished more historically than just in the backyard of the palace ;)
