Is this your theory or the writers explanation?? I saw an interpretation on weibo that is also plausible stating that there are 4 “worlds” including the one we are in where Li Yi Tong and Liu Yu Ning are filming the drama. Two fictional worlds, the other which SXY lives in and our world.
So was the NF in the makeup chair of ep 40 and the one coming out of the portal the same person? I think that’s what threw me into a loop
I found an interesting interpretation of the plot on weibo below. Only got the gist of it (would appreciate anyone who can translate) but it sounds plausible. In this theory, NH is NF. There were 4 dimensions (the historical era where SYM and NH, the modern era where SXY and NF film “qing ning”, third is SXY and NF fifilm “ADWAD”, and fourth is our world where actual actors LYT and LYN with the director and real screen writer film). Mind blown. And it seems like NH was there from ep 1, just waiting for SYM/SXY like they were navigating different timeloops. I love how the drama left many hints to figure out what happened but also leaves room for interpretation! I feel like I have to rewatch the first few and last few eps. I always found it interesting with the way NF acted in ep 1 and how there was the sound of thunder when SYM said she doesn’t like NF. OMG just finished all 6 eps and that totally threw me into an Inception loop, in a good way! I have to process this all (and sleep) before sharing my review. Truly a refreshing storyline full of humor, fun, action and satire. It started and ended strong too (a bit of dragginess at times but I can overlook them because of the unserious genre), which is not something many dramas have been able to do. Kudos to the cast and crew, they did a fab job! And thanks to all for the fun discussions/theories!

I couldn't finish TPOB, despite the good chemistry, the plot didn't keep me engaged. I was worried NH would be too similar to Wei Shuo but thankfully not!

I felt bad for him, couldn't hate him because we were shown his backstory. It's a shame he became the villain (instead of the original NH) in the end because of circumstances and his choices. Amazing acting on being unhinged! Bravo to all !

wow what a nice interpretation, I feel like I have to rewatch scenes to pick up all those little hints! I was wondering when the ending credits took place, if it was before or after the HE, but your theory makes sense. Although, I feel like if SXY is SYM, NF can be NH. But that portal...makes me wonder if the NH she saw is separate from NF in the makeup room.
Anyway, the last few eps really helped the drama end strong, and very few dramas have been able to do that (ahem to all the many before this that start strong and end terribly). Felt like I was watching a quirky spinoff of Inception LOL
