I shipped them in the book too. Kinda funny because Yang Zi also mentioned she shipped the two together. Wish the author had different plans for AN, she didn’t have to be written that way :(

That was such an important scene that was crucial to address XY's heartbreak and trauma. They could have just used CGI like for every other scene, I don't see it requiring that much work. If Yang Zi really fought to have that scene, I think they should've included it. I agree, having Haoling Emperor explain everything to XY (from what I can see in the trailer and the leaked script), it takes away the emotional impact/release. This is just one of the few (BIG) changes that I am disappointed about. I appreciate the great acting though, so will try not to complain too much!

I dunno if I should be happy or sad about the changes in the script. If they were faithful to the main events of the novel for S2 it would be even more earth shattering. But I feel the novel was more intense because it showed how much more possessive CX was til the end. Anyway regardless, I know this will be weighing on me for a while after it’s over as well. I will be here crying with my other shippers!

Haha I didn’t know any of the ML’s in the beginning either. I started the drama for YZ and because I saw snippets of XL and TSJ in the background who looked interesting. After I started watching it, I was drawn to the two (actually didn’t care for CX much as he didn’t stand out to me). But then he grew on me! ZWY proved me wrong haha! His acting range really stands out

Seeing the preview for ep 14, I feel robbed of the scene that should have taken place between XY and her mother. Sad. I think I heard somewhere that YZ fought to have this scene but guess they had to change it

EDIT: just skimmed through today’s latest episode (ep 14) and see there was actually a lady with an unrecognizable face in the house which belonged to Chi Chen and Ah Heng, so I guess we will see Ah Heng?!

So funny because in the Live video that Yang Zi and Dai Lu Wa did recently, YZ was saying how she always shipped Ru Shou and AN (I WAS SO HAPPY cuhs I thought I was the only one that felt this). He is just as smart and talented (also her dad’s disciple) and someone who watched her grow up. Sometimes I wish CX didn’t spoil her so much and put on the “good brother” facade all the time so she would actually open her eyes to others around her. Maybe then she would have had a simpler and happier life. Too bad they don’t like each other lol. Would make a lively bickering couple

Wow totally agree with this. Guess it comes from unresolved issues. Technically, many of these poor characters need to seek therapy lol. I sympathize with her family members and ppl around her who obviously are doing their best with their situations and not intentionally trying to hurt her. She is fixated on protecting her own heart and feelings (which I can also understand), but at some point, she needs to look at the big picture

New fave actor. I went from watching it for TSJ and XL to watching it for CX haha ZWY is an amazing actor

There were definitely subtle nuances that I interpreted as love that surpassed that of family love in the novel. I know a lot of ppl say she loves him only as a brother, and yes that was the case in the end. However, she always had him in her heart and she remembered the promise they made. But after reuniting and seeing the path he chose, she chose to support him as his meimei/his closest person. The potential romantic love she had for him never came to fruition because of circumstances, but I think if he reached out and pursued her in the beginning when they reunited, things may have been different.

The excerpt in chapter 47 before XY went into slumber was a big indication of that.

He knows she loves him that’s why he tried pushing her away so she can forget him. XY even tried telling her to forget CX since he will have a harem a women, and cannot give himself completely to one person.

In the novel, he did promise her dad that he will treat her as well as how her dad treats Consort Jing An. Unlike his other wives, his care for AN is sincere. Per the leaked script, the drama ends with CX and AN in Qingshui town and CX looking for XY, but it means they still spend time together and are ok. There may not be love on his part but he will continue to treat her well

When I read the novel, I was so moved by the scene between Tian er and XY. They did a great job showing that beautiful scene. It was hard holding back the tears! Tian er is such a wise woman, you can see how her perspective of life influenced XY even when XY was WXL.

I feel that he projected the feelings of being a good brother to XY onto AN during the 300 yrs he searched relentlessly for XY, perhaps a coping mechanism? Feel bad for AN as it wasn’t fair for her but he sincerely cares for AN, but only as a sister. From the leaked script it seems like AN will have a convo with her dad before the wedding telling him she knows CX doesn’t love her. Honestly wonder what would’ve happened if she knew CX was in love with XY, funny how she never suspected it especially after the whole ordeal where XY nearly died after poisoning herself and CX.

I think CX closed off his heart all those yrs ago and will only open up to XY. Considering he was separated from XY longer than they were even together, and probably met countless beautiful and talented women without ever being moved, it’s prob goes to show that it’s hard for him to fall for anyone. When he is with XY, he can be completely himself.

I am with you Katelyn! I am here for YaoXuan! Even though I feel sadness even during their sweet moments (knowing what’s to come), I am on this ship with you

I know a lot of ppl believe XY only saw CX as a brother and are not wrong. However, there were a couple of instances where I feel like XY’s feelings for him were beyond that of sibling love, he was already in her heart, but it never came to fruition due to circumstances. By the time they reunited, he wanted to fight for the throne which she supported him in. And with that choice, he was not considered. I guess my heart breaks on what could’ve been, but then we wouldn’t have a story.

There are many what ifs for not only YaoXuan but YaoLiu as well, which is what makes this story so good for analysis haha
