At the first few episodes, the discussion was healthy. But yeah, these discussions turns out to be the same as…
Wow didn’t know Ashes of Love had the same heated discussions. Lol interesting because YZ was the FL in it too. Lol I try to stay within specific threads now because I am getting more anxiety from this main page
Counting days for our tragic and selfless Xiang Liu 😭....I hope the drama doesn't butcher XL so much, the leaked…
Yeah I am NOT happy about the script. It butchered all the main characters from what I was able to tell - some out of character actions from what was shown in S1. And we are gonna miss some epic XL scenes!
Random but I really love Cang Xuan's voice— I've thought about it since S1. He's really satisfying to listen…
I loveeeeee ZWY’s voice - so nice and clear. He enunciates well. He can be a radio host haha. I think all the cast dubbed themselves. Not sure where I saw the comment or video but apparently TJC’s dad accompanied him when TJC dubbed his scenes and his dad had to leave the room and teared up (likely from XL’s last battle scene) - someone correct me if I’m wrong
Only one episode per week??? I think I'll wait until it's finished.
There is no way it would be that infrequent. If it follows other dramas, they typically release up to 6 the first day with 2 eps/day after that. May not have a release 7 days of the week but a good chunk of it. Given how short S2 is, it will probably last 2 weeks at most especially since the actors have other dramas lined up (I’ve noticed that they try to avoid releasing too many for the same actors at the same time due to viewership ratings)
Just saw the clip of ZWY talking about CX’s character and CX-XY relationship on weibo (https://video.weibo.com/show?fid=1034:5052140180144174). He has a very good understanding of him. CX is such a tragic character, and this is something I was able to witness more of after rewatching S1. The heartbreak, internal struggles, shouldering burdens…he gave everyone a peaceful country at the expense of his own freedom and happiness. In the end, he lost XY forever - forever missing her. It breaks me because of how beautiful their bond was - the unwavering support they gave each other, a bond that was deeper than family and romance.
There were discussions about the S2 script regarding how it downplays his love/intentions by making him feel sorry/guilty for choosing the throne over her - that the throne was more important than XY. This totally throws off his characterization from S1 and the novel because he never cared about power and just wanted a simple life with his loved ones. In the beginning of the drama, he told Lao Sang that it would be nice to live with XY in QingShui town. Someone made a valid point - it wasn’t a simple choice between power or love, but a choice between selfishly putting down everything to be with XY or selflessly getting the power to guarantee her safety and happiness. The only one he let go of was himself because he can never live on his free will.
And the ruo mu flower pin. Such a significant token of his love (which they also downplayed in the script). But still broke my heart because it represented his love for her and how he would only ever see her as his one true love/wife. Aghhhhhh
Super happy to read this! Honestly for S2 I most look forward to Cang Xuan's character
Omg yes it just pains me! I am rewatching S1 and in the very beginning he was talking to Lao Sang, saying how it would be nice to just live in QingShui Town with XY. He gave up his happiness and freedom for power, just so that he could protect her! I just wish circumstances were different so he could live a happy and normal life with her.

TEAM CX in the drama and novel (although I'm APPALLED at the S2 script, destroying the full 100% crazy CX from the novel. I guess ZWY's acting and presence will make up for it at least a little bit). I'll be here waving my YaoXuan flag on the sinking ship.
They are doing this on purpose! LOL at least I'll get to see a CX who's emotions will be bubbling and overflowing in S2, the chains are broken! Give me the crazy CX and YaoXuan scenes!
I realized I had to create an account to read them haha. Omg just seeing these comments are making me even more anxious. I love CX, one of the few YaoXuan shippers (although the ship will never sail). Agghhhh so they end up keeping the scene where he drunkenly confesses to XY ahhhhhh. I dunno if I have the heart to see ZWY’s even more expressive eyes - I am sure he will stand out even more in S2 with his acting range
I’m unable to see any comments, only the video clip. Did I click something wrong? I wanna see what they said, I’m sure they were positive since ZWY is such a good actor. Prob the strongest among them all
Guys, when has a leaked script ever been true? Melons be lying. The only 100% thing I've seen is the ending scene…
I saw clips that were released on weibo with snippets of S2 scenes which pretty much followed the leaked script to a T. Very disappointed but already suspected it was legit. I have seen other leaked scripts in the past which sadly ended up being the real thing
So I saw some clips on Weibo related to what’s to come in S2 and it pretty much confirms that the leaked script is legit (as suspected).
The convo AN has with her father before marrying CX, and the scene at the end when XY and TSJ both comment on how they miss QingShui Town (likely the place they will go to start their future together), all aligns with the script. Sooooooo sad mainly because I read the novel and am not happy with the changes - many of which detract from the story and characters.
That means watering down all the leads especially CX and XL and the significance of the relationships they have with XY.
I am not readyyyy. Can’t help but rant before the release grrrrr
Oh no is it getting heated and intense again? I don’t want to read them hahaha. I share the same sentiments,…
I think censorship wanted to paint CX as a morally good character, since he is the main male lead (and apparently his character in the novel is based on a historical/mythical figure). So all of the 'crazy' and selfish things he does in the novel, will be changed in the drama. I mean it butchers it all because S1 set the stage and development of his character, only for it to end up a deflated balloon. I also notice that the changes weaken the bond XY has with not only CX but also XL, making their love/relationships insignificant (also probably something many XL fans including myself will not enjoy). All to push for a pure ''happier'' ever after between XY and TSJ (which I also don't like even though I'm content with them ending up together).
XY and XL are definitely soulmates, they just get each other and I see why they were drawn to each other. XL saw himself in XY, XY saw herself in TSJ (at least how it was shown in the drama). They all went through traumatic things. And of course CX and XY had a trauma bond as kids, where they only had each other. I agree, the dive into the psychology of their characters, and how the experiences shaped them and their choices is so fascinating.

S1 was pretty faithful to the novel with little tweaks here and there but maintaining the main plot and essence of the characters. I only read it after watching S1 to see what events would unfold. S2 however has big changes probably due to censorship (ughhh) and the changes seem to really water down the characters - making them more one dimensional. I don't mind changes (just as you say) but if it affects the main plot/characters, that's when I have issues with it. The plot execution and motives also seem weak. In case you were wondering, you can read the translation of the leaked script in the discussion thread above by Liddi.
I read some of the discussions below on XL and TSJ and got really dizzy from it all. I really don't like the fan wars, everyone has their own team/ship/opinions, but no need to get heated! I was actually team TSJ/XL in the beginning but CX won me over later because he is just so much more layered and morally grey. I also have a soft spot for him because he only ever wanted a simple life with his loved ones, and ended up on his journey to power just to protect XY (and ironically lost her in the end). Ofc the outcome was the consequence of his choices. In a happier circumstance, they would've been end game. It would be interesting who XY would end up with if CX, TSJ and XL all didn't have other responsibilities/commitments and the luxury to openly pursue their love for her (meaning equal footing and circumstances).

Also they ruined all the other main leads!
