So how are you guys doing while waiting for S2? Luckily for me, I can only watch 2 epis per day, so I still have…
Haha I’m still catching up with 10+ eps so kinda happy about that even tho I skimmed through the raw eps. Will prob read the book or watch bts and interviews.
Lol damn these comments be wild on here😂😂. First of all, these are fictional characters REAL people are…
Thank you for posting this, I’m quite taken aback by the fan wars over characters. I say this as someone who LOVES XL, but also happily supports TSJ and XY being end game (quite happy tbh). With the latter half of the series, I even started to appreciate CX more. I mean it would be nice if there could be 3 XYs for the 3 guys lol. I find myself wavering between the 3 because they all shine in their own way whenever it’s their scene.
It was never about who deserved XY most, who did the most, etc. Let’s not compare apples to oranges. All the characters have their flaws. I love XL and CX - but let’s not disregard some of their unhealthy behaviour too. If circumstances allowed it, I honestly can see XY end up with any of the men. But her journey ended up with TSJ, he was someone who can be with her for life, and she genuinely loves him. TSJ is not weak. His extreme kindness (to a fault which hurt XY) can be a weakness but also a strength. To continue having such a heart after the worst torture and humiliation shows his grace. He isn’t stupid, he is prob one of the most intelligent and can be very strategic. He also is very respectful of XYs boundaries and relationship with CX and XL. He isn’t perfect, but to meet someone like him in today’s world is already rare. Let’s just respect each other’s opinions/preferences without tearing characters down.
Still catching up even tho i did spoil myself with the last 9 eps. Had some questions as I catch up:
- ep where XY refuses to kiss XL underwater and TSJ ends up getting her out of the water. Why did XL’s heart hurt? Was it because of his own feelings or XY’s pain? Still don’t really know how this works lol - cuhs she can’t feel his pain (how is he in control)? - TSJ and the wine bottles - what did he notice about the bottles that made him suspect there was a spy? What was lan xiangs motive (im assuming she was working for Hou), but why tamper with the wine bottles?
I think they did a really great job ending part 1 and make us eagerly waiting for part 2. As much as I love Xiang…
Same! I actually didn’t think much about CX but he really wowed me halfway through - the angst and emotions in the scenes with XY were amazing. I really feel for CX and XY, the love and loyalty is a rare gem
Without TSJ, XY would’ve died.Without XL, XY wouldn’t have lived. They both did their best given their abilities.…
My EXACT sentiments! It’s so unfair to compare the two and I really don’t like seeing some of the fan wars against the characters. I’m really happy TSJ and XY are end game, but I love XL. I also grew to like CX too - he has his flaws, but he loves XY just as much as the rest. I sympathize with CX because if circumstances were different maybe he wouldn’t have gone down that route and he could’ve had his chance.
All in all, they all love XY and I could see her with any of the 3 guys, if circumstances and timing were right for it to happen.
I've watched till episode 39. I'm getting to appreciate Cang Xuan's inner struggles more and find more empathy…
Omg was gonna say the same thing, his character has grown on me and despite his flaws and what’s to come, there is no doubt that he loves XY. He looked for her for 300 yrs and really cared for her after their reunion. I sympathize with him and feel that if none of the tragedies happened in the past, maybe the two would have lived happily together. Ofc this is the same for all the male leads - but circumstances and choices determine the result!
Appreciate ZWY who plays CX, glad he got the role. I know ppl feel for XL a LOT, dont get me wrong he is still my fave but I cannot help but be touched by CX and XY - they have a different kind a bond that is so close and intimate
Seems like all the MLs are great at conveying subtle emotions/microexpressions
CX is amazing, didn’t care for him at first but his acting is 👌🏻 especially with XY. The chemistry is great between them too and their scenes together move me most even tho i love jing and XY together and XL is my fave
For me it's kinda looked forced that writer just want her to end up with jing
I agree. I think all the characters (especially XY) were pretty rational/realistic in the story. They all had love but also kept their duties/goals in mind. XY wasn’t your typical FL who only lived for love - she didn’t want an ending like her mom so she made a realistic choice based on why she wanted in life. Love isn’t the only motivator in a relationship. And it wasn’t like she settled for Jing, she loved him. She loved all the guys in her own way, but Jing was her life partner
I know majority of the comments talk about XL vs Jing, and tbh I didn’t care for CX at first. But after watching the first 20 eps, I can see the significance of the bond between CX and XY, and how they share something she will never have with the other guys. The actors have great chemistry and their scenes really moved me (eg when CX learns of her identity, and the scene where she thought the consort was her mom). I feel for them, no wonder why their grandma said they were pitiful children who need to lean on each other. It’s sad that CX felt the need to walk down that lonely path (to protect XY and ppl around him) only to lose her forever in the process. I see why he is the ML. If they grew up happily, the rest of the story prob wouldn’t even happen. Makes you wonder, what if, and realize how circumstances really influenced all the characters in the story and shaped their paths.
For me, choosing between Taushan Jing and Xiang Lu really depends on what you're into, which can change as you…
Totally agree with you. I know there is a divide on fans who support each of the guys, so I don’t like to judge them based on what they did for XY and the depth of their love for XY. I believe they all love her a lot in their own way. Tbh she could’ve ended up with CX/XL/TSJ. But she ended up with the man who could provide that stability and be by her side for life, which is what she was looking for. I admire her practicality. It is hard to find a guy like Jing! His calm, patience and grace really complements XY. They healed each other.
Jing 100%I was never into the mean/cold bad boy that is only nice to the girl he likes trope. With that said,…
I appreciate Jing’s intelligence, and the way he respects XY (including her bond with CX and XL). He is patient and gives her space. I heard comments about him being weak. Altho he isn’t powerful and assertive like CX and XL, he has a strong heart. The fact that he can remain kind and graceful despite the torment he experienced shows his strength.
No to CX cause he's too ambitious that means a life full of ups and downs and these aren't your typical ups and…
Hahaha ofc i think XY would fare well on her own 💯. But if I were her and had to choose, it would be Jing. As much as I love XL, I’m happy the “nice guy” got the girl this time since Jing seems to have the typical “Second Male Lead” character who never gets the girl
In reality, modern setting - I choose Jing in a heartbeat. But the only thing is I would cut off contact with…
Oh absolutely, Jing only after he draws the line and cuts off the engagement ofc. He is not as decisive an ruthless as the other two which is his flaw (kind to the point of having no boundaries) but you can see he learns from that. Kindness prevails, CX is too ruthless and ambitious. XL is too unpredictable. Even tho both deeply love XY - there is no stability.
Before I ask this question, just want to say that XL is my FAVE character (even though I'm happy to hear that Jing and XY were endgame).
However, in reality - who would you actually choose among the 3 men (if you HAD to pick one?). All the characters have their good and bad. And as loving as XL and CX are, I don't think I would pick them irl. Jing has his flaws and hesitations, but I feel that I would have a bit of a healthier relationship with him. Putting myself in XY's shoes in the beginning, my first impressions would definitely determine where I would lean towards: CX - obviously she has good memories of him, I feel like he would be like a first crush/big bro I have fond memories of, but I would've been put off by how cruel he could be (ofc this behaviour was before he knew of XY's identity). Ngl I would still be disappointed that he doesn't recognize me. XL - I'm queasy when it comes to pain (i.e. the torture) and blood so I would not be attracted to the danger of being in his presence (as charismatic as he is, but let's be real). I'd be running before I even have the chance to see his gentle heart and potential. Could never be a donor and would be frustrated with his way of expressing his love (hot then cold, can be toxic, I give him grace as his character was shaped by experience but he would need to work on himself first and same for XY). Jing - I would be drawn to his warmth and gentle demeanor (even tho he is not strong like the other two). But I would be more inclined to take time to get to know him. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyway I love and feel for all the characters, and I think the constant 'what ifs' and seeing the beauty behind XY and her relationships between all the guys just goes to show how wonderful the author is. She brings all these characters (whom we can relate to) to life. And you can see the characters are not just motivated by love but have their own agendas and are quite mature and rational a lot of the time.
I believe XY loved all of them in her own way (just like the other way around). It's unfair to compare the men, since the result of her journey was dependent on circumstances and every character's decision/action.
The tail was cut off by XY's mother before the events of the first episode. That greatly diminished the 9 tailed…
Id like to think that after he nearly drowns XY (which we all knew he wouldn’t let happen) in order to throw CX off for ffyy to kill him, he decided it was too dangerous to keep the bug in CX. By keeping it within himself he can keep XY safe, while continuing his mission?
Pretty sure he was aware of his feelings before the transfer, which was why he was confident it would be a successful one.
But if one person with the bug dies, the other should too right? In the cherry blossom chapter, XY pretty much had no pulse - surprised XL was able to even get up and go to her (unless this actually took 1/9 of his lives?)

XY saved him, but he also saved her.
