I know majority of the comments talk about XL vs Jing, and tbh I didn’t care for CX at first. But after watching the first 20 eps, I can see the significance of the bond between CX and XY, and how they share something she will never have with the other guys. The actors have great chemistry and their scenes really moved me (eg when CX learns of her identity, and the scene where she thought the consort was her mom). I feel for them, no wonder why their grandma said they were pitiful children who need to lean on each other. It’s sad that CX felt the need to walk down that lonely path (to protect XY and ppl around him) only to lose her forever in the process. I see why he is the ML. If they grew up happily, the rest of the story prob wouldn’t even happen. Makes you wonder, what if, and realize how circumstances really influenced all the characters in the story and shaped their paths.
For me, choosing between Taushan Jing and Xiang Lu really depends on what you're into, which can change as you…
Totally agree with you. I know there is a divide on fans who support each of the guys, so I don’t like to judge them based on what they did for XY and the depth of their love for XY. I believe they all love her a lot in their own way. Tbh she could’ve ended up with CX/XL/TSJ. But she ended up with the man who could provide that stability and be by her side for life, which is what she was looking for. I admire her practicality. It is hard to find a guy like Jing! His calm, patience and grace really complements XY. They healed each other.
Jing 100%I was never into the mean/cold bad boy that is only nice to the girl he likes trope. With that said,…
I appreciate Jing’s intelligence, and the way he respects XY (including her bond with CX and XL). He is patient and gives her space. I heard comments about him being weak. Altho he isn’t powerful and assertive like CX and XL, he has a strong heart. The fact that he can remain kind and graceful despite the torment he experienced shows his strength.
No to CX cause he's too ambitious that means a life full of ups and downs and these aren't your typical ups and…
Hahaha ofc i think XY would fare well on her own 💯. But if I were her and had to choose, it would be Jing. As much as I love XL, I’m happy the “nice guy” got the girl this time since Jing seems to have the typical “Second Male Lead” character who never gets the girl
In reality, modern setting - I choose Jing in a heartbeat. But the only thing is I would cut off contact with…
Oh absolutely, Jing only after he draws the line and cuts off the engagement ofc. He is not as decisive an ruthless as the other two which is his flaw (kind to the point of having no boundaries) but you can see he learns from that. Kindness prevails, CX is too ruthless and ambitious. XL is too unpredictable. Even tho both deeply love XY - there is no stability.
Before I ask this question, just want to say that XL is my FAVE character (even though I'm happy to hear that Jing and XY were endgame).
However, in reality - who would you actually choose among the 3 men (if you HAD to pick one?). All the characters have their good and bad. And as loving as XL and CX are, I don't think I would pick them irl. Jing has his flaws and hesitations, but I feel that I would have a bit of a healthier relationship with him. Putting myself in XY's shoes in the beginning, my first impressions would definitely determine where I would lean towards: CX - obviously she has good memories of him, I feel like he would be like a first crush/big bro I have fond memories of, but I would've been put off by how cruel he could be (ofc this behaviour was before he knew of XY's identity). Ngl I would still be disappointed that he doesn't recognize me. XL - I'm queasy when it comes to pain (i.e. the torture) and blood so I would not be attracted to the danger of being in his presence (as charismatic as he is, but let's be real). I'd be running before I even have the chance to see his gentle heart and potential. Could never be a donor and would be frustrated with his way of expressing his love (hot then cold, can be toxic, I give him grace as his character was shaped by experience but he would need to work on himself first and same for XY). Jing - I would be drawn to his warmth and gentle demeanor (even tho he is not strong like the other two). But I would be more inclined to take time to get to know him. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyway I love and feel for all the characters, and I think the constant 'what ifs' and seeing the beauty behind XY and her relationships between all the guys just goes to show how wonderful the author is. She brings all these characters (whom we can relate to) to life. And you can see the characters are not just motivated by love but have their own agendas and are quite mature and rational a lot of the time.
I believe XY loved all of them in her own way (just like the other way around). It's unfair to compare the men, since the result of her journey was dependent on circumstances and every character's decision/action.
The tail was cut off by XY's mother before the events of the first episode. That greatly diminished the 9 tailed…
Id like to think that after he nearly drowns XY (which we all knew he wouldn’t let happen) in order to throw CX off for ffyy to kill him, he decided it was too dangerous to keep the bug in CX. By keeping it within himself he can keep XY safe, while continuing his mission?
Pretty sure he was aware of his feelings before the transfer, which was why he was confident it would be a successful one.
But if one person with the bug dies, the other should too right? In the cherry blossom chapter, XY pretty much had no pulse - surprised XL was able to even get up and go to her (unless this actually took 1/9 of his lives?)
Just started the drama and still have eps to catch up on but can someone explain a few of things? - Am i missing something or was this a typo regarding the tail XY gave CX. This was from when they were young before she endured yrs of torture, but later on she says she got it from the nine tailed fox who tortured her. The timelines don’t match - XL nearly drowned XY when he asked the girl to help him assassinate CX, but saved her last min. Then, he decides to help transfer the bug from CX to himself - I guess this hinted on his growing love as he didn’t want her involved in the battle with CX, so willingly took the bug instead? Was that the only reason? - I assume XY doesn’t understand the details of the bug? How does it work? If the donor gets hurt or dies, the receiver dies too? But then I read spoilers that XY nearly dies in the ep with the cherry blossom - so shouldn’t XL be near death or die too?
Lol thanks in advance, small details but i tend to focus a lot when i get invested
Wow very beautiful analysis and explanation. I think all men had a chance but who XY ends up with ultimately depends…
Wonder if they wanted to show the contrast between her and her mother’s stories. Did the author write the prequel? But even tho XL didn’t get to live life with her he definitely left a huge impression on readers/viewers 🥲. The tragic heroes are always remembered. Ugh I like Jing and am happy to see a kind guy get the girl (he isn’t perfect but he is a good person), but I also am so sad for XL! The author did a good job making us feel for all of them
XY said she would definitely marry the guy that would give his all for her and imo XL is actually the most giving…
I agree that XL gave his all EXCEPT the fact he could not do one thing which determined why they couldn’t be together. He had a chance but he will not give up his duty so he cannot accompany XY for life. She wants a lifelong companion who puts her first above all other priorities. Makes it tragic cuhs you will always wonder what it would be like if he did give up his duties - but maybe that would mean he isn’t XL, a general who is meant to die in battle.
I just want to say something. This is not a typical romance with an ultimate OTP and everyone is only a sidepiece…
Wow very beautiful analysis and explanation. I think all men had a chance but who XY ends up with ultimately depends on whether their paths will connect and continue on the same journey. I love Jing and XL (always have a bigger soft spot for tragic leads like XL). I do think XY and XL are soulmates who bond over similar experiences. But even if XY were just a simple girl with no royal status, she will never end up with XL so long as he places his duty as priority. Even if they do get together, it wouldn’t last when he dies in battle.
are there any YaoLiuJing shippers here? let’s be friends. i know we are delusional but it’s okay🙈🙈
Ysssss. The two guys are my fave. Altho i feel that it makes sense Jing gets the girl (from what I heard from novel readers) and XL my fave cuhs I have soft spots for the sacrificial leads
