I only read a few small parts in the novel and wish I didn’t because it was enough for me to be underwhelmed with the drama 😭 what did they do to the main leads?!?!

I think LMX’s character was written a little differently than this in the novel - very loving and respectful of FL. I don’t think he ever had to remind her on revenge as FL did all the plotting. Kinda disappointed at how all leads were changed including the main ones

lol with the way things are going, I doubt we will get the same HY and Anle from the novel. They watered down their personalities prob for the sake of how they wanted the drama to be. but I think we will get more serious scenes for the latter half of the drama

can someone explain to me how they knew zhong hai was one of the 80000 men who survived? i know they had that coin, but not sure how they were able to determine who the owner was and all that. totally forgot as i got lost in all the past filler episodes hahah

so sad....not sure why the script couldn't just stick to the novel, at least with how the characters were originally written. i haven't read the entire novel but it's a shame that we couldn't see the main leads to their fullest potential. they're very one dimensional here, i guess it's because they wanted more romcom in the beginning

Hoping for them to get back on track with the more serious and pertinent issues at hand. Seeing all the scheming from different parties and with the trailers for the next ep, it looks like we're returning to the main story. Fun and flirty Anle was nice, but so ready to see the formidable woman seeking justice for her family.

You would think that LMX would put a more competent person to watch her. Just realized - they really wanted many side love stories by placing a male bodyguard for fake DZY and a female for LMX huh? The characters didn't think twice on that did they hahaa

You haven’t missed anything. Feel the same. Actually Anle isn’t as brilliant and independent as she was described to be in the novel. Much of her schemes and actions were given to others. They watered down the main leads which sucks, made them almost one dimensional

From the leaked script I saw online it appears he ends up Lin Lang in the end. But I think he only realizes after she dies? Tbh I wish they didn’t change his story from the novel, he was true to only one woman his whole life. If he ends up alone anyway might as well just keep his character consistent with the novel where he loves Anle

Yes! Came for Reba and Gong Jun but stayed for him. I didn’t read the entire novel but fell for his character because of his love and devotion to the FL.

Ep 16 and 17 felt so draggy with this whole banquet and fake DZY. Hope we get back on track soon

I loved The Long Ballad, it had a good storyline with balance between revenge and romance. The pacing was good too. I think this drama will show you a different side of Reba (more playful and flirty). Storyline and pacing could be better, a little too love driven for the first half in my humble opinion

After skimming through ep 16 and 17, I’m wondering how the latter half of the drama will play out. I came for the revenge plot but all I see are a bunch of characters either pining for someone or just lethargic. Way too romance driven and too focused on supporting characters that are creating petty drama rather than serving the main story. I’m still going to watch but cannot help but feel disappointed considering it was a highly anticipated series. The poor actors can only do so much with the script and one dimensional characters they were given to portray. Expected more from the main leads as I hear they’re amazing in the novel

I only read excerpts as there aren’t full translations available, but even that was enough for me to see the difference. I can understand that they want to showcase other supporting actors and give them more of a role, but it seems they focus way too much on romance (literally every bodyguard is in love with the one theyre protecting). They could’ve utilized their roles on the main story.

I love LMX! His wardrobe is gorgeous. But not pleased with how his character arc is deviating from the novel. Looks like they added lots of scenes between him and Lin Lang to create a love line (I love Lin Lang here but the beauty behind LMX’s character was his love for DZY and their backstory).

Also, from what I was told Anle did most of the plotting in the novel and didn’t rely so much on LMX. Wish they didn’t change this in the drama

Yes I’m disappointed. Will continue to watch but the revenge plot and main leads seem so watered down compared to the novel summaries I’ve read. Looks like things pick up in ep 18/19 trailers, but who knows. The time taken for all the fillers should have been used to reflect the novel’s main plot

Altho a drama adaptation will always have its differences, it wouldve been nice if they followed the main plot of the novel more, wasn’t too pleased with the direction the script had taken the last few eps.
