she is a ceo in a specified field like IT which is right now the most competitive field in the world and korea…
"I just hate how ppl r constantly belittling her character bc shes a college dropout"
She is not being belittled. I think she is an admirable person with a great spirit & potential. It's just that being a CEO is an over stretch.
Like I mentioned already, the FL in Itaewon Class is also a drop out but ends up being a successful director of the Restaurant franchise. She is good at marketing & reached her position through her skills.
In DM's case it doesn't hold true. She knew nothing about the IT /AI field & was not aware about the business/ management part too. She is a creative person, who is hard working & passionate. But that alone doesn't make one a CEO in the IT/AI field.
If the story was about any other industry like Fashion, Food or Travel, we can assume that DM learns the basics in 3 yrs & can confidently navigate through the challenges as a CEO.
But the IT industry grows at a rapid pace. A person who is neither from an engineering or at least a businesses background will find it almost impossible to deal with a CEO position.
Do we have at least one example in real life where this happens ?
College degree is not a must but it is like a map. DM decided to sail without a map but most people would prefer to follow a map.
There is nothing wrong with being a college drop out. It is a personal choice & no one has the right to question it / criticize it. But if you are the CEO, you are answerable to the society.
Would you like a doctor without a college degree to operate on you ? It's the same with the investors or employees. People value safety. Not everyone is as bold as DM & DS to sail without a map.
"Running a business without a budget is like a ship’s captain setting off on a voyage without a map. Sounds ridiculous, doesn’t it. Who would do that? Yet this is, figuratively speaking, what many business owners do.
Successful business owners, on the other hand, not only set clear targets and budgets each year, they monitor them closely each month, even each week, and adjust them as they go throughout the year."
He is always teased in 2DN1 for being a coward but I think many people are not aware of his childhood trauma. Overcoming it & doing his best to act well is an inspiration to watch.
Also some of u here need to stop looking down on seo dalmi for being a college drop out. yes college NOT Highschool,…
I'm truly sorry if my comment about DM leading the Smart city project despite being a drop out sounded harsh.
Jo Yi Seo in Itaewon Class had a similar education background but she doesn't end up as the CEO. She does what she is good at - Marketing. So, it was quite reasonable. And her character was said to be a genius too. Her character growth from a sociopath to a caring & responsible person was also impressive.
Here, DM is being projected as a CEO but we are yet to see her skills. What makes her a better CEO than any other random person who is creative & has good presentation skills ?
And instead of character growth, we are watching a weaker DM as the eps progress. Basically without DS & JP in her life, she wouldn't be where she is now. Can she really claim that she is better than WIJ ?
It's not about being a drop out. It's more about her experience with reality. Most of us are quite carefree in school & come to terms with the reality only after going through the college life. DM is still being overly idealistic.
Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg dropped out as they found their passion & wanted to work on their ideas. They are rare geniuses with a solid business plan but they too went through a lot of hardships before & after establishing their companies.
Can we all (not you HJP haters) appreciate KSH’s acting and genuine effort put forth in his role, for example,…
True. That interview shows how much he loves, enjoys & respects acting. He is always ready to learn from his co-stars (of any age).
I especially loved the part where he says that he took extra care while saying "I won't let DM get hurt" during the phone call with Grandma. He wanted to express the line in a gentle manner instead of a possessive tone.
This attention to detail & all the ad libs prove that he is a gifted actor who tries his best to portray his character.
>.> : What about JP, IJ ?
^^ : HP, IJ are supporting casts. Wait... IJ is an extended cameo role
Now I understand why they say 'Ignorance is bliss'
Anyway, the song has beautiful & deep lyrics. Start-Up has one the best OST this year. Lyrics, tune & singers - they got everything right.
• You are the one who truly understands my heart
• You inspired me to follow my dreams
Isn't it too predictable ?

That's the only parallel I noticed. The rest of their interactions were intentional/ self initiated even if DS claims otherwise.
