I’ll speak for myself, I was not asking for a happy ending with everyone singing and dancing in circles. I understand…
I agree that there are some very blatant writing problems with the show. It works best when it is focusing on the characters and their struggle (so the first half was really on point), but then it doesn't really combine the more political stuff later on very well. I feel like we are somewhat forced to feel a certain way for some characters, when in fact I don't care much for them because there hasn't been any actual time spend on developing the character (example: Fei Wendian).
can someone tell me why this is sad ending? Spoil me please because I want to know if I can deal with the ending.…
The drama is set in 1920s-1930s China, which is a time of great upheaval (war, political change, etc). Although the story is set mostly in a small farming village, it too is touched by what's going on in the world at the time. It would be odd if there weren't some deaths/tragic endings for some characters.
Unfortunately in the last 10 episodes, the storyline has become more hackneyed, the characters more sanctimonious - just doesn’t feel like the first half of the show.
For those who have read the novel, could someone tell me what Feng Yue's character is like? Does she know martial…
She acts flirtatious but she has a goal - to avenge her family and to find out the truth. In the novel, she was severely injured and could no longer fight by the time we meet her in the beginning of the novel. Definitely a smart character. She comes from a general’s family and was able to fight before.
For the drama, I think a lot of the details have been changed (except her family being exterminated/killed, I think that’s in there based on the director’s interview last month).
Deng Wei suffered heatstroke and needed emergency treatment. Working in 40degree heat wearing think layer clothing.I…
I agree - every actor or extra should be afforded the same safety and health precautions on any production. It's one thing to strive for things to look good or authentic on screen (i.e. costumes), but I think anyone can agree things can be worked out in advance to minimize people from overheating or freezing.
While the last several episodes in particular strayed into weird melodrama territory, this has been a solid modern police/detective series and nice to see Dilraba play a different kind of character/role.
May I ask what actually is donghua and its difference from a novel? Also, does he have an endgame here? Just curious,…
The Donghua or anime is actually quite faithful to the book. The drama also I would say carries the same essence- even some scenes are almost the same, but there are definitely changes made for the drama.
The drama covers only a few hundred chapters of the novel and up to about episode 63 of the anime (which is now up to episode 154 or something like that). So in the drama, it really is too early to explore in full his romantic relationships, which are developed way down the road. For example, his main wife is to be Nangong Wan, but she doesn’t appear much in the first several hundred chapters and only reappears in the narrative in the novel around chapter 710+.
