This people are really nuts. FL's character upgraded from week person to powerful girl and they say she is stealing…
Yeah...that's what I don't believe anything I see on weibo, etc or Twitter/X. It's all the same rubbish. It is nuts as you say. This story is not just about the ML lol, that's not how a drama works. It's a team effort. Ah well, I'm just here to see what neat outfits the cast has and to enjoy the process of filming and hopefully to see the drama aired smoothly.
Hey Vniverse...👋 All caught up on episodes? I am currently at EP 26I shook the Magic 8 Ball....it said "Outlook…
I’m hoping for a good ending for both, but I can see it going another way too. That’s a testament to how well written, directed and acted this show has been.
I felt very bad for ZX because you could see that the Marquis was willing to give up his life with a “fair”…
Yeah, great antagonist and performance. Only 12 episodes to go, wonder how they can top themselves after those incredible episodes the past couple days.
The last drama I saw from this era was The Princess Weiyoung (at least I think it was this period). Tang dynasty look is often used these days, oh well.
I don’t feel like he’s lost himself because he was 10 when it happened, he wasn’t even fully developed into…
I guess to me, at least by ep 28, he's lost mostly what he could have been if he hadn't lost his family, and he's now realizing that getting revenge is not entirely what he imagined it might be. Mostly, he sees what he has done to Zhuang Zhixing. Compared to when he first set foot in the Capital and now, I'd say it's all taken quite a toll on him. Seeking to kill and harm (even in the name of "justice" or revenge) would always cause someone to lose something in themselves - humanity, innocence, joy or one's actual soul. At least that's how I view it.
The direction is quite intentional in many of the shots of carnage so far. We're not intended to derive unadulterated pleasure. While I'd argue the Marquis (and that prima donna eunuch) deserved death, we are left a sense of emptiness as the shots of dead bodies lie on the ground near the palace from night until morning. There is simply no joy either on Zang Hai's face. When Xiang An Tu begs him not to pursue her mother because she would kill him, he says that if it were so, that we be good. :(
I love a good revenge drama (The Glory was fun and The Double last year) that can be smooth and entertaining, where all the clearly bad people get what they deserve, but in real life, it is never that simple. But you are right, when faced with such an atrocity (his family's death), what could he do? It would not be simple either to just live his life like it never happened.
I reeeeeeally hope he has a good ending. I want to be hopeful (and Xiang An Tu's character gives me hope that he's not going to end up empty and depressed). But I can see this being a more tragic ending too, it could work both ways with how it's been written and directed so far.
The costumes and look from the drama seem to be Tang dynasty-inspired, but the original story is a fictional setting (I'm guessing the drama will use fictional dynasty/kingdoms as well). The summary on Douban so far says the world is divided into 3 (so could be three kingdoms period-like politically, but obviously not the same look for the costumes/hanfu). I'm guessing here, obviously, no one knows haha.
Such a great revenge story that goes deeper than most (at least in recent years) in C dramas. In his quest for revenge for his family, Zang Hai has lost himself - and along the way, lots of collateral damage.
