Maybe for the first few episodes, I agree it’s hard to know what is going on lol. But I’ve seen plenty of dumber shows get higher Douban scores. It’s like MDL: some scores you agree with, some you don’t because people like different things.
what woah?? the heat index also not reached 7k yet 🥲
It’s alright, I’m just watching this as a light snack. It’s so hard to see Deng Wei on screen, so I’m enjoying his scenes and hearing him use his own voice for once. But yes, I am glad he and Joseph have since moved on to better scripts.
They made my man Deng Wei's character the bad boy hitting on someone's wife bohooo 😭😭 I can't even defend…
lol I know. But it guess the original character was a pretty obsessive type too. I hope at least he has more to do other than obsess over FY because it’ll get old and creepy real fast
Till now, no. But there were some fantasy elements in the original so maybe we'll get some in the 2nd half 🤔
There's a little bit in the recent episode. One of the characters seemed to switch from one personality to another (Tian Xing to Tian Yue) after tasting some wine.
Stop complaining. It's a good one.I know the most of you are more into more passionate or dramatic series. But…
I get the sense this show had a lot more filmed originally (which was cut) and also follows a slower build up and pace like older C dramas. Things are building nicely now in the post-divorce arc - it's working better now as a story, and we are finally getting to know all the characters more - both main and supporting.
I hope we don't completely abandon the comedy and comforting/uplifting vibe of the story as when it started, but I think a balance of the drama and comedy is needed and has worked out better in the last few episodes.
Ep 16 was great: more tension, more action, and more development on Fan Yun's journey to officialdom. Great to see more of Zheng Shi - such a complicated person. Really liked his one-on-one scenes with both FY and Qi Zheng. If only the 3 of them could be friends and work together, but I know it's not going to happen.
The drama is looking good, the visuals, casting is also good why does this have low rating?? Can anyone tell me…
It’s a lighthearted show so far. It’s fun to see the cast doing comedy (I’m so used to seeing them doing angst period or xianxia roles). But if comedy is not your thing, you’ll probably find it too “light”. I think the story starts to flow better after ep 6, so you can also just check it out to see.
Omid as Jiang Shu with the mask changes is hysterical lol; he’s like a magician when changing them.
It’s impressive that with really only his eyes and voice I can get so much out of him still. I like imagining what his expression looks like under the mask
