Need a break from tense political or angsty dramas? This one is super fun. There is a plot, and there are many characters with stories developing, but ultimately this one (so far) is pure fun, pure entertainment. I like ARP in this role - it works so well. He and Ai Ami have this fun, brother-sister diabolical-unhinged chemistry as the both of them scheme their way out of trouble and into 💰 💎 🪎 in some cases.

Yeah, the introduction in the Donghua to the brothers is pretty much exactly like in the book.

I believe the Si family shows up in season 3 of the Donghua. I've skimmed through parts of the novel and watched a bit of the Donghua. I didn't think of the brothers as twins. I just knew Si Jingyuan is the older and Si Kuanglan is the second.

Ok, I admit I wasn't sure about this one. But it's funny. Like if you need a not so serious drama to cheer you up, this is a great one. At least, it's funny so far.

Ep 3 is where it gets ridiculously funny. Love the weird crabs in the beginning. And even the homage to Ennio Morricone in the music later in the episode. Just wacky funny stuff.

Dude doesn’t have his own spine. He likes to think that he does, but it has never been there. One of the hardest things to learn as a parent: to let them go, to grow and learn and make mistakes on their own. I think Madam Yu realizes that to some point right now, but it’s too late. She’s both sheltered and suffocated him for far too long.

Never fear y'all. These episodes are the necessary growing pains for our couple as they advance in career and learn to navigate the complex politics in the capital. It's easier said than done, even as a couple. They are realizing that the "road to splendor" may not be what they are actually seeking for.

Buuuut...it seems the wedding is coming real soon. I believe this couple will come through - and they don't have to become the next Yu couple (referring to old Madam Yu and her husband - such an interesting comparison when you think about it) to achieve their goals.
