General thoughts about ep20-21: wedding is over but the battle continues in the families and in the court (mostly family in these eps). Glad it's still maintaining my interest (sometimes after the leads get together, I feel some dramas sag quite a bit). Yantang's Dad's comedic moments are hilarious (that dude deserves whatever horrible thing is hopefully coming for him).
Another great thing I'm loving about this drama so far: it manages to interweave the historical/court politics and more domestic/family drama in ways that are not too superficial and that actually work synergistically to serve the characters and the story. This is often not well done in more recent idol period dramas in my opinion.
I think I must have watched way too many tragedies where the protagonists lose at every turn. This just doesn't…
Yeah, there are plenty more angsty and sad ones out there. This one is a good balance for me. The leads are both smart, so you'd figure they would win some. But it's more interesting and realistic that they don't have it all smooth the whole time.
For real! Some people are like .."omggg.. she knows the future. why can't she just prevent this and that and protect…
lol. Yes, it would be boring too if things just worked out super smoothly all the time. But that’s me, I want a little angst and drama before the hopefully happy ending
I’m actually glad both leads (particularly FL) are having trouble sorting out their family issues, even with this second chance. Makes it more realistic to not have them invincible. But looking forward to them hopefully winning at life together soon!
What's been great so far for me in this drama is not just the gripping plot - it's taken the trouble to flesh out the characters, even the supporting ones to bring this whole world (Ming dynasty-esque) to life.
