To be fair this is Entertainment and not a Historical reproduction. Of course its a stretch but its enjoyable & fun to watch.

I think it more shows how being Noble / Wealthy does not make one smart, honest, caring etc. They are focused on status, greed and it blinds them. The show also has a very Pro-Female / Femenism aspect which is also unrealistic.

So I'm mixed. If he truely was a guy from her childhood, he is being used by CP & Cousin to do their bidding so they likely have something on him, he's a slave and he helps WR expose their secrets or he's some fake friend from the past and just another spy.
